Susie!! Robert Duvall? Ewwwwwwwwww! Anybody else react to him that way, or am I alone in my he's-a-great-actor-but-NO-panting-going-on reaction? Tell you what, you can sit beside Mr. Duvall. I think I'd even rather sit beside the Dalai, m'self...

While I would not say Ewwwwwwwww! I concur with the NO-panting. I would use Ewwwwwww! on MJ and DH.

Hear! Hear! They are, after all, almost extinct!

Yeti can bring a date, anyone got any suggestions as of who we can fix him up with?

Open Original Shared Link is who the Yeti has selected for his date - for obvious reasons.

LET THE YETI BREED!!!! ;)

Excellent, Tom!!

We are just talking about a DATE for our yeti, but who knows how fast a mover he is, patricularly at a wedding? So I say he can dance the first dance with Amanda and she'll let him Lead, he can drive our limo and we'll let him Speed, he'll be first at the buffet and we'll Let him Feed, and if an angry Chuck Norris shows up, we'll be Lettin' him Bleed... :o:lol:

You do NOT want to see Chuck in a jealous rage!

Good point - I suppose the nearly extinct aspect doesn't exactly make one think "Playah!".

Then again, perhaps in desperation to carry on the species, he's been boning up, so to speak.

OH!!! My contacts in Homeland Security have just told me his recent Library checkouts DO include "How to Make Her Yours in 5 Easy Steps".

OMG  way to run w/ it Emily!!

<ya we all neeeeeeed, someone . .we can buh-leeed on> (Stones "Let It Bleed" - WHAT an album!!!!)

I am NOT riding with Michael Jackson. Amanda, maybe you just need two limos. ;)

Now now, Sarah, you are neither a male, nor under 10, so what have you got to fear?

Once again . . . Sarah shows up after Susie's cute guy list.:lol: That's just freaky how that works!

OMG yes she does

I was ONLY going to allow single gals to ride on my CB float - but I'll make an exception for Sarah. ;)

OMG - WHAT???? :o Well, maybe it IS just me? I have a huge crush on him. I mean, there ARE guys that could make me pant harder.....but he's just the solid, masculine, swaggering guy I want for the long haul. (okay well maybe the Duvall of years past....)

Britney

Yes, Janet - that IS the yeti's date!!!! Perfect.

Fabulous cookies! reminds me of the ones I used to do....I was rather famous for them also. :( Christmas and easter, hand-painted, works of art.

uh-oh, thunderstorm warning (YAY!!!!!!!!!), I must get the dingos out for a slow and tentative walk (despite veterinarian's orders to wait 10 days - Annie is driving me mad w/ her begging adn imploring - don't worry - no off-leash stuff, folks)

AMANDA!!! Yes, Hummers w/ hot tubs for us. :D Hell, get 6 or 7 of them!!!!!!!!!!!!

and WHERE is RICHARD! Did he fall off a ladder and bonk his noggin???????????

So where are all our Sillies today? I feel lonely....do I smell or something? I took a shower today you know :)

Oh darn- I neglected my courtly duties. I'm sorry- bad day. My hips hurt so bad you would have thought I spent the last 24 hours hula-hooping :( That's the weird thing about Lyme- everything moves around. UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I see that SusieQ had the same day....my hubby Kurt's got it too. What the heck?

Amanda- 6 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WAHOO! You're gonna love it.....your own wedding is fun. I danced my butt off!

Can we have a bachelorette party in your stretch Navigator????????? Bet there's a hot tub in THAT! We have to leave the yeti home for the bachelorette party though cause you KNOW they'll charge us extra for cleaning, and with a few exceptions- like the good looking guys- Bachelorette parties are for girls!. But I think Benicio and Ray Fiennes will make a perfectly cozy place for me to lay across so I don't take up too much room. Benicio can rub my feet and Ray can rub my temples and feed me grapes. :D

Tom- Nice pod ;)

Janet- Don't you know the SECRET CODE? You may NOT post in any other threads....this is a cult :P

Bev, it's funny you mention this. I was just thinking yesterday (y'know, deep birthday thoughts, where's-the-time-going, guilt, regrets, all those horrid yearly pinings as the hourglass slowly runs in the background), that I have been SO lax in my responibilities of helping the newbies who get on here, depressed and frightened. Our Cult of Madness makes it very tough to visit anywhere else, particularly with a straight face. I find myself about to post the funniest responses to very serious questions. "Help! My stomach just stays SO bloated!" or "What can I tell my mother-in-law when she brings over her homemade scones?", or "check these pics of my backside out...is this DH?" These things resonate, now, with an inane hilarity, and before my life in Sillyland I was easily able to empathise and advise. WHAT"S HAPPENING TO US ALL? I just smirk at almost everything now....

