  1. Hello, I haven't posted here in at least a year, but am now because I have a big question and concern. I have been following a faithful gluten-free diet now for at least two years after beginning to eat gluten-free and feeling so healthy. Because my saliva celiac test came back borderline, I guess I thought that at some point it might be okay to try gluten...
  2. Thanks, Carla. Exactly what I thought. They were tricky with their gluten statement. argggh. Nancy
  3. Hi everyone, A friend sent me this link: Open Original Shared Link She had just noticed the bread at Costco and emailed me about it. My first reaction was to say that if it's wheat, whether it is sprouted or not, it is off limits. I still feel that way... but can't get past the paragraph on that page that talks about gluten. They are not actually saying...
  4. Thanks so much! I wonder if that's the same group Sam wrote about... I'll email Eve now. Nancy
  5. Karen, it sounds like you had a fabulous time, and you got more acquainted with gluten-free recpies. What fun! I wish I could have gone. I'm sure it would have been quite a drive for me though. Ok, stopped and did a mapquest and it says 165 miles, and about 3 hours (that would be without traffic.) I'd have to consider staying the night nearby, I think, since...
  6. Ursula, I noticed that you have asthma listed in your signature. Have you found some relief from it on the gluten-free diet? I'm curious because of the improivement my son sees. That site is one I found last night when searching about sources of Vitamin E. I wonder if companies will be helpful and tell me what their source of vitamin E is.... seems...
  7. What can you wonderful people tell me about vitamin E? It appears that it is in so many things and I think I'm getting glutened from it. I had a totally gluten-free food day yesterday and then went to bed and itched and itched. I woke up with an "Aha!" this morning and pulled out the sun block and the Purell hand sanitizer - both contain vitamin E, and I...
  8. Thank you so much for this recipe. I'd love to make my own. Has anyone made this in a Vitamix? Nancy
  9. I've been using Bare Escentuals and it's the first make-up I can actually use without problems, especially mascara. Mascara, in the past, has itched, made me feel foggy, given me puffy eyes.... and I can't wait to wash my face and get it all off. I love their mascara. But now I'm confused. What is their regular mascara and what other kind do they have?...
  10. Leah, Your son sounds like all the other Evergreen students. How wonderful that your son has found a niche in photo journalism. Is he still interested in that? My oldest two are teachers and my youngest is working as a child advocate in an agency for abused women and families. Their interests are broad, but they love the outdoors, reading, healing arts...
  11. Hi Jen, I'm sorry you had problems with that bread - that must be so frustrating. I haven't tried it yet, so I don't know how it is going to affect me. When I do, I'll try to come back here and let you know. I had trouble after eating toast (different kind of bread) and I wondered if I should have gotten myself a new toaster, free of all the crumbs...
  12. Oh, I'm loving this thread! So many notes posted since I was here yesterday.... how do I catch up?! I'll ramble.... Fairhaven sounds much like Evergreen college. My oldest son (turning 32!) got his Master's in Teaching there a year ago. My younger son and daughter also graduated from Evergreen. Great school - love that they don't do much testing...
  13. Sam! That's fabulous. Thank you so much for letting me know. I may miss the first one (this month) if I'm out of town. Plans to go visit a brother in CA are in the planning stages. But if I'm here, I'll be there. And for sure, I'll be there in Sept. How many usually show up? What do you do at the meetings? What ages? Sign me "excited!" Nancy
  14. Oh Andrea, I'm sorry about the soy and dairy. That must be very difficult. I've browsed here and see that so many people have more foods than gluten to deal with. I hope I won't be the same. What symptoms do you get from soy and from dairy? I eat mostly organic but haven't with the cream in my coffee or the little butter I also eat. My oldest son and I...
  15. Hi Andrea, I'm going with a group of women I get together with for rug hooking (the old fashioned kind) because they want to go to the Pendleton store in Washougal and look at wool. I'm basically tagging along as an invitee since I'm rather new to the group. I mentioned to them that I'd love to zip past the gluten-free store in Vancouver and no one has...
  16. Hi everyone! What a friendly group - thank you! I feel so at home here already and I can see that I'll be learning quite a bit. Andrea, you must be familiar with Lingonberries Market in Vancouver then? Have you been there? My son drove stopped there on his way home from Portland and picked up some gluten-free things for me last week. I love the products...
  17. Hello, I'm new to this board and so I hope I'm not repeating this information. Lingonberries is a gluten-free store in Vancouver, WA. My son happened to be driving through so he brought back a few things for me, including moisturizer, shampoo and conditioner. I love all three products - am having no problems with them. Now I plan to drive down and browse...
  18. Tiffany, Thank you for the quick welcome! I'm excited to see another Washingtonian. Do you know of any support groups south of Seattle? Being new here, I am going to have to figure out the acronyms. I can see that G.F. is gluten-free, correct? I see C.F. in your signature... what is C.F.? Will I have a "duh" moment? LOL I'll have to create a signature...
  19. Hello! This is my first note on this board. I've read a little bit and am very happy to have found this forum. I have stomach issues and DH. The stomach issues are greatly improved but I continue to wrestle with the rash and itch, especially if I accidently get a little gluten. But overall, I'm in such better shape on the diet that I can't really complain...
