  1. Yep, abdominal MRI with and without contrast
  2. Symptoms...Well, it seems they were similar to celiac's disease in some ways. I'm not quite sure much about how common this problem is. Just from browing the web, it seems like a high percentage of people may have some blockage, but for there to be problems from it, it is more rare. I'm going this week for an MR angiogram that will give more information...
  3. Thanks for your support! I'll let you know how it goes- and, even though I'm not well enough to tell how exactly being gluten free affects me, I'm interested to know how it would. I do think I feel more alert. ...And, spreading the word IS important- I agree. People have never heard of gluten-sensitivity, but once they do, I think most want to know more...
  4. For once in my life, this business of western medicine seems to be helping me. I guess I was convinced I had to have some sort of food intolerance-gluten, lactose, soy. Maybe I even hoped I did. My blood tests and biopsy came back negative for celiac's disease, but we know that's not evidence enough to rule out a food sensitivity. I recently went...
  5. Okay, I totally feel all of you. People say the stupidest things. I hope you don't mind if I let out MY frustration. I haven't been conclusively diagnosed with celiac, but since I've been improving with gluten-free for 3 weeks or so, my doctor thinks it's good to stick with it, even though I'm still having bad days. So this type of thing has been...
  6. Hey guys, I thought this would be fun and interesting. Just fill in the blanks... I'm (insert gluten-free, soy-free, meat-free, etc here), but I'm so glad I don't have to give up (your answer here-food or not). I'll start with an easy one. "I'm gluten-free, but I'm so glad I don't have to give up CHOCOLATE!! (gluten-free) " and, don't...
  7. Thanks guys. I also have empire blue cross blue shield HMO. They basically told me enterolab is out of network, but that they would pay for any lab tests done at quest diagnostics. from what i can tell quest does the gene test, but i don't really understand how that is different from enterolabs...
  8. Just wanted to know of those who got the enterolab tests done - who was able to get their insurance to reimburse the tests...? Does anyone know how I can get my insurance to cover it?
  9. Hi Lilla, I would also suggest getting the biopsy done. I just got back negative blood results. My doctor ordered the anti-endomysial and the tissue transglutaminase. I went for the biopsy last week and I'm still waiting on the pathology. The biopsy wasn't really so bad - I didn't even have to be put out. My doctor put me on a gluten-free diet in...
  10. Hey bklynceliac, Seems like we're in similar places. I'm in my early 20s living in Brooklyn as well - even though my ID is NYC... Anyway, I went off gluten with improvement, but now that I'm going back on for the tests, I have some good days and some bad - as opposed to all bad days. Maybe you started to repair after going off gluten and your sensitivity...
  11. Hello, I'm new to the board and was hoping someone could answer my question. I've been experiencing stomach discomfort for some time as well as malabsorption. I experimented with gluten-free for 3 weeks with some improvement. My GI doctor says to return to eating gluten and then go for several test (blood work, biopsy, etc.) I was just wondering if...
