  1. Below is the response I promptly received from Skinnygirl regarding gluten in their products. I'm curious if what they say about distillation is correct and if these would be considered safe? Thanks. The ingredients in Skinnygirl Margarita are not produced from cereals containing gluten and do not contain gluten. The alcohol in Skinnygirl Sangria...
  2. Thank you, all. It's nice to know you can come on here and get it all out. I actually woke up this morning feeling a bit better physically. It will be quite some time before I get lazy in the restaurant department.
  3. This is a vent, feel sorry for myself post. I was diagnosed with GERD, Barretts Esophagus and celiac disease about 6 weeks ago and went gluten and dairy free. I started to feel better until last week when my Mom passed away after a long battle with cancer. it was so difficult to manage this diet with all of the company from out of town, being stressed...
  4. I have been gluten free for 3 weeks (confirmed celiac by blood work and biopsy) and I have also been lactose free for 1 week. Today when I went to the bathroom, my stool was yellow and had oil around it. Does this mean I have eaten something with either lactose or gluten? This is the first time I've ever seen this and it scared me. I have been super careful...
  5. A little history: Back in October I started doing the South Beach Diet. While on Phase 1 (no carbs, only veggies and lean protein/low fat dairy) I have never felt better. When I went off I felt VERY ill. Being a constant Weight Watcher member, I was amazed that I could do this South Beach and feel so unbloated and ungassy. On WW I was always suffering...
  6. thank you all
  7. ahhhh, OK, THANKS!!!!
  8. I just posted two questions - one under "coping" and one under "restaurants" and neither is showing up. Does anyone know why?
  9. Started gluten free diet yesterday. I have been reading up about what are safe and unsafe foods, but I am feeling very overwhelmed by the list. Any suggestions on how to start this up a little less painfully? I am reading labels and cross checking my unsafe list, but I can't deal with doing that every time I want to eat something. Should I go to a nutritionist...
  10. I am brand new to this - just started eating gluten free yesterday, after my biopsy. I know that Outback and Olive Garden offer gluten-free dishes. I am a very busy Mom of 2 kids that always have me running. We eat out alot. If I were to go to any random restaurant and ask for a grilled chicken breast, a baked potato and veggies, would that be safe? ...
  11. Wow, I logged on this morning and I am overwhelmed by the kindness of everyone on here. I can't thank you all enough for your words of encouragement. What a wonderful website and group of people I have found. I am confident that you will all make this journey a little more tolerable. I hope some day I can be as supportive and helpful. Thank you, Thank...
  12. Thanks again. That is good to know. I am spending too much time on different websites and I am freaking myself out. I have an aunt with scheloderma and you can only imagine where my head keeps going. I was going to pass on the biopsy, but I've decided that I am going to do it. This has been the longest few weeks. At this point I just want to get the...
  13. I can't wait to see what everyone says. I am waiting for my specialist appointment as well, all the while feeling terrible...I feel your pain.
  14. I have recently received blood tests that would indicate that I have Celiac Disease. I'm waiting for appt. with specialist. But honestly, I asked my Doctor to test me for it, so i'm pretty sure I have this lovely condition no matter what the biopsy says. And boy oh boy, am I SAD. Isn't that a strange reaction? But really, no more beer? My favorite meals...
  15. Thank you, Mushroom. Is it normal for someone with celiac disease to be within the normal range for the Gliadin AB test? Isn't that the wheat protein? Sorry, I am finding this totally overwhelming and confusing.
