  1. Hello all! I am in Canal Winchester. I drive all the way to Dublin Whole Foods or Upper Arlington Wild oats fairly regularly to get some decent foods. Maybe we could meet there for a gluten-free lunch sometime. Its nice to know I'm not alone here!
  2. Thank you all for the responses. My husband and kids have truly been great about all of this and we are making all of the family meals gluten-free now. Of course they can have the gluten things on their own, and it sounds like a lot of you live this way too. I may eventually find that I need to get my own toaster etc, but for now those are expenses that...
  3. I've been reading a lot on the boards, and I know I could be here for days on end reading, so I though I would just ask a few specifics to get some answers. First... I've noticed that there seem to be several different schools of thought on this board in terms of how to go about adjusting the diet. Some of you seem to think if it doesn't feel bad then...
  4. You're probably right, I bet at that point I thought wheat alergy= gluten alergy and didn't realize what I had read.
  5. Well this is why I am on here to learn from all of you who have been at it longer than I have. No offense taken! I don't remember where I was reading about the spelt, I've been on so many sites over the past few months. It was on the boards here this morning though that I read about people who were totally off gluten longer having harsher reactions, and...
  6. Thank you for the responses. I do really like the Kinnickkinnick brand, they have one of the best tasting so far. I guess I will have to get some recipe books and start trying other things until I find what satisfies my cravings. I knew that spelt had gluten, but I had read so many cases of celiacs tolerating it. I guess its a matter of trial and error...
  7. Greetings! I just received my Enterolab results. I tested positive for Gluten Sensitivity. I've been Gluten free for just over 2 months now, well about 98% gluten-free. I've made a concerted effort to cut out all glutens including spelt. What I am wondering is whether or not to try introducing spelt since I have read that some Celiacs tolerate it well...
  8. I am a good weight. I don't want to either gain or lose. I teach dance for a living, so I get more than my share of exercise which could also contribute to the hungry factor. I eat a LOT of meat! Especially since cutting out the gluten. I'm also eatting more fish now too. I just don't know how I am going to continue to afford this diet!! LOL Gluten free foods...
  9. Hello! OK I've been Gluten free for about 3 weeks now. I have noticed that the D has calmed down quite a bit and I am MUCH less bloated and crampy. But the one thing that I now have is a constant aching hunger! I eat and eat and yet it seems like my stomach is constantly growling from hunger. I have really focused on eatting a lot more potato and corn...
  10. Thank you Carla! I am going to do my best to save up the money for the Enterolab test. I am amazed as I read all these posts at how many other things could be going on, so many alergies. I wonder how half of the people on here eat at all!
  11. Its great that you had doctors that would diagnose you. I was diagnosed many years ago with IBS and have never had a doctor take my complaints seriously enough to order any tests. I have begged for help and received none. I was never sent to a GI even when I asked to go. Then after a few years of illness I was left without medical insurance. I have had no...
  12. Hello all. I guess I need to clarify something. I haven't had a job in many years because of all of my health problems. I have my own business that I started last year after my surgery, but I don't have to work any more than I set for myself. I was referring to a more permanent disability... but I see now that celiac disease does not require that. ...
  13. Thank you all! Yes, I am a person who needs answers just because of my past medical history. So many misdiagnosed problems and so many lost years of living! I did start eatting gluten free and felt amazing for about 6 days, except for the constant hunger (is that normal?), but then on days 7&8 back to the same old sickness routine. I feel like I am...
  14. Greetings! I have started eatting gluten free (one week now) after a member of my other support group suggested it. I have a long story, so I'll try to make it short. 1994 had saline breast implants put in, 1995 became severely ill with all kinds of unexplainable stuff, 1996 diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, .... many years, illnesses, and nearly complete...
