ARCHIVED Trying To Understand Blood Test Results
AussieAmanda replied to AussieAmanda's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thanks for that info. I got my test results for the urine analysis yesterday and my iodine level is 79. It says that its only mildly low so not sure what that means. I've been eating a lot more fish and finding my face is actually stopping the strange sensations, well they are reduced anyway. -

When my original Doctor did the test she did it when I'd been gluten free for three weeks. I told her this and she still did it. I don't count that test at all because of course it was going to be negative. I don't think this Dr is planning on testing me again as yet. -

Only according to my Dr I'm not celiac, just intolerant. My Mum tells me that she is not yet on pills for her Hashimotos after 6 years so maybe I won't have them right away. Its very interesting that there is a connection. Thanks so much. -

The Dr didn't have these results when I saw her so she phoned for them to be sent. I think she would have received them today too. My Mum has Hashimotos apparently too althought she said something about the last Dr she saw wasn't sure. I've phoned the Dr to see if I need to come in before my next visit. Next visit will be end of July after I've done the other... -

Do you know if it can be prevented or reversed? -

No they don't change colour. My Dr said that I'm not a diabetic yet but that I'm at risk for it later in life. She told me I should be doing weight resistance exercise to increase the insulin levels. On the test results it also says: Glucose fasting - 4.1 and then 'diabetes unlikely' I think all this means that I don't have diabetes yet but... -

Hi everyone, I started posting on here a couple of months ago. As far as I know I am not a celiac but I am intolerant to gluten. The way I discovered this was last October when I was going through extreme stress, I had a bout of what I thought was gastro (my daughter had, had a very bad bout) with terrible abdominal bowel pains, constipation and bloating... -
ARCHIVED Do You Think I Got 'glutened'?
AussieAmanda replied to AussieAmanda's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Ok, had a bit of D but not a lot. However I'm still feeling so dehydrated, I'm up to 48 hours since I ate the meal. The internal shaking has stopped but I'm very fatigued (could be the low iron though) and still having muscle twitches. I took a magnesium tablet this morning for that which I think helped and have been drinking water all day but still feel... -

Ok, well I'll see what happens. Does D always happen? -
ARCHIVED Do You Think I Got 'glutened'?

So is it usual for the effects of being glutened to take a little while to hit and then to go after its passed through your body? -

I have my suspicions that the meal I had at the food court yesterday had gluten in it. It was a butter chicken 'curry' with white rice. I'd bought curry at a food court before but afterwards realised it was a different chain store (the other one had 'gluten free' signs up). It didn't immediately effect me although I was already fatigued and I got a little... -
ARCHIVED Doctors Giving Conflicting Info To Here

Thanks again for your help on this issue. Yesterday I saw the Dr Oz show where he talked about gluten/celiacs and intolerance. I found it interesting that he put a lot of emphasis on it and talked about how common it is compared to MS and Epilepsy. He mentioned the neurological symptoms as well as many others. Today I had food at a food court which I thought... -

Thanks for that, I really appreciate that info. I'll have to have a look into it. I'm on the waiting list for seeing a neurologist so I'll have to see who I end up with. Thanks also for all those links, you guys are so helpful! -
ARCHIVED Doctors Giving Conflicting Info To Here

I was also wondering, does anyone know of any articles linking gluten intolerance to neuropathy, depression and breast tenderness. My Drs are so against it all if its not research based. She doesn't even like me talking to other people online like this as she's wary of misinformation. Sigh. -

Thanks for your encouragement and support. I went on decaf tea and coffee a couple of years ago so I don't think its related to caffeine. I don't really drink coffee anyway. My Dr said I may be Estrogen sensitive. She refuses to think that I could be peri-menopausal even though my Mum and Grandmother both were at my age (36). I appreciate all the advice... -

I have another longer thread over in the behaviour part of the forum but wanted to write a bit of an update and it falls more into this category. Basically I went gluten free after stress induced IBS around 7 months ago. I had been gluten free for three weeks when I next saw my Dr and she suggested a celiacs test. I told her I was already gluten free but... -
ARCHIVED My First Time Here - Gluten Intolerance And Low Iron

I am totally amazed. I have had really tender breasts over the last few months, esp right before my pd is due. Anyway, went to the Dr last month and told her about it, also mentioned that I'd had light headedness, an episode of zig zag vision and an interrupted pd the previous month. She decided that after me being on my pill for 15 years that 'maybe the... -

Can anyone tell me how long it would take for symptoms to disappear once going exclusively gluten free? -

The iphone app sounds really good, I'll look into that. I have downloaded some of the free apps but I'm quite happy to pay for one too as its likely to be updated better than a book would. Not sure if I've heard of crust pizzas. Domino's does a gluten free pizza, wonder how careful they are. I didn't realise you are an Aussie too (apart from the avatar!)... -

Thank you so much, I really appreciate what you've said. I know I was tested for my B levels, thyroid, iron etc in January and the Dr said they were all fine. Then they tested for iron again 3 months later and it was down so perhaps the B12 is also down. I will go exlusively gluten-free now. I was still eating things like stuffing (with breadcrumbs) and... -

This article from this site sums up everything for me. I have read about adrenal fatigue before and the article ties gluten intolerance, adrenal fatigue, hormonal imbalance, low iron and stress all together. I'm so glad I've found this site!! Adrenal Dysfunction Article -

I have been reading up on GERD symptoms which I seem to have (tight chest, lump in the throat sensation). What I've read is that the GERD often disappears after going gluten-free. My symptoms have come since going gluten-free (around 4-5 months in). I was wondering, do you think that my body becoming more sensitive to ANY gluten could cause me to get reflux... -
Just saw this part of the forum so thought I'd drop in and wave my hand at any other Aussies who might be on here. I'm in Perth and I'm gluten intolerant. I've written a longer post about my situation in the gluten intolerance and behaviour thread.

Thanks Mushroom. I haven't gone to those lengths at all! I have tomato sauce (ketchup) and soy sauce and mayonnaise still mainly. I suppose the main reason I didn't worry about those things as much (I'm very strict on all bread, pasta, cakes, biscuits, pastries, sausages, snacks etc) is because my own doctor told me that I may be able to return to eating...