...It's fantastic!.... B):lol::lol:

Bev - hula-hooping all day.....ugh. We will send over our team of professional actors - oops I mean, masseurs. ;)

AND OMG - EMILY - -

yes - what HAS happened to us, in our Cult of Madness??? mwooo-hoooo-hoooo-haa-haaa-haaa

So I have the fleet all lined up for us. I would also like if we could bring Bon Jovi with us. I think he is gorgeous and he sings great too.

Okay, I am fulfiling my duties right this minute...I am going to help some sad soul right now. I'm breaking free of the strict Silly environs for some serious discussion with troubled people on another thread...some reaching out. Here I go, now...no flip play on words, clever innuendo, just words of support. And NO LAUGHING....

This may be off topic . . . although I don't think we have a topic. OK, so maybe this is just out of the blue . . . I have heard nothing about the green guy emoticon!! And I also wanted to point out that only subscribers to the silly thread posted. I will admit that it was also a little test to see if we had any other sillies out there that needed to be guided to this most delightful and delusional outlet.

Went fishin' and got nuttin'. <_<

Yes, well, that's what we have been told, probably ever since the different types of cholesterol were identified. It's what most of our primary care providers are still telling us, it's what the commercials tell us. But researchers (up until now at any rate) have been learning a great deal about HDL. Nevertheless, the universe of what we still don't know about HDL is vast. And since I can sustain only a 35% level of understanding when I hear lectures on HDL, I will have to nutshell my layperson's understanding, which is that at this time, it's possible or likely that HDL-C levels are best understood as U-shaped, that there's a sweet spot right there in the dip of the "U" and anything before or after is not ideal. This is why I said what I did earlier about the "good" and the "bad" being oversimplifications. The research has long since moved on. There's a lot of talk about how the focus should be on functionality, that you want to make sure that all that HDL is performing how it should be. And now, that's it, I've exhausted my ability to explain my understanding of HDL!

Hi, I have a 3 1/2 year old daughter..I would say she has had tantrums since even before she was a year old. Challenging but not extreme. Lately, her behavior had gotten extreme. Just so angry, yelling mean hateful things, completely defiant, was causing a lot of disruption in our house, I felt like I had lost the little girl I knew, we were baffled.   Something just didn’t seem right to me, I have been researching and read about how gluten can sometimes affect kids behavior. I took her off gluten a week ago tomorrow. The next couple days after I took her off gluten the days were much easier. About 4 days in she had one of the worst days I’ve seen her have tho. I kept on with it tho and the past two days she has been angelic. Is this common that if it is gluten that she could still have a bad day like that a few days after taking her off of it? Should I try to reintroduce it at some point to see if it’s really a gluten intolerance? I’m not gonna lie, if she continues with the great behavior she’s had the past couple days I will probably be scared to reintroduce it but don’t want her to have to avoid gluten if it’s not necessary. Anyone have advice?

But HDL is considered to be the "good" cholesterol, right?
    • plumbago
Since some time between 2010 and 2014, my HDL-C has been going up and you might even say elevated. The last time I could find in my records that my HDL was normal was in 2014 when it was 67. Last week, it was 101, and it’s been 88 and above since about 2015. A significant life event happened in 2010 when I was diagnosed with Celiac disease and in May of that year began a gluten free diet. An informal perusal of a previously posted topic on HDL on this forum shows that a lot of members responding had high normal or high levels of HDL, so it doesn’t seem to be that unusual. But because my HDL numbers have been so high for so long, I am now officially concerned enough that I will probably reach out to a cardiologist who specializes in lipids. I would like to know if I should have a genetic test, as a specific genetic mutation can be one reason for high HDL numbers. I will also ask if he/she thinks a cardiac work up including a coronary artery calcium score should be considered. I think by now most of us are done with the ridiculous good and bad cholesterol labels; the amount of what we don’t know about HDL is quite large. For me my questions include is it a matter of production or an inability to clear HDL, and are the high levels having an effect on my vasculature (or a result of a less than optimal vasculature)? My last TSH level was normal, so it's likely not a thyroid issue. I also take B12 regularly. I’ve read that niacin can cause HDL levels to go up, but B12 is not niacin, and I could find no definitive link between robust B12 supplementation and abnormally high HDL levels. Any input is appreciated! Plumbago

@Mynx, how long have you been gluten-free? I ask because many newly diagnosed celiacs react to many things, and often think their reactions are caused by gluten, when in fact, they are really caused by a combination of a sensitive gut due to damage, as well as additional food intolerance/leaky gut issues to other foods which may be temporary until their villi heal.
