  1. Thanks. This is really helpful. I think probably I need to go to the GI guy again and find out how to present this so that she takes it seriously. Also, I think she is now convinced the gluten free diet is making me sick, because all of these symptoms have only appeared after I went on it! But as another one of my friends said, it's the whole digestive process...
  2. No actual symptoms. A liver enzyme test result. That's part of why this is so hard to deal with. It's all numbers on charts.
  3. I can't do this. I simply can't. I have a full time job. I would basically have to not eat in our house. I mean, I guess I *can* not eat in our house, but how depressing.
  4. I went to my doctor for my usual annual checkup, and he said that my liver enzymes were elevated, which could have been about 40 different things, so we started testing for all of them. At test #5 or 6, he hit gluten antibodies, so he sent me for a biopsy. Biopsy came up positive. But all either my GP or the GE could tell me was that I "might" get really...
  5. And now, of course, I just made the kid toast and got the g'dm crumbs in the g'dm butter and now I don't get any butter with breakfast. I hate my life.
  6. Thanks. The thing is, I can't say I would be "on my back." I didn't have any symptoms. That's what I'm struggling with - a huge life change that didn't cure anything visible. We know people with celiac disease! They get really sick if they eat gluten. I think if I had that, my wife would be totally on board. But she's probably a little convinced it's "all...
  7. Hello all. I was diagnosed in March via blood test and biopsy and immediately went gluten free. However, I had no visible symptoms. Since going gluten free, both my health and my marriage have declined. My wife was initially supportive but after a few months said she's tired and frustrated of my restrictions. I often have to cook my own food separate...
  8. This continues to be very helpful. I'm definitely feeling physically odd, but I know it's because I've been very nervous and eating weird; for instance, I had way too much Ben & Jerry's New York Super Fudge Chunk ice cream last night after Googling it. ("It's gluten free so the calories don't count, right?") pricklypear1971, definitely, avoiding food...
  9. Thank you folks. I just Amazoned a large box of Kind bars which are going to be my dinner during my upcoming business event. nvsmom, I'm so stressed out by this diagnosis I hadn't even thought of talking to the caterers in advance. Thank you for reminding me! tgk112, any tips or Web sites I can check to start building a list of restaurant foods? It...
  10. I've been reading through this Web site and I really feel for all of you. So many people on this site have been through so much and it's great to see you get relief. I'm wondering if you've heard of stories like mine, and if you have any suggestions for me. I was just (today!) diagnosed with celiac after a biopsy. The suspicion was raised after I went...
