  1. If I feel that my intestines have been irritated, I usually take a coupe of pepperment oil pills. They sooth the stomach and reduce inflammation.
  2. Flochick Yes, welcome to the site. It's only my second day on here as well. Armetta made some excellent points about watching for even minute amounts of gluten. Another thing you should be careful of on your gluten-free diet is FRIED RICE. The SoySauce has gluten in it. I thought I was going gluten free all the while eating Chinese...
  3. Ursula Yes, that's what threw me off. I'm Black and overweight...plus my symptoms were constipation and not diarreah so I thought to myself I couldn't possible have Celiacs. I didn't fit the profile. But whether I actually have it or not, avoiding all gluten seems to get rid of the symptoms so it must atleast have something to do with the...
  4. Damn, I was wondering what happened to this thread! I started another one in it's place thinking I may have deleted this one by accident, and THAT ONE seemed to have disappeared also. Lisa Thank you for the warm welcome. Right now my suspicion of being gluten intolerant isn't so much scary as it's just frustrating trying to figure out where...

But what about other foods that cause irritation like garlic or spicy hot foods. I mean...... If I eat food too hot and it irritates my intestines, will it also destroy the already weakened villi? Will it slow the healing...

Well, just like I haven't been diagnosed for gluten intolerance but I seem to show most of the symptoms--- I haven't been diagnosed with Asperger syndrome either, but I show most of the symptoms. Infact...
  7. Does all irritation and inflammation of the small intestines destroy the villi for celiacs, or is it only gluten. I mean.... Say I eat some spicey foods that disagree with my small intestines and irritate it.....will more villi be destroyed? Will it lessen the healing time from the damage gluten has already done? It seems that I've become...
  8. Thank you all for your responses. I found them all the be suprisingly helpful! Especially the part about a stressful event triggering this disease. My symptoms started appearing a few months after my mother died. Then I was hospitalized with an "intussusception" of the small intestine that they wanted to operate on but I refuse to let them and it...
  9. Greetings to you all! Perhaps these questions have been asked and answered many times before, but since I'm new to this board I'd like to ask them. 1) Has anyone ever heard of going a lifetime of eating wheat products like pizza, pasta, and sandwiches and then all of a sudden having a major intestinal problem and getting Celiac Disease at the age of...
