Omg...i Might Be On To Something

Recommended Posts

Dear Carla,

Going to Naples sounds nice! :) I would not mind going there for a bit! I have cousins in Largo, near Clearwater. Mary is pregnant with her sixth baby! My aunt and uncle were going to move down there after retiring, but changed their mind. Apparently, Florida is an expensive state to live in!

Maybe your laser will arrive soon. Credit cards can fowl things up. I wish I could get one of those things! They balance your system, right? Originally, I thought they were for detox, but they are for balancing out your system. Let us know as soon as your laser gets there!

That new med sounds like it is causing a bad herx! :( Maybe that will be better soon. Babs is the most likely co-infection for me. Ehrlichia and the others are not that common in Indiana. The Bart treatment is no fun, I am sure. At least your GI symptoms are improving for the most part.

Being underweight with your thyroid being slow is not that common. When mine was pokey before, I could gain weight working out and barely eating. An overactive thyroid can make some people overweight, though. Only ten percent of people with it tend to have the trouble, but for a while, I was in that ten percent. That was before going gluten-free, though.

I agree that homeschooling is a great thing to do. Due to my poor health, that was a Godsend. I was much more prepared for college than my friends, because I had to do so much myself. I did not want to get a GED, because here, employers looked down upon that. I was angry, too. I had worked too hard not to get a diploma.

Kassandra is like me. She wants more. School systems just do not want to do anything for the students. It is all about money and politics. There may be some great places online that I do not know about for high school. Kaplan is where I got my Associate's degree. It is an excellent college, and the curriculum is advanced.

Dear Rachel,

I love pink sparkely things! Donna is right, it could be catching! It will start with the shirt, then take everything over! Believe it or not, I was sort of a tomboy. I used to play GI Joe with my brother and wrestling, but I also wore make-up and high heels!

My thyroid is currently hyper. I am not thrilled about medication right now. Slowing it down will make me gain weight again. I really do not want to do that, since I am finally losing weight. I am surprised you do not have to worry about your weight. I know I would probably have a hard time losing it if I had nuked my thyroid. I am glad you do not have that issue.

OMG! You really did have a horrific reaction to those snickerdoodles! No wonder you have to be so careful. It is so hard sticking to just safe foods all the time. I made the mistake of eating peanut butter on a rice cake, and am now sick from it. Once again, my stomach is incredibly annoyed by food.

Dear Donna,

My new glasses are terrific! The little cleaner cloth is even Gucci, like the frames! They are silver, and very comfortable. Unlike the last pair of glasses I had, I can see with these! My head is not being squished by them, either! :)

I did not realize how bad my last set was, until I put my new ones on.

Dad is on antibiotics. He needs to call the doctor again this morning to let him know how he is doing. It appears we caught this flesh-eating bacteria before it got so bad this time. The bacteria Streptococcus pyogenes can enter under the skin and begin destroying tissue and poisoning the blood. This condition is known as Necrotizing fasciitis.

Dad is taking a Cechlor antibiotic. He thinks the bacteria might have gotten in when one of his blisters busted on the bottom of his foot from the fungal infection he caught from my grandfather. Grandad had contracted Jungle Rot when he was in the service back in WWII. Mom and I are still worried, though. We are so afraid it will get bad again, where Dad's leg looked like raw meat.

This bacteria is horrifying. It is also strange. According to the research I did on it, you can just get a bump or nudge from someone and contract it. Many people had necrotic tissue to the point surgery was involved to remove dead skin, or to amputate infected limbs. One man I read about had to have eight skin grafts on his leg due to damage to his skin.

Limitations certainly suck. Not being able to go online would drive me crazy. When my connection is down, I am anxious until I can get back on. Vacation would not be so relaxing without a computer for me. Surfing the Web is something I do all the time.

You were definitely missed! We all could not wait until you got back! Every single day you were gone, all of us were like "Boy, things just are not the same without Donna!" Rachelville needs all of its residents. Afterall, we are a small town, and everyone has their special place in society.

I am sure I will enjoy the pics! Did you get to take any beach pictures? I know you did not want to wear a bathing suit, but I was thinking you might have gotten some good scenes from the boat of the sun setting on the beach and the like. Seagulls are kind of fun to watch. You never know what they will do. One might do something silly, and make a good shot!

Dear Andrea,

Mitch might not be able to tolerate the sorghum or yeast. Didn't you say he tested positive for Candida? That would explain a lot. The Enjoy Life Cookies and the bread have some similar ingredients. Sorghum is high in carbohydrate, which people with Candida tend to react to. Bread containing yeast will set symptoms off as well.

