Ktb, Be aware there is an over utilization of PPIs today. Here is some research about it entitled "Overutilization of proton-pump inhibitors: what the clinician needs to know" https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/22778788/ Even short term use of PPIs can cause "Rebound Symptom's" locking in their use. See these links....maybe it will help...

Candida infection or something else?
Posterboy replied to Ferguston's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Plumbago, As I understand your argument is against the website quoted and not the evidence for or against Thiamine. Here is another link that explains a Thiamine deficiency well (Not Beri Beri).....which I think (from what I have read to this point and understand)....is when Thiamine levels' drop low enough to be clinically identifiable. https... -
To All, This is the thread I said I would start.... This analysis/opinion will turn on the neurotransmitter Acetylcholine. While it is well known Acetylcholine effects our CNS....it is less well know that Acetylcholine also performs the same function for the Parasympathetic Nervous System. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:1503_Connections...

Candida infection or something else?
Posterboy replied to Ferguston's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Plumbago, Knitty Kitty and Ferguston, I am going to start a new topic/thread about this discussion. "What Role does a Thiamine Deficiency if any play in a Celiac diagnosis" Feel free to join me there.....so we don't overrun the Candida infection or something else thread.... It would also make it easier for future forum users to find this... -
Belching after stopping long term PPI use
Posterboy replied to trents's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Trents, I think it is a sign you are healing....be aware acid reflux symptom's might hang on for another 2 or 3 months until your stomach acid levels finally recovery to full strength. A little burp....means a little strength.... See if drinking water....causes you to burp/belch more.... Sodas (Carbonated) drinks will make the belching... -
Oxalates in Avocado
Posterboy replied to Cynthia Kirr's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Cynthia, Since you are obvious interested in Oxalates in your diet. I think you would be interested in reading this article. https://www.hormonesmatter.com/solving-medically-unsolvable-thiamine-oxalates/ You might want to stay away from over consumption of teas as well. https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/002432... -
"Food, I have gone almost completely carnivore mostly because it is cheaper to just live on eggs, ground meat, canned fish, and bacon then spending on nuts. Although I have started having to only scan half my food at self checkout and keep most hidden in the bottom of reusable bags but this allows me to get by on just food stamps. Also skipping meals when...

Sick and losing the will to live
Posterboy replied to David Dawson's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
David, For your depression you might try some Magnesium Citrate with meals.....Magnesium has been studied in people that have depression. It can help with chronic fatigue. Here is the study in Depressed people......I have taken it myself....and really recommend it for depression issues... Entitled "Rapid recovery from major depression... -
Ktb, I have been staying out of this thread.....I have had other life issues come up... I could of been your daughter as a teenager.....I do a lot of deep research....mainly in the beginning to find out what was wrong with me that the doctor's couldn't figure out. It has been a long and winding road....but slowly I began to finally put all...

Cyclinglady, Thank you for that wikipedia link....i admittedly haven't read up it (Xeljanz)....I know biologics do have exceedingly high risk.... I have a friend who's wive takes a biologic for her RA and he is rightly always worried about her getting sick from the common cold... I knew the price was high $$$ but I didn't know it was quite...

Cyclinglady and Trents, This might of worked better as a Poll.....but I thought that would be better set up by a Moderator. Cyclinglady I agree with everything said but my question was "Would YOU be involved in Clinical Trials to test this medicine to treat your Celiac Disease" or essentially be part of a trial to confirm these results where not...

To All, I know Celiac.com will write an article explaining/reporting this new research soon.....I just wanted to get it out there to discuss for now until Scott can get an article published about it. https://medicalxpress.com/news/2020-07-arthritis-drug-coeliac-patients-gluten.html What do you think? Would you be involved in Clinical trials...

