  1. Happy birthday and may God bless you today!

  2. I was tested for celiac, it was negative, but I suspect I may have a gluten sensitivity or intolerance, mostly because I am seeing a neurologist for spinocerebellar ataxia, and there is such a strong connection between gluten and ataxia. Anyhow, I went gluten-free for maybe a month, and I was reading about the disease and diet meanwhile (Wheat Free, Worry...
  3. [quote name='Matilda' date='Apr 30 2006, 07: Thanks for the reply and links, Matilda. The print-outs will be very helpful to take to my neurologist at UCLA. I have no history of celiac disease, or any kind of allergy or intolerance in my family, and I have been tall and skinny all my life, so my doctor might see any further gluten testing pointless. ...
  4. I was tested negative for celiac disease by Prometheus, but I wonder if I might have gluten intolerance. What is the best way to find out? Thanks. My only symptom is neurological.

    ARCHIVED Fast Food

It was very helpful (and fun!!) for me to make a safety book of restaurant menus. I printed the info from the internet, and put those pages into protective plastic sleeves and put all the info. together in a small binder. McDonald's has a lot of safe food, and is a user-friendly site, as is Outback. Since going gluten-free, my big addiction is protein...

    ARCHIVED Weight Gain

What are the advantages to that diet? I don't have Celiac, but suspect some intolerance or sensitivity, and I've always been underweight and am really trying to change that. Thanks.

    ARCHIVED Yay!

    I'm glad.

    ARCHIVED Yay!

In some small and mysterious way, I think this will help me cope with the gluten-free life.
  9. Karina, I've always been too thin also, and I really started to gain weight doing weight-bearing exercise. The best thing is to do a small number of repititions with as high of a weight as you can. Your muscles will adapt, and begin to grow quickly. And Remember that muscle weighs more than fat.

    ARCHIVED Weight Loss

Jenn2005, I've been snacking like crazy, and putting a lot of honey in my whole milk plain yogurt and having a banana in my 4% milkfat cottage cheese. Plus, my pantry is "choc" full of chocolate in just about every form.

    ARCHIVED Weight Loss

Is it normal to lose weight on a gluten-free diet? I've been gluten-free for about three weeks, and my scale tells me I've lost 6 lbs. How do I get those lbs. back? If I really did lose them, I need to find them!
  12. Are tortillas OK?
  13. There will be an episode of Mystery Diagnosis on The Learning Channel dealing with Celiac this week. (I think it's Thursday, but I'm not sure.)
