I wasn't even considering asking Lufthansa if they offer gluten free meals. I flew Iberia once and requested a gluten free meal in advance. When I got on the plane they brought me a plate of regular pasta. Needless to say, I didn't eat it. Thanks for the ideas in terms of dried fruit and nuts and crackers. I will definitely try to make myself some snack... -
Hi, I'm from Uruguay but I'm living in Sao Paulo, Brazil and was recently diagnosed with Celiac disease. I know that in Brazil they are kind of lenient with what can be labeled gluten free and I have already gotten sick a few times from things that turned out to be "mostly gluten free." Do any of you live in Brazil and if so do you have any tips for me?

Hi, Okay, I did spend quite a bit of time in Barcelona a few years ago but this was before I was diagnosed with Celiac. From what I remember, I ate mostly tapas and things like that. While they do eat a lot of bread, they also make a lot of dishes with rice or seafood which are probably safe. Also, at some of the larger restaurants there were waiters or... -
I was recently self-diagnosed by elimination with a gluten intolerance and am waiting for the results from my blood tests for celiac. I have been gluten free for almost a month now and have lost a lot of weight very quickly (12 pounds to be exact). Is it normal to lose so much weight in the beginning of switching to a gluten free diet?
