  1. At the store recently I found a bag of chips that had the "certified gluten free" stamp on the front. I didn't even look at the back of the bag because of that stamp. A few days later I go to open the bag of chips and notice on the back that there's a disclaimer about the chips being produced in a facility that processes wheat. WHAT? Is this a thing...
  2. Hi all, reviving a very old thread here! Just wondering if there are any updates on gluten free backpacking meals that any of you have had good experiences with. I have several long backpacking trips coming up and want to make sure I can eat safely the whole trip. Dealing with getting glutened out in the backcountry is something I REALLY want to avoid...
  3. Wow, so interesting to read your responses! I'm a little relieved it's not just me. Celiac is one strange disease!
  4. Just wondering if anyone else's eyes feel really weird when they get glutened, as though it's really hard to look at stuff. My vision itself is fine, but it's almost unbearable to look at things, like that weird feeling when you try on glasses with a prescription that is too strong. Needless to say, it makes driving and getting through a day of working...
  5. Some things that may help improve your sleep... - No coffee or caffeine after 10am. - Magnesium oil applied to your skin before bed really helps relax your muscles! I use it religiously. - Epsom salt baths before bed - Drinking a cup or two Chamomile/bedtime tea - Rubbing coconut oil with a few drops of lavendar essential oil on...
  6. If you can, try to stick to easily digestible whole foods that are naturally gluten-free instead of processed gluten-free foods. The less energy your body has to spend on hard-to-digest items, the more it can spend on healing your body and brain. Examples... plain rice, steamed veggies, bananas, sauerkraut, avocadoes, fruit and veggie smoothies, revital...
  7. Gluten and anxiety seem to go hand in hand for me. I was recently diagnosed with Celiac and my anxiety was absolutely OUT OF CONTROL right before I went off gluten... I literally could not relax my body or mind. Now that I am off gluten though, the physical anxiety has almost completely gone, but the anxious habits I developed still linger. I did go through...
  8. Well, got my scope results today and they were positive for Celiac. Not too surprised and actually relieved to have an explanation for all my symptoms. I've been gluten free since the day of my scope and already can feel a difference. Every time I google a question I have about a food or a symptom, a celiac.com forum board seems to come up... feeling really...
  9. Hi friends, a follow-up question! My endoscopy is scheduled in 1.5 weeks, and I'm wondering if I need to eat gluten up until the day before the scope or perhaps I can stop eating it a few days before? The reason I ask is that I am MISERABLE right now, I have been eating more gluten than usual in an effort to make sure I have some every day before the...
  10. Interesting. Thanks all for your input!! Will update after GI appt!
  11. In an effort to figure out my worsening digestive issues, recently had some food allergy testing done. The celiac panel came back with positive results, according to my primary care doc. However, he really couldn't tell me much, other than to go see a GI. After doing some research online about tTG, IgA, DGP and so forth... I am pretty confused about my results...
