  1. Here's a really good link. At one point references relationship b/w celiac and hormones....also brain. If I am not allowed to post links, pls let me know. ty Open Original Shared Link
  2. My previous doctor had diagnosed me with PCOS, but my current doctor told me that was bogus. I was averaging one period per year my entire life (I"m 30 now), so my doc said that I had PCOS (a moniker often attached to unexplained amennorhea). I went gluten-free in Nov and have had about 6 periods since then. My doc could not give me a good explanation...
  3. Ok...so I know you may be tired of hearing this, but are you 100% gluten-free? You should also look into possible secondary allergies, such as dairy products, eggs, nightshades, other grains etc. I had to respond to your post b/c prior to going gluten-free and DF, I had NO desire for sex. Zero...zip.....nada. Sex drive came back with a vengeance after...
  4. Don't know the answer to your q'n, but I guess you're in Canada if you're a Kalan fan. LOL.
  5. oh...and btw...a funny thing happened recently when I got back together with the 3 year relationship guy. When I started to set boundaries (i.e. asking to do things that I wanted to do) he decided that he wanted to marry me and have 12 babies! We're not together anymore, btw.
  6. I agree with this notion of unhealthy relationship patterns and I think it has to do with fear and dependency. I've stayed in many bad relationships because I was afraid of one thing or another. For instance, I stayed in a relationship for 3 years with someone who had no intention of ever being married or ever having kids, even though I want these things...
  7. I too have been struggling with relationship issues. Trying to entangle learned behaviours from the physical effect that gluten has on the body, and how each affects my ability to relate to others is something I have thought about as the brain fog disappears. I don' t think there's an easy answer. As the cloud lifts I pay more attention, think more, try...
  8. Oh....also want to add that somewhere along the line I gave up on myself and my dreams. Very little self investment=very little happiness.
  9. I can relate to alot of what was said here. I ended my relationship with my b/f of 4 years yesterday. It was very hard to do, but I realize that I was using my b/f to fill my own unfulfilled needs/wants (a fool's game b/c this is impossible...ie...won't help to eat a steak when what u really want is a glass of water). I was always able to spot blatant...
  10. Yes....gluten can lead to those symptoms. You should not go off gluten if you are undergoing tests b/c it will affect the results.
  11. Do eggs have casein? I seem to feel sick when eating the whites.
  12. Yup. I'm confused too about what is optimal. Tis part of the reason why I started this thread, but I think I'm just more confused. LOL.
  13. Since reading "Dangerous Grains" I have felt guilty about the amount of grains that I eat. I know that I would eat alot more veggies if I gave up some of the grains and would lose that last 15 lbs to boot! Bully, do you find that you feel much better when you limit grain consumption? And....how do you prevent hunger on such a diet? If you tell me that...
  14. Hello, I'm also interested in this casein question. I am completely gluten-free, but I admit am only "low" on dairy/casein. For instance, although I don't eat eggs, cheese, yoghurt or icecream, I DO have milk in my coffee and don't look for dairy/casein as ingredients to avoid in packaged food. I also add margarine to my rice. My question is how...
  15. Wow. Sounds like a nice array of vegetables. You could try adding Kale or Collards...either one are great in soup. I add chicken, lots of spice, onions, garlic, carrots and zucchini, along with the Kale OR Collards and tis fantastic.