Dear Kassandra,

Homeschooling really is something I encourage. I really enjoyed it. I could work as fast as I wanted to. While attending high school, I attended art school. Regular public school held me back in a number of ways. Nothing I learned in public school was even remotely useful in college. Thank goodness I went to The American School for my last year-and-a-half!

I would not want to go to the ER if I could avoid it. They leave people who are very ill sit there for hours. Apparently, many ER physicians have no sense of urgency. That is obvious when they leave someone with appendicitis puking in a bucket for three-and-a-half hours. The thing could bust inside of you! A friend of my best friend's family had this happen to her. WTH?

At least you have to hemotologist ready. That should make things go a bit better. Iron is important for you right now. If you need it, get it. Maybe you could bring something to keep your mind busy while waiting. That helps me when I go to doctor's appointments and stuff so I do not get so nervous.

I am so glad you made it through the blood draw alright! I was hoping you would do okay. Worrying about passing out is something I have dealt with more lately. Taking B12 and keeping my blood sugar and blood pressure up helped. Just a little sea salt does the trick for the blood pressure.

For the time being, Dad is doing a little better. Mom and I are worried about it, though. I have been hearing more and more about these antibiotic resistent superbugs. MRSA has been everywhere lately. Flesh-eating diseases are terrifying!

Dear Kristina,

The barium messed up my system before when I did it. I felt pretty rough after it. Avoiding that test is good when possible. I do not recommend it. Some periodical elements' place is not in your colon! They had to do something like that to our dog the other week to find his obstruction, aka the hairball!

I am sorry to hear corn is a no-no. Many doctors say to not eat corn. Farmers will not even feed it to their pigs. They do not believe it is fit enough for even slop! My brother cannot eat corn, either.

Hopefully the rice will set well. For me, it depends on the day. I seem to do okay sometimes, and other times not. You and Kassandra's systems are like mine. Since we all could have Lyme, it makes sense.

Dear Susie,

I bet your neice is adorable! Babies are so precious! My cousin has another one coming. We also just found out my cousin Chris's wife is expecting their first child! It is very exciting!

I am afraid Dart has been gagging again. Dear Lord, what has he swallowed now? I cannot help but worry. Since he may have a shunt in his liver, that could be what is causing the seizures. I still think trying gluten-free could not hurt. I just found this great article the other week about a vet who is a Celiac, and found taking dogs off of gluten cures 100 percent of them! Here is the link: http://www.dogtorj.net/id32.html .

There was something else I thought of just now when reading about your adrenals. In Women's World some time ago, they had a women who knew these exercises to help your adrenals. It is called TTAP. A woman named Theresa Tapp invented them to stimulate the adrenals. I know you do not need to lose weight, but this is really something worth checking out for your adrenals' sake. I will try to find a Web site on it for you and give you the link.

When my thyroid was slow, I could get fat no matter what. It was frustrating. My thyroid is hyped up now. Heart palpitations can be caused by that. I get them. They are scary. Hypothyroid has been linked to Mitral Valve Prolapse, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, and Fibromyalgia.

I could not believe I had not come across that Celiac site before. I wonder why it just recently popped up? Doing searches does not always yield the exact same results every single time. Go to http://www.e-celiacs.org/2%20Celiac%20Disease_in_Adults.htm to read about the casein and other proteins found in milk. This will take a while, so you may have to read it in sections.

Dear Julie,

There is no telling what in the cookies irritates your system. You just never know! If you are like me, it could just be because you are breathing! That is what I am going with for my body at this time. I have no idea if there are additional intolerances or what. Reactions seem kind of random except for high fat foods.

Yes, mold runs around everywhere! I hate it! That may be why I react so strongly to food. Nothing seems to set well.

I suppose a rotation diet is my best bet right now. Keeping a food journal is something I have not done yet.

Dear Sarah,

I am glad things worked out so well for you! School is important. A better education means a better job. I wish the schools cared more around here. GEDs are what a lot of people have gotten and done very well. People are snobs around here. It has gotten to the point to hang clothes on a rack, you have to have an Associate's degree!

Dear Birdy,

Welcome to the thread! It is nice to meet you! Those food intolerances came about early for you. I had symptoms from birth, but we did not realize until later what was causing all of the misery. Ten foods is a small variety for a two year-old. Did you outgrow any of the allergies?

