  1. Kate333, I am glad you brought this topic up.....I have been saying similar thing about Low Stomach acid as it relates to GI problems for years.... It is good to hear someone besides myself say it... Here is a Posterboy blog post I wrote about it over 3 years ago. https://www.celiac.com/blogs/entry/2106-is-ncgs-andor-celiac-disease-really...
  2. Sandra, Take you some Riboflavin.....with meals.....I had your problem(s) once upon a time...an Enzymic B-Vitamin might bee good to take too....since B-Vitamins work synergistically... You might find sunlight is hard on your eyes as well....Riboflavin helps protects our eyes from UV light and why looking into the sunlight (NOT the sun) can cause...
  3. Plumbago, I said the same thing when my doctor diagnosed me with NAFLD. Turns out it was probably from too much HFCS in my diet... I mentioned this earlier but accidentally forgot to include the link.. "Fructose: It's “Alcohol Without the Buzz”" https://academic.oup.com/advances/article/4/2/226/4591631 A few quick citations.......
  4. To All, I agree with Plumbago we need to start another thread that more accurately describes the direction this thread has taken.... I quoted the Micronutrient study because it showed in newly diagnosed Adult Celiac's....they are low according to the Mayo Clinic...entitled "Micronutrient Deficiencies Are Common in Contemporary Celiac Disease Despite...
  5. Plumbago et Al, Forgive me this will be WTL....but maybe it will help you or someone else.... At every step of the way I have had to back track behind doctor's to find out what was wrong with me.....I am lucky I found Mangesium Citrate first....for it helped my energy and fatigue issues, and muscle cramps.....12 hours of sleep were never enough...
  6. Plumbago, Glycinate will not cause a "laxative" effect the way Citrates in high doses do! I have done both....I started with Citrates because they are highly absorb able.... Glycinate is well tolerated and can be taken without meals if so desired.....and work well to take at night.. The RDA is low for Magnesium many times you can take...
  7. DJ, I took the liberty to search for a good thread on Celiac.com about Magnesium and the flushing effect you are describing sometimes experienced on a empty stomach when taking Magnesium Citrate usually as powder. https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/118470-magnesium-citrate/?tab=comments#comment-977083 You should NEVER take a Magnesium Citrate...
  8. SomberCookie, I was lucky to find Magnesium Citrate early in my journey.....I was using it for "Charlie Horses" and depression.....but it helped my fatigue as well and gave me wonderful restful REM (dream) state as well. I wish more people knew about Magnesium....we are said to "waste away" without enough Magnesium. I am glad to hear.....it...
  9. To All, I saw this well designed research recently and thought it would be a good article to start a thread about to discuss this new research. https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/chemical-pollutant-exposure-linked-to-celiac-disease-in-young-people#POPs-increase-the-risk-of-celiac-disease This would be a nice topic to cover as an article...
  10. Awol Cast Iron Stomach, I am glad you found it helpful.....it is too bad for Celiac's that doctor's in the Western world never look for this connection... Here is a nice study about how this is happening (still being diagnosed in India)....along with a Celiac diagnosis entitled "Celiac Crisis/Refeeding Syndrome Combination: New Mechanism for...
  11. Smooches, Try taking the Amino Acid Tyrosine....it has been linked to RLS.... Also try to get your doctor to check you for SIBO it also recently been linked to RLS as well... 13. To All. Is Refeeding Syndrome being misdiagnosed as Celiac Disease today? Refeeding Syndrome happens among the severely malnourished and having Celiac disease is a risk for a Refeeding Syndrome leading to a Celiac Crisis aka Celiac diagnosis. See this research entitled “Celiac Crisis: an unusual presentation of gluten-sensitive enteropathy” whe...
  14. DJ, Take you some Magnesium Citrate with Meals or Magnesium Glycinate any time....(best for bed time).... And your Insomnia should improve.... Here is a great study on it.....if you need more convincing entitled "The Effect of Magnesium Supplementation on Primary Insomnia in Elderly: A Double-Blind Placebo-Controlled Clinical Trial" ...
  15. Wheatwacked, I am glad you found something that helps you. My point was (presumably) that your Potassium level's didn't improve until you started taking the Magnesium Citrate thus restoring your electrolyte balance in the body. I had a similar experience 10+years ago...but I didn't know what is was called at the time....I only knew I got better...
  16. Phosis, Sometimes threads are not seen right way....I believe only very popular threads.....show so every body sees them any more....so if this thread gets popular...it will "Pop" up on other people's radar... Since I saw nobody else has answered hopefully this is helpful and explains why your "thread" has not been picked up right away.... but...
  17. Wheatwacked, Because Magnesium can restore electrolyte balance....your change over to Magnesium Citrate could of kick started the benefits you have noticed after changing over to Magnesium Citrate from a Magnesium Oxide....which didn't seem to help you due to it's low absorption rate... Low Potassium Levels have been shown to effect hearing......
  18. KatieCD, What type (form) of Magnesium are you using....I can almost guarantee it is not Magnesium Glycinate/Citrate because these are more expensive versions and harder to find usually.... Magnesium Citrate with meals and Magnesium Glycinate (with or without meals) is/are the best form(s) to take... Also try finding the Benfotiamine (fat...
  19. Wheatwacked, I had a friend who's doctor had him on 5 Gram of Potassium ....but it didn't help his Low Potassium levels until he took Magnesium Citrate at my urging... I have shared the Schroll research before but will do again for other's following this thread... Entitled the Importance of Magnesium for Electrolyte Homeostasis.... http...
  20. Wheatwacked et Al, If I remember correctly you said you had started taking Magnesium Citrate as well....to see if it could help your Low Potassium levels.... And apparently it is helping....also Magnesium and Thiamine work together synergistic-ally.....the Magnesium allows you to convert your free thiamine into an active form in the body....this...
  21. Allise, I like your Moral of the Story..... I found many of my co-morbid conditions could be attributed to existing vitamin deficiencies I developed because of my Celiac disease. Here are some articles that can explain how existing Vitamin deficiencies could explain your Iron Deficient Anemia, skin issues and hair loss.... Entitled "The...
  22. Knitty Kitty, Here are more Thiamine links of associated conditions that doctor's don't know today are associated with a Thiamine Deficiency.
