ARCHIVED What Are The True Risks Of Eating Gluten?mmm..gluten replied to Magnus's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease Hmm.. I would love to see some of the statistics from the book itself, specifically sources and peer reviewed journal data. As anyone who deals with statistics regularly will tell you - "there are lies, damn lies, and statistics!"

ARCHIVED What Are The True Risks Of Eating Gluten?mmm..gluten replied to Magnus's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease Yeah, I really feel bad for the extremely symptomatic people. When I screw up and eat gluten, it's not that big of a deal in the near term. I don't notice a change or may take an unexpected extra trip to the restroom that day - whoop de doo. However, I will undoubtedly pay for it on the tail end when the damage catches up to me. However, the really symptomatic...

ARCHIVED What Are The True Risks Of Eating Gluten?mmm..gluten replied to Magnus's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease Yep, definitely a leftist gluten hater. You definitely need to lighten up...all that stress is bad for your digestive system.

ARCHIVED What Are The True Risks Of Eating Gluten?mmm..gluten replied to Magnus's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease That's not what I have in my saved items! I'd repost it, but it's so horrible that it might shock most all the membership, so I will just pretend it never happened. Although I still feel bad..

ARCHIVED What Are The True Risks Of Eating Gluten?mmm..gluten replied to Magnus's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease The funny part, to me anyway, is that you choose to ignore pieces of sentences and focus on what you need to make your point. You sound like a good Hillary Clinton style democrat. Now run along and look up the word seems and close to..

ARCHIVED What Are The True Risks Of Eating Gluten?mmm..gluten replied to Magnus's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease Yeah, I had my obligatory almond rice PB&J for lunch with an apple and some yogurt. So far it's not too bad, but I am sure I am not as sick of it as you guys are..

ARCHIVED Tired Of The Cheaters And Skepticsmmm..gluten replied to angel-jd1's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff Take off, eh? You know I was thinking the same thing, eh? Might as well go out with a Coffee Crisp and a cup o Horton's finest, eh? BTW - checked my stash last night...Coffee Crisps are NOT gluten-free..

ARCHIVED What Are The True Risks Of Eating Gluten?mmm..gluten replied to Magnus's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease I'll let the others with more experience answer, but what I have been doing is ordering gluten-free things at restaurants - sometimes they get it, sometimes they don't, in which case I order a salad with no dressing or croutons and get vinegar and oil. LaChoy soy sauce is gluten-free.

ARCHIVED What Are The True Risks Of Eating Gluten?mmm..gluten replied to Magnus's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease Yep, that's me. I have tons of dolphin pics, as I see dolphins quite frequently. I won't be guilty of OT posting though, since Kaiti is looking for a good excuse to get rid of me, so let me close with "dolphins are absolutely gluten free".

ARCHIVED What Are The True Risks Of Eating Gluten?mmm..gluten replied to Magnus's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease Too late now...I already bought a 36,000 btu Weber! BTW, your other post was excellent.. I just figured I wouldn't reply to it and waste bandwidth unnecessarily!

ARCHIVED What Are The True Risks Of Eating Gluten?mmm..gluten replied to Magnus's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease Here's a follow-up to that point that just occurred to me and helps steer this back on topic. Is MUCH LESS gluten better than just ignoring it or is it a total all or nothing game? Does occasionally eating gluten accidentally have the same effect as eating whatever you want and ignoring gluten-free? It doesn't make logical sense, but I figured I would...

ARCHIVED What Are The True Risks Of Eating Gluten?mmm..gluten replied to Magnus's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease Yeah. When you guys talk about "getting glutened" I almost wish I could experience that. It's really difficult to tell what's safe to eat when you have no reaction no matter what you eat. At least with a reaction I could do a "note to self - don't eat BigMac ever again".

ARCHIVED What Are The True Risks Of Eating Gluten?mmm..gluten replied to Magnus's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease Good point. The funny thing is, a week into it, I am experiencing some weird fleeting stomach pains. I am positive it's psychosomatic, but it's pretty interesting nonetheless. I'll stick with it though...I even bought a new grill so I can start eating more meat. The thing I hate is that I was considering giving up meat altogether before the diagnosis...

ARCHIVED What Are The True Risks Of Eating Gluten?mmm..gluten replied to Magnus's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease I can respect that. In all seriousness, no offense was intended. I do consider myself lucky that I didn't have all the complications and symptoms that some people on this forum have had. Like I said, I'll shut up now and go have that almond rice toast..

ARCHIVED What Are The True Risks Of Eating Gluten?mmm..gluten replied to Magnus's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease Yeah, I have been experimenting a lot with various foods and so far it isn't as bad as I originally thought it would be. I was already very careful with my diet and exercise, so this is just one added complication that seems manageable. Thanks for the info on the follow-up. I was just curious how they did the re-examination and whether it was blood...

ARCHIVED What Are The True Risks Of Eating Gluten?mmm..gluten replied to Magnus's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease Interesting.. Hopefully this leads to more tasty gluten-free foods. Some of the stuff out there tastes like the packaging it comes in! Agreed, that's why I said I haven't noticed any changes yet. Notice I also never said "screw the diet". Jeez, you people are touchy. Must be all the crappy tasting gluten-free food! Anyway, how do they confirm...

ARCHIVED What Are The True Risks Of Eating Gluten?mmm..gluten replied to Magnus's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease Magnus, I totally agree. I feel the same way as you do - occasional bowel issues, but other than that totally asymptomatic. I have only been gluten free for a week or so, so I haven't noticed any changes yet, but my initial reaction was exactly the same as yours. I still haven't decided what I think yet, but I have to admit I was laughing hysterically...
