  1. hi all, I have brain fog and I suspect that is due to gluten sensitivity. When I became aware of those symptoms in the past, I did an elimination diet, and gluten introduction seemed to correlate with the perceived brain fog Then, I was off gluten for a year, but because it is self-diagnosed it is not always easy to explain it and remain 100%...
  2. Thanks KMJ That idea makes a lot of sense, but I checked the article and they say that " gelatin capsules are discouraged and the vehicle should be "cooked, homogeneously distributed gluten..." They ask for 8g of gluten/day, which they claim is a normal gluten consumption for a gluten eater in the western world Thanks a lot for the idea and...
  3. Thanks for your help manasota My only reference to the 14 days is that article. I d like to get tested, and i would not like to do a longer than needed GC... Does anybody have any experience with the celiac testing kits that you buy in pharmacies? Not sure if they are relieble, but I was thinking that i could try using them after 14 days (every...
  4. Thanks a lot for you reply manasota! I am asking this question because i read this article: Open Original Shared Link, where they claim that 14 day GC at ≥ 3 g of gluten/day is enough 14 day sounds way better than 12 weeks, and i am curious to see how much food that corresponds to Thanks!
  5. Hi all, I am thinking of starting a gluten challenge, and i read recommendations like 3g of gluten/day for x number of weeks. How much is 3g of gluten? In terms of bread, pasta, pizza slices.... Thanks!!!
  6. Yes, my doctor checked for the Iron, and TS, which were very low, and also for Serum Ferritin, which was normal I am probably reading into this a bit too much, but after reading this infogram about celiac disease symptoms: Open Original Shared Link I see that my iron levels are low, but also my calcium levels are slightly low, and my vitD levels...
  7. Hi cyclinglady, Thanks a lot for your reply I definitely feel better since I am gluten-free, but i don't follow it 100% of the time (i'd say 90-95%) It is only when things are less within my control that i eat gluten... I d love to be diagnosed, which is why i d like to do that self-diagnose experiment. I agree is a bit too technical, but i...
  8. I posted 3 times this new thread by mistake... sorry... I have tried to delete the other 2...
  9. HI all, Hope you are all having a great Xmas! I think I have NGCS, at least according to the symptoms after doing an elimination diet. I have been gluten-free for a year now... My symptoms are neurological: brain fog, focus loss... Being self-diagnosed I still have problems to be 100% gluten-free when I am invited to a friend/family house...
  10. That sounds pretty painful, but thanks a lot to you all for your replies and help
  11. You were right about the beer. I reintroduced it without noticeable effects. The only beer that made me foggy was Guinness (I have no idea of their gluten content) Another thing: this Easter I reintroduced wheat for a few days. As expected, I felt foggy. It even gave a hangover the following day (not nice). Once I went back to work, I stopped eating wheat...
  12. Yes, I should go for it. The idea scares me but I can see the benefits of getting diagnosed in the long run One question I have: all the gluten challenges relate to eating wheat... would drinking a beer or two have the same effect on the tests? Also, if you test positive in the standard celiac tests, how do you know whether it was a gluten reaction,...
  13. I really enjoyed Grain Brain, because he was describing something I was really experiencing, a very annoying brain fog which disappeared once i was off wheat. I felt very closed to his neurological perspective of gluten in general. The part that still really baffles me is that a respected neurologist which book and thoughts are backed by science would...
  14. BlessedMommy, I think that you have the right approach to it. If you feel better gluten-free that should be enough reason to do it. In a way, I think it is a psychological issue that somehow I would feel more reassured with the positive result of the test, even though I would probably end up eating the same food as now... It is the strange feeling of knowing...
  15. Hi all Thanks a lot to everybody for your great and warm replies. Much appreciated! I think that you are right. If I am going to go through the challenge of reintroducing gluten, why not doing the standard celiac tests done. It makes sense Reintroducing wheat is a nightmare though... I have to admit i am very confused about Cyrex Labs Tests....
  16. Hi all, I am new to this forum and i am very happy to have found it... I am pretty sure I have Gluten Sensitivity. (probably non-celiac). I started to get quite brain fog after lunch, and I started to suspect that the lack of focus and mood changes had to do something with food consumption So, I did an elimination diet, and I concluded that...
