  1. Never Like Roller Coasters, Celiac.com did an article on the topic of Hemochromatosis aka known as iron overload a few years ago. Here it is. I have had similar issues.....so I feel your pain.....but since I do so much research for myself (and my friends)....sometimes I actually get lucky and find things that can/could help people. I found...
  2. Yash, Being from India your over reliance on Rice might be causing you to have low Thiamine levels where Beri Beri is still common. I like your research but it doesn't answer the question of persistent inflammation outside the GI track and through the whole body. See this research that shows how taking Baking Soda might help with that....it...
  3. Rhyo9 and Knitty Kitty, Here is some research that might help both of you. To follow on what Knitty Kitty said about Cyclic Vomiting. A Thiamine deficiency has now been shown to be the trigger for Anorexia.... See this research entitled "Thiamine deficiency induces anorexia by inhibiting hypothalamic AMPK" https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm...
  4. Never Liked Roller Coasters, Funny enough....there is a DH thread with the same name that will/can help you with getting up to speed on DH. It explains how some other Celiac's have used Niacin to help with the itching DH causes. Again I hope this is helpful but it is not medical advise. Posterboy,
  5. Never Liked Roller Coasters. Try you some Niacin (will cause flushing) but after a week on it.....the flushing will diminish and so will the itching.... If the flushing is a problem you can take aspirin with it....or better yet take some Quercetin and Luteolin with it. Here is an article about it entitled "The flavonoid luteolin inhibits niacin...
  6. Never Like Roller Coasters, I am pretty sure you got a Whole Blood Thiamine test and not the ETKA test recommended by Dr. Lonsdale to measure the EKTA activity for a true Thiamine deficiency. See the Hormone Matters links above about understanding the Lab Tests results... It is no one's fault....your doctor can only order the Thiamine tests...
  7. Never Liked Roller Coasters and Cyclinglady, I have written a Posterboy blog post that might help you. https://www.celiac.com/blogs/entry/2731-a-case-for-thiamine-supplemenation-in-celiacs-if-only-for-a-season-in-time/ I have tried to share my experience so that others might be helped by my suffering going undiagnosed. The symmetrical...
  8. CharlesBronson, You might try and take some BetaineHCL with meals and a couple glasses of water/liquid. Water activates the Powdered stomach acid.....so never take it on a empty stomach or without water preferably....tea will work if you prefer that. I have taken it myself (years ago).....it will provide a warm sensation in your abdomen if...
  9. Never Liked Roller Coasters and DJFL Et Al, So as to keep the other reply length manageable....I have started another reply. I don't think I would of tested low in Thiamine anyway for the above reasons plus one more. I found Magnesium FIRST....and it act's like a Primer for Thiamine and anyone taking Magnesium Citrate or Glycinate can use...
  10. Never Liked Roller Coasters and DJFL Et Al, Because B1 tests are rarely performed unless your an Alcoholic and probably been admitted to the ER it can be hard to get an accurate test result. For example DJFL link said to fast for 12 hours.....I have never been told to ever fast that long for a test... 8 hours is all I have ever fasted for a...
  11. To All, I came across this article again recently. I think it will explain itself well entitled "Vitamin deficiencies may be the only sign of Celiac disease" https://www.reuters.com/article/us-health-celiac-diagnosis-idUSKCN1TQ287 I wrote a blog post about it once....and it garnered concern at the time....but I think for me it is clear that...
  12. DJFL, Here is the research Knitty Kitty mentioned about HFCS entitled "Fructose: It's “Alcohol Without the Buzz" https://academic.oup.com/advances/article/4/2/226/4591631 Order Benfotiamine and take it with meals and it will help you.... ThiamineHCL (found in many B-complex Vitamins) usually is on absorbed from 5 to 10 pct max! I h...
