  1. Hi- I had been following a gluten free diet for about threeish weeks, and then this weekend i got frustrated and decided that because only my IgA was semi positive, despite my doctor's encouragement to try the diet because she was alarmed at the antibodies and i already have an autoimmune disease, that i was going to eat brownies and drink beer on saturday...
  2. Hi, I am actually following a gluten free diet right now. My doctor said she thought if it helped with any/all stomach problems I may have then why not give it a shot. My blood tests though are overwhelmingly negative. I posted them in a previous post but I think I may have given the only two that I thought might be slightly abnormal above in the post......
  3. Hi- I dont think I'm IgA deficient. I just had a blood test done by my doctor and the results were negative. My IgA was an 8 (ref range <11= negative). My Serum IgA was 162 (ref range 81-463). My serum IgA seems low, but I dont know if that would impact a test at all. My doctor advised me to go on a gluten free diet becuase she thought the IgA antibodies...
  4. In regard to blood test results, are there any precursors to testing positive? Like would a certain antibody be raised but not necessarily over the top limit of the reference range? If you have a tendency to have bouts of stomach problems for a while to be followed by periods of time with no real issues, could that also affect the results of a blood...
  5. Thanks! Its just tricky for me, because to some extent I'm not sure what symptoms are related to this at all and I could expect to see alleviated. Then again, I guess that if I tried gluten free and watched to see what happened to my body in general that would be good. I think it's just frustrating, because my stomach problems are very much on and off...
  6. Hi everyone, A week ago I got a call from my endo who tested me for celiac (she thought i might have it cause I have some stomach problems and hashimotos) and she told me that the results indicate I might want to try and avoid gluten and see what happens. She thought one of the values seemed high although it was within the ref range. I called today...
  7. Hi - I was just reading a pretttty old post, but it was about using quest labs. The person who posted said that they had been told not to use quest labs because they often yield false negative results... I always use quest for my thyroid testing, but is it better to go through a different lab when testing for celiac? Thanks!
  8. Hi everyone, My doctor just called me and said that the quest lab gave me four tests (I think one wasn't included because my antibodies turned up negative... I think that's what they do at least). Only one came back slightly abnormal. My antigliadin antibodies were in the upper range at 8 (but I dont know the range... ). Now, she said, that if I want...
  9. Hi everyone- My doctor just sent me a blood lab with a full celiac panel. I'm not sure what else I can get tested for, but I figure that's the best place to start. I already have a thyroid problem... that I suspect I've had virtually most of my life but have only been medicated for four years... So I guess, according to many things I read and my doc...
  10. Hi - What tests should I absolutely positively make sure to have my doctor run? I keep trying to figure it out, but I just dont understand how it works at all. I already have a thyroid problem- so my doctor said this wouldn't be super unlikely and might help explain the hair loss I've experienced over the last four or five years that my old doctor always...
  11. I had a full thyroid panel (Thank god my doc is awesome!) Ferritin, B12, CBC Panel with differential platelets and a Comp metabolic panel. Are those helpful? Nothing seems abnormal everything is pretty much mid range or at least within normal range...
  12. I also about three months ago started getting really weird cystic acne in random places on my face... Can this be connected? No matter what I do, it never seems to go away. Can this be another manifestation of celiac disease? I never broke out before, and I'm on bcp which is supposed to make it even more unlikely, but this isn't like little zits... It's like...
  13. Hi everyone, I'm new to this site and celiac disease in general... I've had hypothyroid for about the last fourish-fiveish years, and finally found a doctor that has decided to up my dosage in compliance with new standards...I'm starting to feel better slowly... But I feel like something is missing. I've been losing hair since I was about 16, right...
