  1. Every year our local grocer, HyVee, has a special where you guy a full ham and get a free turkey. Of course the free ones had broth listed as the main ingredient, and so did the local HyVee brand. So I found a BUtterball, with no broth listed in the ingredients, and it said "natural" on the label (which I know can mean nothing, of course). Then after I got...
  2. This is very interesting because I also felt I was getting "glutened" from B&Gs Cream of Rice, which was particularly upsetting because they specifically put that they are a sponsor of Celiac Foundation, which made me feel like it was probably "safe". After emailing (because I was also feeling symptoms I couldn't figure out) here is the response I received...
  3. Well a trip to the Doc revealed bursitis in my knee (lucky me). She feels, as also everyone here is sort of saying, that this should go away with time. I sure hope so because the alternative sounded rather painful!
  4. All these comments have been very useful, thanks to everyone who shared their thoughts. I've checked out the elimination diet (very similar to the paleo diet which I was also considering) and am going to start with that. I am hoping I can add some foods back in at some later date, though at this point it seems hardly worth the chance of feeling sick all the...
  5. Yup actually the pharmacy did call and was told the water pill was gluten free. Another pill, for headaches, was not and was switched but I haven't used that one since (its for migraines and I haven't at least had one of those since this whole thing started). I'm starting to wonder about whether everyone really even knows, even in the case of these manufactures...
  6. Ah yes this is all great! Now it makes sense why this seemed like a rational solution! It seemed so radical when I started thinking about it, so I'm glad it is something that just makes the best health sense. I'm going to try this and see how it goes! At least I'll know. Though, I do think I'll have to ask my Doctor about eliminating the water pill. While...
  7. So I was diagnosed almost a month ago. For the most part, as far as I can tell, I've removed gluten from my diet, checked medications, changed shampoo and conditioner, and limit my processed foods, gluten-free and all. The problem is, I still have bloating, gas, constipation, and now even have new symptoms I didn't have before, like excessive swelling...
  8. Thank you so much for this. Your thoughts are pretty much where I was headed. Although I'll admit yesterday morning I was feeling great (no constipation, no upset stomach, no intestines in knots) and I thought to myself "you know maybe I don't have Celiac after all", which was a terribly irrational thought, because 2 seconds later I reminded myself that I...
  9. Thanks everyone for the thoughts. These were my blood test results: Immunoglobulin A 210 mg/dL 70-400 Tissue Transglutaminase IgA Ab 68.6 U/mL <4.0 H Gliadin Peptide IgA Antibody 98 U <20 H The doctor felt I could just choose to go on the gluten-free...
  10. I've recently been diagnosed as Celiac through a blood test. On top of the blood test results I also have had unexplained anemia for years, started having numbness in my toes, and have had at least another 1/2 dozen symptoms including severe headaches and unexplained fatigue. Unlike many Celiacs however, I have always been over weight, not underweight...