I have a major overgrowth of Candida, and metals are a possibility with me as well. I had vaccines and numerous other things that exposed me to them. We are happy that you will be seeing an LLMD! Let us know what happens! Everyone will be anxious to hear!

Sincerely,

Jin

Hey everyone-

sorry have not posted in a while. I have not been doing well at all I cut my supplements out for a week and now am going to slowly reintroduce some starting with my probiotic.

I had my 5th DMPS yesturday and did a urine test so i have to wait now to see if anything changed.

Carla-

I feel so happy to know I have an orange jug buddy!!!

Donna-

glad your back!!!!!!!!!!And glad to hear your trip went well!!

Rachel and Julie-

Yes I definitly seem to react more to things that are allergen free, etc. I think mostly because most of them are highly processed. I have never had snickerdoodles - but I don't plan too. I did have lara bar yesturday and paid for it big time.

HI to everyone else I will post more later but I just wanted to check in!!!!

Carla-

Thanks. I think, LOL.

I'll look forward to hearing about your results! I'm really hoping mine show I'm done with chelation ..... but I can't help but have it in the back of my mind that the metals could actually be worse than they were the first time from my body being more willing to part with them ... but I'm hoping they're just gone. :D

I hope you're feeling better soon.

I'm off my supplements yesterday and today for the orange jug ... off meds for tonight, which only means missing one dose this morning ... except for Minocycline, which I'm off all week because of my trip to Florida. :)

My GI left a message saying that my barium swallow showed normal anatomy and physiology.

She said that she "just became aware of genetic testing for celiac disease and is wondering if I am interested."

1. This is stupid to leave on a message without further information

2. She did not mention the additional lab work that allergist ordered and I sent to her that shows an increase in "celiac antibodies"

3. This still does to explain WHY IT HURTS WHEN I EAT

Shortly after I posted yesterday I regurgitated sweet potatoes. They have been on my "doesn't come back up" list for a few weeks. I am frustrated.

I obviously have to try to get a hold of her today. I want to go to her office and punch her in the gut after she eats and see if she thinks perhaps waiting till January for an appointment is appropriate.

grhaosifuoasdghasdifyasduif!

Kassandra - The ER is not fun, but I hope that they can get your iron back where it needs to be so you can start to feel better!

Mia- I am glad you are back, sorry you are not doing better. Hopefully peeing in the jug will shed some light on the situation.

Okay for anyone interested (and with stamina, lol) here is the link to the pictures:

After reading over this forum I found the Lyme thread, and discovered that I had 32 of the symptoms. I have an appointment with an LLMD tomorrow (it was either tomorrow or late January), and am really excited. :D

Hi Birdy, welcome! Yep, this is exactly how most of us came to find out about lyme...this thread has been a blessing in that regard!

Welcome! Birdy, that's GREAT!!! That's exactly why we all continue to talk about this stuff in such a public place, so other people can learn from our journey! Thank you for telling us and for finally joining us. :)

Please keep us posted on how it goes!

Ditto!

So it's the mold running amuck in the Enjoy Life products

...

Welcome to the maladapted milieu bunch :D

Running amuk with maladapted milieu...LOVE this!!!

Ha, see picture link above. I only got one real beach. It's called Lover's Beach in Cabo San Lucas. It's a "hidden" beach between the rocks. One has to take a water taxi to get to it. And, as I've been typing my response to you, my friend just emailed me a few that she took...she got a couple of beach scenes, lol.

glad your back!!!!!!!!!!And glad to hear your trip went well!!

Thanks Mia...gosh I'm so sorry you haven't been well...I just want you to feel great for a change!

Hello everyone,

Well last night was horrible! We ended up sitting in the ER for 6 hours straight!!!!! Then, we got in there and the stupid doctor didn't know anything about hematology! She told me that ferritin doesn't matter and that they won't treat me. I said, "then why would my hematologist give me 5 iron iv treatments in march...if it really didn't matter?!!!!" She looked at me and said, "I have no idea why he would feel compelled to do that!" What a freaking idiot she was!!!!!!!!!!! I am so angry. Then she went over my symptoms (weak, tired...) and said she wanted to run more blood work it was about 1 am at this point. My mom and I talked in the hour they had us wait and then decided this was pointless because she wasn't going to give me any treatment, so we left.

It was the biggest waste of time EVER! I knew they wouldn't do anything. I guess I wasn't an emergency to her. She was SO MEAN!!! UGH!

We got home at 2.30 and needless to say, I was pretty frustrated. Sitting in a hard chair for 6 hours straight did wonders for my back! It was terrible. :(

Kassandra

Kassandra - I am so sorry.

