  1. Happy birthday and may God bless you today!

  2. We're not sure if our son, 3y, has celiac or not. We've been living in Japan for the last 6 months and it's extremely difficult to keep gluten free over here. He can only eat so much rice. He used to be allergic to egg whts and yolks and wheat and he's still allergic to dairy and nuts so he's learned how to be a very picky eater. Anyway, my question...
  3. We have been doing gluten-free diet for about 4 wks now with 3 y/o. Have seen some improvement in stool which is ecouraging but still a little frustrated. We're living in Japan and are VERY limited with foods he ca eat. My mil just sent a HUGE box of gluten-free food so we're set for about a month or so. Ane we're going home in about 6 wks so he'll be...
  4. My son is turning one and I am making a choc cake from Bob's Red Mill flour and I need a frosting recipe. Anyone have a good one? Thanks.
  5. I thought I posted this already but I can't find it so I'm sorry if some of you are reading this for the second time. I was wondering if MSG has gluten in it. It is monosaturated glutamate. Is the GLUT in glutamate gluten? Also, the ingredients on the package (Johnsonville brats) doesnt' really raise any red flags for me, does anyone know if these are...
  6. I have some Johnsonville brats in the fridge and was looking at the ingredients and the only thing I see that would have gluten is the msg (monosodium glutamate). Is this gluten? Also, are the brats gluten-free? I'm still very new at this so I'm sure I miss ingredients that are gluten that don't send up and red flags for me. Thakns in advance
  7. Brief history, ds has never had solid bm. Dairy and nut allergies. Another parent told me about celiac and he fits the profile to a "t". Bloodwork came back negative and doc wants to do a couple more test before he scopes. Well, we've been gluten-free for almost a week now. Have seen some improvement in his bm. A little more solid and no brown water...
  8. We just went gluten-free with 3 y/o ds. This could just be a coincidence but a day or two after we started he had a fever for a couple days and selpt A LOT. It's happend in the past where he'll get a fever, no other symptoms and then after a few days he'll be back to normal. His eczema had a big flair but dh and I thought it might be due to the sudden...
  9. I'm not sure how many or if any of you have heard of this website but it is SUPER cute. They have t-shirts that say "gluten free", "peanut free" and a bunch of other sayings. Plus there are stickers you can buy that have the same sayings. Plus there's super cute artwork for your home. My son has the peanut free tee in bright orange. And let me tell...
  10. Ds is a little over 3y, some food allergies (dairy, casein, mult. nuts), has never had solid bm and has blood dripping from anus while pooping. He had an ultrasound and CT scan a couple days ago and I got the results today. His liver is on the big side (doc doesn't know why) but his colon is very big. Very open. Everything just goes right through it....
  11. I should also mention he has dairy, casein, and multiple nut allergies. So I have a hard time giving him fat. And he just recently tested neg to egg allergy so we hard boiled some eggs and he LOVES the whites. We are also checking out pancreatic insufficiency. His levels were at 28 and "normal" is 60-150. Am taking stool sample in for more tests on...
  12. We got results back of blood test and they were negative. Doc said there is 15% chance of false neg. So he's doing another test he had to get a special kit for that is more specific for celiac and said that there is <5% chance of false neg with this one. If it comes back neg is it safe to assume that he's NOT celiac and that something else is going...
  13. We are Americans living in Japan right now, and let me tell you, it is sooooooooooooo frustrating trying to go gluten-free in a foreign country. That said, I've read many many times that even one tiny crumb can ruin a gluten-free day, week, etc. But isn't going gluten-free as possible better than have a gluten-heavy diet? My MIL has shipped us some gluten...
  14. We are still waiting for some test results so not sure if he (3 y/o son) is positive for celiac but I'm having trouble explaining what celiac is to other people. I know that it's NOT an allergy to wheat but to get people to understand that's the only way I can expalin it. Plus, my FIL keeps saying that if we just "power through" his body will learn to deal...
  15. At 9 mos our son tested positive to wheat (prick test). After about a year we tried again and no hives so we thought he was okay. We just had him re-tested (blood test) (he is now 3 yrs) and it came back negative. We are still waiting for some other test results but could he test neg to wheat and still have celiac disease? In my mind that's kind of what...
