I'm only 3 months into being gluten free and the first two months I spent buying gluten-free snacks and crackers and cakes and cookies.... then I realized I was gaining weight eating all that junk food! For me now, snacks are fresh raw veggies, really nice cheeses (no squirt can, LOL), a handfull of organic tortilla chips (my splurge) with fresh home...
  2. I'm thinking that pre-ground black pepper, the kind most people put in their pepper shakers and use for meat rubs, etc., could very well be cross contaminated by the mills they use to grind it. I buy spices from Penzey's (penzeys.com) and I'll call them and ask if they have commercial spice grinders which are dedicated to non-gluten products. I can't think...
  3. AVR, I'm assuming your husband eats wheat and gluten when he's not home, correct? So even though your home is gluten free, he is still consuming gluten. I'm just mentioning this because when I went gluten free, my blood sugar improved (I'm pre-diabetic) and I was able to cut my asthma medicine by more than 50%. My joints have much less pain/stiffness....
