  1. I need help! I have Celiac and I strongly suspect that my two year old is coming down with it. Persistent, mucousy D two weeks long now. I had her tested last December and she was negative, but she really didn't have any symptoms, we just tested to be sure. I took her in yesterday and he suggested some changes from the BRAT diet. Nothing has helped. She's...

  3. I was diagnosed with celiac disease after my firstborn, now 3 and a half, was born. I kept her gluten free until she was two and periodically try gluten with her. We're in an experimental stage now where I'm offering it to her and she's been nauseated and even has vomitted twice in the last two weeks. PLUS she's been hit by a fever like every other day. It...
  4. I was just curious about if anyone had an easier pregnancy and delivery (i.e. dilated much earlier, etc.) once they were diagnosed. I know that typically 2nd labors are easier than the first, but does anyone out there suspect a marked improvement due to eating gluten-free?
  5. I'm 19 weeks pregnant and have tried to be vigilant about what I've eaten, but several times recently we've been out to dinner at places that were LESS than accomodating... (in other words, I was served soy sauce on some veggies, etc.) I feel almost certain that I'd have had some sort of classic GI reaction to eating out like I normally would, but I haven...
  6. So interesting! My water broke, too! It's all such a mystery, but the thought occured to me only recently connecting celiac disease to the c-section. It probably was a time issue, I agree, but it's interesting to hear your comments.
  7. After my first child I was diagnosed with celiac disease. Toward the end of my pregnancy I had TERRIBLE symptoms, so I know my celiac started beforehand. I was induced on her due date and I did not progress at all-- not even 1 cm after the whole day of pitocin and the like. At the end of the day, my doctor performed a c-section because of failure to progress...
  8. I am trying to conceive and am SURE (Are we ever really sure, though!?) that I didn't have any gluten in my diet. All of a sudden, this weekend terrible diarrhea hit me like when I realized I had celiac. Perhaps this means I'm pregnant? Or else, perhaps something slipped into my diet? I'm panicking a little, because I of course want to stay healthy, yet...
  9. It sounds like you're on the right track. I'm very sorry that this has surfaced, but you are so blessed to be aware of celiac as you're parenting. Good luck and let us know what happens.
  10. Thanks for your comments. How do you go about the DNA test? Do I contact Prometheus myself or do it through her pediatrician?
  11. I was diagnosed with celiac disease two months after my first child was born. Since then I have been totally gluten-free and so has she. Now that she is a year old, I feel that I should test her, but of course without her having consumed gluten, a bloodtest won't be get me very far! My question is, what is the wisest step to take? I consider my options to...