  13. To All, I am go to cite this article that I came across recently....and yes it is two or three years old but it outlines well.....very well the medical industries idea about how it thinks about vitamins versus drugs.... NOTE: I am not saying this....an insider IE or Other doctor's who work in the medical field is saying this, mind you. I am...
  14. Knitty Kitty and DJFL et al, I don't know how to do multi quote over two pages in the forum... DJFL.....Knitty Kitty has given you good advise. So I am just copying and pasting her reply here... quoting Knitty Kitty "I'll say it again..... Celiac Disease causes malabsorption which results in malnutrition and vitamin and mineral...
  15. Pinkpixie, Here is a couple articles that might help you and add to what Knitty Kitty said. I had researched this topic a few months ago for someone else who had a similar question so I bookmarked these articles to help the next person who had similar questions. https://www.webmd.com/a-to-z-guides/bowel-transit-time-test#2 https://ndnr...
  16. NeverlikeRollercoasters, I read this recently so it is currently on my mind. See this Hormone Matters article that explains a similar case. https://www.hormonesmatter.com/case-classic-beriberi-america-thiamine-deficiency/ quoting from the article... "The mother described how her son “…went out drinking with friends. The next day...
  17. A Case for Thiamine Supplementation in Celiac’s IF only for a Season in Time I have been doing Posterboy blog posts every so often now for a while now to share my experience with supplementation. I have settled on the fact that many of the existing GI issues can triggered by existing nutritional deficiencies. ((I think most people must think I...
  18. To All, I just wanted to post this nice video article on Thiamine and it's role in a healthy Vagus nerve I came across recently. If you have time to watch it all (it is a little over an hour)....I think it will help you see how taking Befotiamine can help many of your GI issues....because your GI motility will improve from a better functioning Vagus...
  19. Trents, Try taking the Benfotiamine form of B1 with your B-complex. I think it will help you. It has much higher Bio-availability than the ThiaimineHCL often found in most supplements. Best taken with food for better absorption. Here is an article on it entitled "Pharmacokinetic study of benfotiamine and the bioavailability assessment...
  20. Knitty Kitty et Al, I will try and be brief since I said/spent to much time in replying to this thread on Vitamins.... Posted here for anybody who wants to read it... That low Thiamine levels can predict Sepsis.....and it would explain why approx. 50% of Celiac's could be diagnosed with Refeeding Syndrome if the doctors knew to look for...
  21. Cyclinglady and Knitty Kitty, Similar mechanisms have been show to be at work in ME/CFS in patients who were low in Magnesium. Because we get low in Magnesium....our ability to produce energy via the Krebs cycle is interrupted and chronic fatigue follows.... http://simmaronresearch.com/2015/08/epstein-barr-virus-the-magnesium-connection/ Dr...
  22. Cyclinglady, Thanks for finding and posting that. I think I might of found that a few months ago but wasn't sure what it meant or whether it would be accepted or not. Then life happened and I got busy with other things. The B-Complex's have been recently been studied and shown to down regulate inflammation in animals. This would explain...
  23. Sheri, No Celiac disease can not be cured with medicine yet at least. Keeping on the topic of Gut Microbiota and/or sepsis or Viruses triggering disease. Taking a B-Complex might be helpful to you. The combination of B1 (Thiamine) B2 (Riboflavin) and B3 (Niacin) has been studied to down regulate inflammation in animals. https://pubmed...
  24. Knitty Kitty, Thanks for that link. I will be sure to watch it all when I get the chance. I came across some research recently that I thought was worth sharing. Entitled "Biomarkers for Detecting Thiamine Deficiency—Improving Confidence and Taking a Comprehensive History are also Important" https://academic.oup.com/alcalc/article/45/...
  25. Scott, That is good research thanks for sharing. I have come across other research over the years that link a Dysbiosis to several health conditions. Is Celiac disease the next one? Here they are if it will help someone else. https://www.latimes.com/science/sciencenow/la-sci-sn-gut-bacteria-aging-20181115-story.html https://www...
