  1. Well, I still have 5 days until I see the gastro and get the results of the blood work I had on Monday. My nightmare is that something comes back positive and I have to have an endoscopy, but that it will won't be able to be scheduled for another month or longer... I feel bloated and I've probably gained ten pounds over the course of this 3 month gluten...
  2. Yeah, I am really anxious to go back on my gluten-lite diet (or gluten-free if the results are positive) but I will continue with the challenge until I see the gastro next week in the event he needs to do an endoscopy. Thanks for the reminder kareng!
  3. Well, after a nearly 14 week gluten challenge, I am finally going in to have my blood testing done today. Full Celiac Plus panel which tests every antibody plus the genetic testing... I wonder if I should eat a big ole bagel before I go in?? lol I know at this point it probably won't change things, yet for some reason I have the desire to gluten load...
  4. I will check out that thread, thanks jbeilfuss! I (think) I have decided to do 8 weeks of gluten challenge before getting my blood draw. 12 weeks just seems like an eternity, and I was not completely gluten free before so I'm thinking 8 weeks of daily consumption may be enough? I am just wanting to move the process along but I also don't want to have any...
  5. Thank you! Now that I got the full panel ordered, I am obsessing about how long to continue my gluten challenge before getting tested... lol I was not on a gluten-free diet before, but it was somewhat gluten-lite. I am so anxious to get the results, but I want to make sure they are accurate so I think I will aim for 6-8 weeks of this gluten challenge...
  6. Well, I just got back from the gastroenterologist and it went really well... He ordered a Celiac Plus panel from Prometheus Labs that tests for all the antibodies (it lists: tTG IgA recombinant antigen, EMA IgA, total serum IgA, DGP IgA, DGP IgG) and also includes genetic testing (HLA DQ2/DQ8) so I'm pretty happy! I think that's pretty much all you can test...
  7. Thank you very much; I plan to request the full blood screen... Fortunately, this doctor is listed on the Celiac Disease Foundation website so I am *hoping* he knows what to do and what the proper protocol is for testing & diagnosis I will keep you posted!
  8. Thanks, that's what I thought... I actually just got an appointment to see a gastroenterologist TODAY, so I am brining a copy of my results and I'm going to request a FULL blood screen. Any other questions I should ask or things I should know before I go??
  9. I got the results back from my celiac blood screen... Immunoglobulin A: 226 Tissue Transglutaminase Antibody IgA: <1 <4 No antibody detected > or = 4 Antibody Detected So my doctor said it came back "completely negative" but as far as I can see they performed ONE antibody test? So frustrating, as I would like to have a complete blood...
  10. Well, I go for my initial blood tests tomorrow morning... Should I eat a bagel right before the blood draw?? JK Once I take the blood test tomorrow I am going to cool it with this high-gluten diet, because I feel so bloated, tired, and "puffy" But I am going to continue consuming one slice of bread a day in the event I need more thorough blood testing...
  11. Thanks Laura... I had been on a pretty low gluten diet previously which is why I did a pretty gluten-heavy challenge. But perhaps I can just drop down to the UC's recommendations now, especially since this may continue for a bit longer!
  12. Thanks cyclinglady... How much gluten do I need to be consuming roughly? Right now I'm eating the equivalent of 4+ slices of bread a day, and I'm miserable. All I want to do is go back to my low gluten diet the minute I have this blood draw. But then if I need additional tests I'll be back to square one... It's really just so frustrating as I'm sure many...
  13. Well, my doctor got back to me regarding the specific blood tests I wanted to have run... she said she ran a celiac panel, which includes all the major ones and it's pretty thorough. If it were to come back negative and we still have a very high suspicion for it she said she will send me to a gastroenterologist for further evaluation. So to me it sounds like...
  14. Thanks jbeilfuss, I appreciate the encouragement... I've decided to just continue with this challenge until my blood test and then maybe take a break. I read that you only need to be consuming gluten for 2 weeks before an endoscopy, so depending on whether that's necessary or how long it will take to get one, at least I will have a little reprieve... I feel...
  15. Thank you very much for the testing info cyclinglady! I sent a message to my doctor requesting all of those specific tests you listed, so we will see what she comes back with... I really don't want to drag this testing process out any further than I need to, so I'm really hoping she orders them all on the first go. I am still a little worried about my previous...
  16. Hello, I finally decided to get screened for celiac disease after many years of suspecting I have a gluten intolerance or sensitivity. Over the last year I have become much more intuitive in my eating, and have scaled way back on gluten because of how I felt after eating it. Still, I did not strictly avoid it or completely eliminate it -- I simply didn...