I would highly recommend calling your doctor ASAP and giving him/her the name of this ER doc, date you wen there and exactly what happened. And demand a course of action from him/her.

It is really hard to be your own advocate when you are sick, so if you have someone else to do the yelling for you, it might be time to call in the big guns.

Rachel,

I just found this thread and I'm wondering if you ever found a solution to the thyroid medication issue? Were you able to get it compounded without corn and gluten? I'm in the process of grasping at straws for a solution to my migraines. They seem to be worse since I started taking Synthroid about 2 years ago (it could also be my imagination as I don't remember a time when I didn't have migraines).

Also, just curious, did you eliminate corn and did that help your symptoms?

I didn't read the entire thread so my apologies if this is redundant.

Kassandra, what ever happened to the doctor who said he'd meet you there?

Zook, why didn't you read the whole thread? LOL We've come a long way since then and learned a lot ... we have found such issues as Lyme Disease, heavy metal toxicity, bacterial dysbiosis, etc., but no, eliminating corn didn't do the trick ...

I can't answer your question about the thyroid meds .... but stick around ... you might find some answers to your health issues in the things we've learned over the past year. :)

Apparently because the ER doctor didn't think it was "urgent" they wouldn't call him in. I also guess that because we didn't go during the day, the Hematologist wasn't called since it was "after hours."

On a side note, there was a really young girl (13 or 14) who came in in a wheel chair and she had alcohol poisoning. She was completely out of it. It was really scary...and she came in with her boyfriend and his father. To say the least, the father looked pretty pissed.

Hi Zook!

I had so many migraines for so many yrs I started to think of them as ONE LONG migraine!

Mine finally went away when I found the 'final' food intolerance.

I don't eat at least 90% of what most eat, but I feel better than in decades, easily.

The food I eat is a VERY short list, but I don't miss the other stuff at all. Not when the seconds it spends in my mouth is compared to 18hr days of happiness. :)

I also don't cheat. It's not worth it.

Not sure what u eat, but I'd sure look into a simplified diet and trying to find 'safest' foods if I were you.

Good luck Zook!

Hi EVERYONE!!!

Donna! Great to hear the trip went well. :)

Do I still need to try to guard the cookie aisle?

I'm in SJ for good :) but my moving POD isn't in until Thurs. :(

Yes, I think he has candida, although it's not bad. Dysbiosis also came up on ASYRA but I don't know the extent of that.

Hi Zook! I'm not Rachel but I do know she has her thyroid meds compounded without the corn and gluten. Going corn free didn't help her symptoms. Her food intolerances have been brought on primarily by metals which have compounded with molds/fungal issues.

Hi rinne!!

Welcome Zook. We all, or most all, eliminated corn and corn byproducts and still had issues, moved on to msg and various other things. It's been a long and bumpy ride but we've learned a lot, and continue to find little pieces to the puzzle.

Hey everyone,

You guys crack me up. You are all so chili con corny. Hey I got miraculously HEALED! I guess going to church ALL THE TIME and prayer Helped me to my HEALING. :D haha

just kidding but I know I got your attention.

Huh snickerdoodles. I haven't had those since I made them as a kid. Still have the cook book so when we are all better I will make them for us one day.

Jin sorry about your dad. Necrotizing facilitis. eeekkk. My friends dad died from that. It seems gross and I believe it's contagious?

I have been bad too people. Lots and lots of ice cream. At least a gallon a day. And only vanilla. It does keep you regular. Hey rachel if you are going to cheat with sweets why don't you try ice cream again?

I feel like death.

So I got down to 85 pounds right then I discovered ice cream and I know that I know that I know I need to stop. I know it's bad. I know that I am more sensitive because of It. I know it's not organic and it probably has rbht. I will stop I will.

I weigh now 110 pounds.

Ok got to go see you later.

Oh p.s. When I hold the ice cream container in my hand the ice cream gets real cold and turns icy AALLLL the time. IT gets so hard I have to cut it with a knife. CRazy huh??

Carla,

Thanks! :D

Andrea,

I thought he was going to do a full work up, but he kind of surprised me. I think I'm quite happy with the direction we're going.

I was definitely a "difficult" child, from may perspectives. You're littlest one has it rough, though.

Julie,

Thanks! I've been meaning to look up maladapted milieu for a while, I guess I have no choice now!

Enjoy Life doesn't agree with me either, for some reason. My Mom bought the granola for me without looking at the label, it tastes like dirt and I couldn't understand why I kept having a reaction to it. Finally I looked at the label, and it has coconut in it, one of my main allergens.

