  1. Hey Tiffany! I am a mixture of Scottish, Irish, and English. My oldest sister has Celiac too. Probably from my dad, but he won't get a blood test done. -Ginny
  2. Hi! I'm Ginny and I'm 15 years old. I, too, have both Celiac and Diabetes Type I. I know how you feel - finding diabetes-friendly gluten-free food is very difficult. However, ever since I got my insulin pump a year ago, my diseases have become easier to have together. But, if are unable to get a pump, perhaps changing your diet would be easier. Maybe...
  3. Hey! For all of you out there who get symptoms when you have a gluten accident, I want to hear from you. My main question is how long after you have gotten into gluten do your symptoms show up? One hour? 24 hours? Sometimes my symptoms will show up, yet I don't know what meal the contamination was present. ...
  4. It's Easter and I'm eating Pop Rocks. Then, I notice on the ingredients ISOMALT. I know malt is definitely glutenous but what about isomalt? On this website it's not under the safe or forbidden list. Anyone know?
  5. Hey! I'm 15 and gluten-free for a year. I really want to study abroad or, even better, be a foreign exchange student. Of course these organizations most likely can't find celiac oriented families, so being in a new glutenous household would be quite the horrid experience. It would be perfect to find an organization with celiac families involved Does anyone...

  7. The term "turkey cutlet" sounds suspicious. Are you very sure bread is not added? In my experience, anything that is called a cutlet (turkey, veal, etc.) uses bread as a filler or coating. Good luck, we share your frustration.
  8. Hey! Ever since my diagnosis, I have grown to LOVE fruit. They're wonderful - inexpensive (fairly), simple, and they're not "specialty" food. I don't feel different when hanging with my friends and eating fruit because fruit is universal. Anyways, I had always heard most stickers (envelope glue) etc. was non gluten-free. What about the stickers on apples...
  9. Hey! I had heard that licking envelopes was forbiden on the gluten-free diet, so I had been sealing them with a damp paper towel. This was OK, but kind of strange. When I went to my grocery store, I saw envelopes made by Top Flight called Strip & Seal. You just peel off the plastic strip and seal the envelope. They're great, I don't feel as different...
  10. Hey! I recently went to Baskin Robbins hoping someone there could tell me if there was an ice cream with no gluten. Surprisingly, I never even had to ask someone. On every ice cream label at the very bottom it states if that ice cream contains certain allergenic ingredients including wheat! It was quick and easy to order. I was also surprised by the wide...
  11. Hey! I live in Greenville, SC with celiac disease. I also wish there was a support group. Though I am only 14 years old, my mom knows as much about celiac as I do if you would rather communicate w/ her. So, if you have any questions or suggestions having to do with local restaurants, foods, etc. I may know the answer or I can help you. And vice versa....
  12. Hey! My name is Ginny and I live in Greenville, SC. I'm 14. I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes about 4 months ago and diagnosed with Celiac about one month ago. And I thought Diabets was hard! Oh my gosh! Celiac is so much harder. Anyways, I'd really like to know if anyone else out there is both Diabetic and a Celiac. I also just happen to be vegetarian...