Symptoms
Posterboy replied to Davidcrook's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
DavidCrook, I think Knitty Kitty has given you a good resource. Try finding some Benfotiamine a Fat Soluble B1 and take it with meals. See this article about the Vitamins deficiency that can cause a racing heart.... https://www.livestrong.com/article/503879-vitamin-deficiencies-racing-heart/ Thiamine and Magnesium Glycinate can also... -
Trets Et Al, Cyclinglady has given you good advise.....as she usually does. I will try and be brief (as least for me).....I have other things I am working on these days... I have summarized a lot of what I might say in this Posterboy blog post....so I wouldn't have to type everything out every time... Pellagra shows up in other disease...

Candida infection or something else?
Posterboy replied to Ferguston's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Plumbago and Ferguston, SIBO is more common in Celiac's than people/doctor's understand often these days. The same can be said about a Thiamine deficiency in the Obese.... See this research about it....entitled "Thiamin(e) Deficiency in People with Obesity" https://academic.oup.com/advances/article/6/2/147/4558021 If you have Refeeding... -
Candida infection or something else?
Posterboy replied to Ferguston's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Plumbago and Knitty Kitty, This is the reference work by Lonsdale on the difference between a Thiamine Deficiency and Beri Beri....there is a difference... Plumbago I am posting it mainly for you....I have been reducing my time on the forum to focus more on spiritual issues and other things in life related to family and I thought it might help... -
Candida infection or something else?
Posterboy replied to Ferguston's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Plumbago et Al, They probably think they have Reefeeding Syndrome because I recently wrote a posterboy blog post on it. Electrolyte abnormalities and unintended weight loss could be a sign of Refeeding syndrome going undiagnosed or it could be a Celiac Crisis... Here a couple articles about it...one entitled "Refeeding syndrome in adults with... -
To All, This came up in another thread so as not to spam the other topic/thread. I have created another thread about it. How about it has other people had trouble with SSRIs, NSAIDS or PPIs that effect their GI tract. Or Losartan like me. Here is the threads that have been started previously about this topic. And here is a study about...

Trents, I think Cyclinglady covered it well. Here is the link to the study about this phenomenon that was in the thread for those who don't want to read the whole thread or don't have the time. Entitled "Letter: sprue‐like enteropathy associated with angiotensin II receptor blockers other than olmesartan" IE Losartan as it was in my case. ...

Cycylinglady, The BMJ article I cited was from 2014 and updated the split(s) to show it was more like 50/50 SIBO and Celiac disease. Sometimes more recent studies are not available....but I did quote the latest I could find on it... It is kind of like title insurance.....do you want your Mortage company only to certify your house back 10 years...

GINAGF, It sounds like you have found your trigger. If your Ttg levels continue to be up or even rise after making this adjustment in you medications you might have them check your ANA levels too.....You might have developed a 2nd Auto-immune disease. Here is a nice article to have in your back pocket if your Ttg levels continue to be elevated...

Candida infection or something else?
Posterboy replied to Ferguston's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Ferguston, I looked at the label.....I didn't see anything that stood out... Some B-Vitamins have B-Like substances....kind of Para B-Vitamins....but are not considered true B-Vitamins... Inositol, Choline and PABA for example... I personally can't handle anything with Calcium in it...B-5 Panothenic Acid in the D-calcium form.... I... -
Cyclinglady, I actually only recently came across this research on Celiac.com (last month or two)....but it still good research... The more recent research I just quoted from the BMJ puts SIBO in Celiac's at approx. 50 pct this early research but this puts it a more like 2/3.... quoting from the Celiac.com article about this topic of potential...
-
Trents et Al, I think I was rushing....I do that sometimes...what I meant was if you could be having a False Positive look into SIBO.....especially if Weight Loss is a concern. SIBO can also trigger a Positive result. Here is nice study about it from the BMJ.... https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3926449/ And their concluding...

Trents, The acid reducers could of lowered her stomach acid enough to have triggered another positive for Celiac disease. The link to low/NO stomach acid was studied 30+ years ago but people don't associate the two any more. Here is the research about Low/NO stomach acid in Celiac's. entitled "Gastric morphology and function in dermatitis...
