The reality of it is different for each person. I was not very good about sticking to the diet after a few months. I would eat something sweet and follow it with a probiotic pill to try to help battle the yeast as I ate something with sugar. To be honest, that doesn't work!! I have been fighting my candida for well over a year and I have not completely won...

Yes it pretty much sucks, but the rewards are worth it! Cut out your juice and stick to just plain old water. Get a refridgerated acidophilus and take it 3 times a day. This won't help your C so you will want to beef up on leafy green veggies as much as possible. They are much better for you than the potatos and it should help to keep you moving. Load up...

Lister, the medical community is not nearly as well educated as we like to think. The average MD would not think to look for yeast because they are never taught the damaging effects of yeast overgrowth. In fact most doctors will tell you that it is all a myth and that yeast cannot cause such symptoms. The doctors never found it in me while I complained for...

What you are describing all points to a massive yeast overgrowth. The overgrowth will get worse with any introduction of prescribed medication, unless it is an antifungal. Ask your doctor to put you on Diflucan or another antifungal as soon as possible. If he wont, then start eating raw garlic!!! You need to kill the yeast and flush your system as you do...

Raisin Rack RAWKS!!! I just drove all the way up there to check it out and found their customer service superb, but the best part was selection! They way out-do the chain stores. You weren't kidding! I was in heaven picking out breads that aren't frozen and BEER I actually picked up a couple bottles of gluten-free beer! I hope I like it. I'm going to wait... -

Front St is in the Brewery district, lots of bars. German Village is an interesting place, near the hospital. It has million dollar renovated mansions along with really trashy places that haven't been renovated yet. Overall it is a really neat place that is currently a hot spot as it gets cleaned up. I would reccomend that you look a little further north... -
The probiotics can also help with the C. Its not just the D. If you read some of his work, you can even Google him, you'll see that he has helped many people with chronic C through the use of his Primal Defense. It works for both. I'm happy to hear you are starting to feel better!

Hello Lister. I think I may be able to help a little bit. I have had all of what you are experiencing minus some of the weight loss. I think you have a yeast overgrowth that is causing the brain-fog etc. If you can get to the libray check out the books by Jordan Rubin, Patient Heal Thyself and also The Makers Diet. Jordan Rubin was dying of Chrons disease...

Hello! I live in Columbus and would also really love to hear about the local eateries! Been here 4 years and my biggest complaint is that there is very little in the way of good food! I've heard of the Raisin Rack but never been. Is their gluten-free section any better than Wild oats or Whole Foods? I'm going to do the best I can to save up money... -
ARCHIVED For Those Who Give Themselves B12 Injections
KrisT replied to TERESE's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I'm sorry your having to go through this. I don't have to give myself injections, but for many years I suffered from panic/anxiety disorder which causes the panic attacks like you are experiencing. Before you get ready to give yourselfan injection try doing a little bit of self hypnosis. Close your eyes and think of sitting in the most relaxing place... -

I want to use the recipe for the Ranch dressing that was posted. My husband just bought a new bottle of lawrys Garlic Salt and I read the label and wasn't sure if it was ok or not. I also could not find anything on the "safe" lists about Lawrys. Does anyone know??

ARCHIVED Long Term Neg Affects Of Limiting Gluten
KrisT replied to lancpa's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
The healthiest humans on earth are the hunter-gatherers and all they eat are meat, fruits, and vegetables. They have virtually no grains in their diet. Although there aren't very many hunter-gatherer tribes left, and that's why us humans are so unhealthy! Go figure... we did this to ourselves by evolving into a more intelligent species. Your diet is much... -

Y'all are killin me here!!! I'm just learning how to eat and now you have to remind of wonderful fabulous things like cheese fies!!! <sigh> <dreaming of chili cheese fries at Johnny Rockets> -
Columbus has a Wild Oats and now a Whole Foods in the suburbs. The Whole Fodds is on the north side in Dublin, which would be closer to you. Its an amazing place with quite a gluten-free selection to choose from. They have a nice gluten-free freezer in the bakery area that has things like muffins and pizza crusts. I just found out about this on another...

ARCHIVED Need Pre-school Snack Ideas!
KrisT replied to e&j0304's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I once made this healthy snack for my sons baseball team and they loved it! Get some skewers (you can cut off the pointy end) and make fruit and marshmallow kabobs. I only put one or two small marshmallows on each kabob and they thought it was the best. I used things like apple chunks, grapes, and mandarin oranges. It didn't take very long to make and it... -

A big congrats to that! Its always wonderful to get a teacher who really "gets" your kid! BTW Have you looked into his activity possibly being a result of preservatives and food dyes? I was a Special Ed teacher for a short time and found out that many of the problems these kids were having came from the food additives. I think its the Feingold diet... -
ARCHIVED Feeling Bummed About My Ever-narrowing Diet.
KrisT replied to frenchiemama's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I'm feeling very frustrated too, and I'm just beginning. I have been complaining about all the money I'm spending to stick to this diet, but someone on this post pointed out that we are saving money from eatting out... so true! What a good way to think of it! Although one thing I know I can eat out is fresh Mexican food and I do love that, so if I am truly... -
ARCHIVED Confused About "flavoring"
KrisT posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I read on the safe list that Yoplait yogurts list all of their ingredients including those that might contain gluten, even "flavorings". I am so totally confused about "flavorings"!! What is OK to eat and what isn't?? I bought some Yoplait for the kids and was thinking about eatting one until I read the label. Now I don't know if I can because all it says... -
Thanks for all the info! Good to know!! I printed off and read the "safe" foods list and found out that I have been ingesting more gluten than I realized. Silly things like certain BBQ chips. Luckily I do not (can not) eat junk food very much since I have to stick to mostly organic foods.

Thank you! Though nothing that I take is a prescription. I have MCS and can't take most prescriptions. I live on OTC stuff like Zantac and Immodium. (not the liquid which I know has gluten) But I'd rather not have to take anything at all. I am free-er now than I used to be, but before I couldn't even leave my house without loading up on stomach aids first...
-
WOW! OK that explains it then. I had to take 2 Pascalite and 2 Zantac just to feel like I could make it through tonight. I'm better now, ut I hate having to take pills to counteract my reactions. I've been living on pills for so long and now that I am gluten-free I haven't needed them nearly as much. I'd like to be totally free from them! Wishful thinking...
-
PS: Not to make you feel worse, I have tried to be gluten free for over a year now. I am alot smarter now, but the big G can still find me.

I read the label and thought it was safe. I used a powdered Ranch Dressing to season the meat I cooked for dinner and almost immediately after dinner felt like I am having a reaction. I'm having horrible stomach acid, heartburn like, flare-up. What I am missing in the labeling? Other than that my meal was completely gluten free, just organic meat, gluten...
