  1. Thanks for your help and comments, Gemini and ironictruth. This whole experience has been very confusing for me, and this forum has provided me with a lot of comfort and answers.
  2. Thanks for your comments, RMJ and Gemini. Very helpful. I've been pretty disappointed since my appointment on Monday because I really wanted a firm diagnosis. I'm okay eating gluten free on my own, but it would be easier to have family and friends (and other social settings) take it seriously if I could say firmly that I had been diagnosed with celiac...
  3. I got my biopsy results back today and would love to hear what y'all think because I'm confused. Just a reminder of where I was at before the biopsy results: I had a positive EMA test, negative ttg test, and positive genetic test for celiac. Today, the doctor told me the biopsy did not show celiac. As a result of the positive genetic test, he said I...
  4. Thanks! You too! I have learned from this experience to take charge of my own health. It's nice at least that we can try the gluten-free treatment without a firm diagnosis or a doctor confirming the disease. I've also felt some of the gluten withdrawal symptoms, and my stomach pain ebbs and flows, but I'm determined to stick with the gluten-free diet to see...
  5. I'm already noticing a difference after five days on the gluten-free diet...acid reflux is gone and stomach pain is getting better. I am glad you're going to try the gluten-free diet, Vanillabean, and get copies of all your results. I hope you find some relief from the pain soon! I'm still waiting for my biopsy results. I did call my doctor's office...
  6. Yes, I will definitely update you and would love to hear what your experience is. I'm glad I found this forum because you're right--it's nice to not feel so alone. I'm also prone to anxiety--so waiting and worrying is not fun! Cyclinglady, thanks for sharing your experience as well. I do plan to maintain a gluten-free diet for a while at least if the...
  7. I can relate. I had a positive EMA test and a negative ttg IGA test (no ttg igg test as far as I know). I had my endoscopy this week, and I also had no chance to ask the doctor questions beforehand (I also wanted to know how many biopsy samples he was going to take). When I woke up, the doctor told me he didn't think it was celiac. He found lots of inflammation...
  8. Thanks for the reply and the links! I'm finding this forum so helpful. I hope my endoscopy will bring back a firm diagnosis. It would be nice to have an answer to years of health issues.
  9. Also, for reference, my tTG test was as follows: t-Transglutaminase: 2 (Negative 0 - 3, Weak Positive 4 - 10) Immunoglobulin A: 106 Negative (normal): 87-352
  10. Hi all: I recently tested positive on the EMA test, but negative on the ttg test. Has this happened for anyone else? I have an endoscopy scheduled soon, but my doctor seems confused by the positive on one blood test and negative on another. He asked me to get the genetic testing done. No one in my family has been diagnosed with celiac disease, but...
