Thanks for all of the replies. I've just found out I'm not getting to see a dietician because of not having a definite diagnosis which is another blow. I've had loads of bloods done but they just say they're all normal. I did have low vitamin D and high parathyroid but it's sorted itself out after a course of high dose vitamin D and they're not checking it...

So after a 6 month wait (on the NHS) I finally saw a gastroenterologist today and surprise surprise it was a complete and utter waste of time. Or rather it wasn't as the whole appointment took less than 5 mins. They've basically said they'll do an endoscopy, but not a biopsy as I won't do a gluten challenge (I cannot risk being too sick to work again). So...

I've been gluten free since March after I had 2 blood tests come back positive for celiac. I'm still waiting to see gastro, a dietician and an endocrinologist, as I've got some other weird symptoms too (I know you have to be eating gluten for a biopsy/ diagnosis - I'm not doing it as the waiting times are ridiculous and I can't be that ill again). Anyways...

Thank you! Am starting to think it's not celiac at all. Have felt horrendous today - pretty much as bad as I was before going gluten free and it's following the same pattern... I feel fine for a few months then I feel awful for a few months and then it passes again. Maybe it's Addisons (the docs are meant to be checking!) or maybe I'm still getting gluten...

Thanks very much for the replies. I've posted about this before but I'm not doing the endoscopy/ biopsy. I was horrified when I thought it was an 18 week wait never mind 8-10 months. I was advised to go gluten free by my doc because of the wait and because I was so ill. They said I could do a 6 week gluten challenge after the first gastro appointment but...

Sorry this is really moany! I posted last weekend about having symptoms and not being sure what was causing them. I'm still feeling rough and just really down about things. My symptoms from before I went gluten free are pretty much all back (although admittedly at the moment they're not as severe as they were). I'm struggling with the diet - not with...

ARCHIVED First glutening or something else?
kam00096 replied to kam00096's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thanks for all of the replies. Still not sure if it was the quinoa or not but I think I probably need to strip my diet right back to basics again and cut out the extras. Thought I'd get away with gluten-free products and alternatives but am going to take the advice I've seen on here and go back to just whole foods. I also reckon dairy is probably an issue... -
ARCHIVED First glutening or something else?
kam00096 replied to kam00096's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thanks for the reply. It was a homemade bake I made with plain quinoa. And I did wash it thoroughly before using it. The only other thing I had today that was different was proper filter coffee but I checked it too. I have work tomorrow and it's gone 1am but I feeling too ill to sleep. Going to be a long day! -
Hi guys just looking for some advice (and to have a bit of a rant!). I'm feeling horrible tonight. It's just like before I went gluten free and it's really scaring me. I've been gluten-free for two months and although I've not felt perfect (still have nausea at least once a day and still feel like I never go to the bathroom properly) a lot of my neuro...

I'm back and I'm panicking again. I've had two blood tests come back positive for celiac and am being treated for a severe vitamin D deficiency. Still waiting for a gastroenterology consultant, as there's an 18 week waiting list on the nhs, and not sure I'm going to go ahead with an endoscopy as I've gone gluten free and am finally starting to feel a bit...

ARCHIVED Staying at someone else's house?
kam00096 replied to kam00096's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thank you for replying so quickly. I'm going to do exactly this. I'll clean surfaces again in the morning and grab some cheap bits and pieces I can leave somewhere out of the way! I'm just feeling a bit overwhelmed (and hungry lol) tonight! -
I'm getting myself completely stressed out so thought I'd see what folks thought. I tested positive for celiac about 3 months ago and went gluten-free soon after. I moved house around the same time so am pretty confident my kitchen is completely gluten free (I hadn't even used the new toaster and bought new cooking utensils etc). Trouble is I'm house...

ARCHIVED How do you know what's causing what?
kam00096 replied to kam00096's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thanks for the replies guys. I'm not having the endoscopy, or at least I'm not doing the gluten challenge. The wait for an initial consultation with gastro on the NHS where I live is 18 weeks and then another wait after that for the scope. I was so ill and had been off sick so often I was at risk of losing my job so decided to go gluten-free and just stick... -
Hey guys just looking for a bit of advice. I got 2 positive blood tests for celiac and found out my vit D was very low and parathyroid was elevated about 2 months ago. Went gluten free soon after and haven't cheated. Around the same time I had unrelated health issues that made me extremely constipated and when I finally got over that I felt much better. ...

Honestly I'm not sure (there's been a lot going on) but the doctor said it was 'in my boots' and low enough to be messing up my parathyroid.

I had 2 positive blood tests for celiac around 2 months ago and after struggling to decide what to do next, due to very long waiting times for endoscopies, I decided just to go gluten-free. I ended up with some other non-related serious health problems so wasn't as strict about it as I would have liked to begin with but for the last 3 weeks or so have been...

ARCHIVED Could celiac really be making me feel this bad?
kam00096 replied to kam00096's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thanks very much for all of the replies. They're really helpful! I am in the uk and unfortunately there's no way to get the scope and biopsy done quicker - I just can't justify taking on the debt to have it done privately, particularly not as my job isn't too secure at the moment because of my attendance (it's a nasty vicious cycle). And my doctor told me... -

Hi. I've posted before about this but I keep getting worse and more stressed. I'm so confused and don't know what to do next. I've had two blood tests come back positive for celiac but will have an 18 week wait for an appointment with a gastroenterologist and another wait after that for an endoscopy. I had decided not to give up gluten until after that because... -
ARCHIVED Positive blood test - very confused!
kam00096 replied to kam00096's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thank you for your reply. I'm still struggling to know what to do. Have been trying to eat 'better' over the last few days, which has basically meant fruit and veg so have been sort of unintentionally gluten free. I really can't afford to go private (my parents talked about helping until they heard about the possibility of a false negative which just isn... -

Hey guys I just joined tonight and am looking for any sort of advice or clarity. Sorry this will probably be really long and not make a lot of sense! After 10 plus years of nasty IBS type symptoms and 3 years of neuro stuff (feeling off balance and boaty/ dizzy, shaking, fatigue, pins and needles, painful muscles and joints etc) my doc finally tested...
