About Me

i got pregnant with my first child (born 2/2/2011) and in my 3-4th month of pregnancy (around oct 2010)i started getting a horrible rash on my face, after several times of "oh maybe its this" from my dermatologist i was giving up. i went to my primary physician for something else and mentioned i had a lot of food allergies (milk, eggs, fruit, vegetables, nuts, soy, etc) he asked me if i had ever been tested for celiac. i of course said no and he gave me a lab slip.. 2 weeks later they called me and said to start the gluten free diet, i had celiac disease! WOW! i started the gluten free diet september 1st 2011. so i had food allergies, either diarrhea or constipation, and upset stomach most of my life.. but i had NO idea about celiac disease. the trauma of pregnancy on my body is what caused my real celiac symptoms to surface. DH being the most dramatic.. at least to me since it is ONLY on my face and hands. since being on the gluten-free diet i havent had any false allergic reactions (like to bananas or peanuts) and my DH has almost gone away completely. of course it comes right back if i cook something with gluten for my family or if i accidentaly get glutened but it doesnt last long. i also have had my son tested for celiac (at 8 months) but the results came back negative. i dont know how accurate that is since he was only having barley or other gluten baby food like 5 times a week for a couple of months. i just know he gets a similar rash on his face as i was getting so i keep him gluten free too. since keeping him gluten free his skin is perfect. i am still learning SO much everyday about this disease and hopefully reading this forum will help me even more.

  1. I was diagnosed with celiac disease in August of this year. I developed celiac symptoms in my 3-4th month of pregnancy (my son was born 2/2/2011) symptoms which I never had before (the DH is what gave it away BIG TIME) when i started feeding my son barley and other baby foods with gluten ingredients he would get a rash on his face similar to what i would...
  2. I was diagnosed with Celiac in August of this year and since going gluten free (September 1st) my DH has cleared up almost all the way (it was AWFUL!) I still get a little spot here or there, if I cook something with gluten for my family or accidentally get glutened. I stopped wearing makeup because I can FEEL my skin getting angry as soon as I put it on...
