  1. My daughter is 8 and was diagnosed with celiac disease 7 months ago. Her TTG level was >100 and the endoscopy and biopsy were both positive. She has been gluten-free since Feb. 1. We went for bloodwork last week and the GI said that her TTG level was down to 5. I was really happy about this until Google got the best of me and said that it shouldn't...
  2. Is the recipe the same, just with gluten-free flour? I teach Kindergarten and make my own playdough for them. My 8 year old was just diagnosed Celiac, so I figure next time I'll ask a parent to make it for me (I don't want to use regular flour in my house). But she enjoys playing with it at home.
  3. No chance in an IEP. She has a speech delay and they won't take her for that because it doesn't cause an academic issue. Seriously? Articulation has nothing to do with academics. In the district my child is in, EVERYTHING is dependent on educational impact. They won't consider anything for her because she does well in school (obsessively so...to...
  4. I've had this appointment for the neuro psych eval for 6 months. I just want some answers. It's getting to the point where I can't handle her anymore. Hopefully cutting the gluten will make it better. Though the doctor at Johns Hopkins Hospital told me that research does not support the correlation between gluten and behavior... Thanks for the advice
  5. I was asking for a 504. Basically, she is like a bomb. I wanted accommodations to help detonate it, but they want her to explode before giving her any accommodations. They decided they are just going to unofficially accommodate her, but it is not uniform throughout the school. Because of the urinary issues (frequent accidents, which aren't really accidents...
  6. Hi I posted in "Coping" regarding my 8 year old daughter's diagnosis. I didn't scroll down far enough to see this forum. I was reading the topic on school snacks, and some of you talked about your child having a 504. Is Celiac covered under a 504? I went in earlier this year for a SST meeting and they told me my daughter didn't qualify for one...
  7. Hi My daughter is 8 and is being diagnosed Celiac. She is having growth issues (hasn't grown any in 3 years) so the ped did some blood work. Growth hormone and thyroid levels are normal. The blood test was positive for Celiac. We went to Johns Hopkins pediatric GI clinic, where they said that her level was 100, which made them 99.9% sure she is...
