  1. I am so mad at myself. I was in a meeting with my boss and my phone rang - of course it was the dr calling me back. She said the blood tests came back negative for celiac - however the best way to diagnose is biopsy doing an edoscopy (which i had done last year but not checked for celiac - i don't htink they did any biopsy of the intestine. Also I haven't...
  2. I just got tested by my dr - waiting for results. While I havne't been on gluten free diet - i have had minimal digestion because I am doing Atkins - so no bread, wheat products consumed. May have digested some in other forms - she was aware of that but didn't say it would impact the results - not until i read hear did i realize hey i probably shoudl have...
  3. Hmmm - maybe it was 200 then - i will pay more attention next time. I'll ask when she calls me back.
  4. my dr is to call me this week to decide what next steps to take - i agree it will be more than one iron infusion - think she also wanted to see how i would react. i agree will probably need more than one infusion - she's a hema so would think she knows about infusions! Funny after I posted this late last night - today i am not as sore in my hands - so i think...
  5. i had an iron infusion 8 days ago - had the Venofor. My iron level was 5 and my ferritin was below 5 (was at 5 in May and the most recent test just said it was less than 10 but not a specific number) with my saturation levels my dr said I was on fumes! Anyway - had the iron infusion - no symptoms - just some facial flusing. No problems at all. the first...
  6. Unfortunately i don't know what she is testing - or I should say what she is looking for -she just said that she was testing me for celiac - my concern as I have mention in other posts is I have been wheat free since april - not gluten free as i have learned it is hidden in a lot things - but havne't consumed a lot i suspect. My inflammatory markers have...
  7. Before the doctors brought up celiac for me (still waiting on my results) i heard on the news that in Europe it is part of their regular work up to test for gluten allergies in children. Now - I don't recall if they are looking for the DNA test or searching for the anitbodies or just doing it as an allergy test but found that so interesting. Its a shame in...
  8. Thanks for the reply! I will consider retesting after going on a normal gluten if the results are negative. There is no reason i should have such low iron or folate based on my current diet. thanks for listening!
  9. Thanks for the reply. I kept reading about you had to be on gluten to get accurate test results - so i will see what comes back and then maybe suggest retesting after eating gluten for a while. at least on Atkins the gluten free won't be that drastic of a change. I plan to keep this lifestyle for life - i still have another 70 pounds to go. At least i have...
  10. My journey began around 2 years ago - went to the dr cause i had swollen lymph nodes, night sweats extreme fatigue and fequent low grade fever and just general feeling like crap. I went from an active (overweight yes but very active) person - worked out 3 times a week, have 3 kids doing stuff to barely able to just go to work. they ruled out some obvious...
