About Me

28/F/WI. Started getting sick 7/2010 (4 months post partum), main symptom constant diarrhea if I ate ANYTHING within 10 minutes of my first bite and stabbing abdominal pain. 135 lb weight loss over the course of 3 months. Started by my doctors on a gluten free diet 10/2010, after slightly positive blood antigen test. Officially diagnosed with Celiac's Disease 4/2011 after genetic testing came back DQ-2 DQ-8. Stopped losing weight after going gluten free (haven't gained or lost, holding steady), rarely have diarrhea anymore (no more than any normal person). Continue to have on-going intestinal issues, which are still under observation by by GI. Have had 3 colonoscopies along with one endoscopy in the last 18 months, with them only finding the last 6-8 inches of colon being very inflamed. biopsies r coming back normal... but if anyone else is dealing with something similar I'd love to hear from you. I dunno if it's celiac related or I'm just battling multiple diseases. I'm very VERY careful about gluten... I avoid it like the plague, and GI saw no evidence of celiac damage at last colonoscopy, so still have no answers about ongoing GI issues or what is causing inflammation.

  1. Just wanted to post quick I saw a commercial yesterday for Garnier Fructis Fall Fight Shampoos and conditioners which claim to improve hair strength and prevents breaking and shedding. I really wanted to try it so I called garnier this morning and they confirmed both the Fall Fight shampoo and conditioner are in fact gluten free!!! Yay!! Hope this info helps...
  2. Sorry it took me a while to update, but I did hear back from Wal-Mart/Great Value brands customer service. They did check with their new distributor and the Great Value brand pizza sauce is still gluten free. I used it to finally make my English Muffin pizzas and had no reactions (I am very sensitive to gluten) so I just wanted to update all as promised...
  3. I contacted Wal-Mart Great Value brand customer service today and they said they just started with a new distributor for their pizza sauce and that is why their labeling has changed. She said there is no wheat in the product (had that info), however other gluten information in their system had not been updated yet. She took my number and forwarded my inquiry...
  4. I have used Wal-Mart Great Value Pizza Sauce in the recent past and did not have any problems. It stated right on the label that this product was gluten-free. I went to the store yesterday and they were out of the GV pizza sauce, so I had my mom pick me up some today when she was out (they restocked the shelves) and she brought it over to my house. Upon...
  5. Pre celiac diagnosis I always used Ortega or old el paso enchilada sauce. When I went to the store post diagnosis both contained gluten ingredients so I had to switch to La Victoria, which is ok, but not the same:-(. Well I was at my mothers yesterday and she had a can of old el paso mild enchilada sauce on her counter and I grabbed it and read the label...