Jin,

I hope you find the underlying cause of your thyroid issues. That's, switching back and forth like that. Wow, that's so frightening, what's happening with your Dad. I'm so glad they caught the infection in time!

Some times it seemed like I grew out of them. We (my sister and I, she has similar problems) would go on a very strict diet, get better, then start introducing foods again without any immediate problems, but we'd become sick again (chronic ear infections, etc.) and stop growing. BioSet and NAET helped us eliminate nearly all of our allergies, so we can eat like nearly normal people (well, nearly normal allergic people ).

Kristina,

I'm so sorry you're barium swallow didn't reveal anything. Mine came back "fine" but when I had an endoscope it showed multiple strictures up and down my esophagus. <_<

I know this sounds crazy, but maybe you're allergic to something you're cooking your food with? Maybe the metal/teflon of the pan or the plastic in the spoon?

Donna,

Thanks!

Kassandra,

How awful! What makes a doctor think they can treat a patient that way?

Ok, so, for my appointment.

We got the office, and the first thing I notice was it smelled moldy, and if not moldy, then definitely musty. The receptionist gave me a bunch of paperwork to fill out, and then the nurse took my Mom and I back into the room. We went over my history with her (turns out she was the first adult lyme patient in PA, and her daughter the 2nd lyme child) and she explained the blood tests they want to run on me. She said that since the blood tests are hit-and-miss they do them to see if they can get a positive on them, but a negative means nothing. She also said I should have some general baseline test done (liver enzyme, ANA, and some others) as well.

She brought the doctor in who examined me and discovered that I have, 1)problems balancing when my eyes are closed (my sinuses are swollen slightly, and that cuts off the airway to my inner ear, apparently), 2)a slightly enlarged thyroid (running a TSH, T3, T4 test), 3)gastritis, most likely caused by h-pylori (put me on a probiotic for that), 4)some problems with my ribs that usually only happens in lyme patients... (I forget the name, though), 5)an inflamed colon and liver, 6)baker cysts, and 7)apparently my brain doesn't know where my nose is to touch it when my eyes are closed .

In the end I'm getting these tests done through Labcorp (one of the two labs covered by our crummy insurance  ):

CBC/Diff

Comp Chem Panel

Liver Panel

Sed Rate

RA

ANA

Iron Saturation %

TSH

H. pylori Abs (IgA, IgM, IgG)

Rocky Mr Spotted Fever Abs

Bartonella Abs

Legionella Abs

Ehrlichia Anaplasma (HGA)

Ehrlichia Chaffeensis (HME)

Babesiosis Abs

CRP

Elisa for lyme disease (IgM, IgG) (not expecting to be positive if I do have it, but it would be nice it if were)

Western Blots lyme (IgG, IgM) (same as above)

Through Fry labs he's ordering a blood smear, which will show if I have any of the coinfections, which they consider a definite positive for lyme.

And he's ordering a SpectraCell intercellular nutrients test to be done in two months.

At this point I have an appointment in three months (he has so many patients he only sees them every three months) we're going to be doing the tests, I'm going to get some other parasites I have problems with address by my naturopath after I have the blooddraws, I'll take the probiotic, and then we'll go from there.

At this point I'm very happy with everything, except for the long wait, of course. I want to get better, and get better now! :P

(PS: I'm not sure if I'm posting too much info about my treatment or not.... )

Wow! That's quite a work up they are planning. It's too bad you can't use Igenex as they have more positives, but at least your doctor know that many tests are negative.

As far as posting too much. It was fine. Generally we don't post everything that is taken for the treatment process, just a few of them. Most of us send out more detailed pm's or emails with the full info. So when you start with treatment don't list everything you're taking.

Does this mean you have to wait 3 months before you get to find out your results :o or will she call with the info, or have her nurse call?

ShadowSwallow,

Sounds like you have a good plan to follow and you have knowledgeable Dr.s. Fry's lab is good and should be accurate in any possible co-infections.

As I have been reading this thread on and off for the past year the simularities in symptoms are very much the same for all of us.

I'm anticipating the call from my Dr. on my IgeneX test any day now, and praying it's accurate so I can deal with it or move on.

I have severe concentration, memory problems and it also affects how I speak, write, and hear. This is why I can't read more than a couple short posts at a time and would never be able to respond to people as some people do here. Some day I hope my mind will be able to retain information and multi-task again.

I do hope you continue on your healing path to wellness!

TS
