  1. There were no gluten free desserts on RC. However, they always have fresh fruit. If you eat in the dining room they will try their best to accomodate you with something. If they can't, they always offer sherbert or sorbet. I did get the key lime cheesecake and ate the cheesecake part with no ill effects. I took along some packaged gluten-free goodies...
  2. Just got back from a 7 day western carribbean cruise on Royal Carribbean. The entire experience was wonderful! About 6 weeks before you sail, all you have to do is email them re your gluten issues. They don't have a gluten free menu per se, but I have never seen such an abundance of gluten free food all in one place! Fresh fruits, veges lean meats, cheeses...
  3. I was in Starbucks today getting my weekly coffee frappucino. The barista and I were just talking and gluten free came up in our conversation. I told her the reason I get the plain coffee frappucino was because of the gluten in mocha. She then reached down into the fridge and brought out a carton of the plain coffee frappucino mix and handed it to me....

    ARCHIVED Nausea

I think dairy may be part of the problem. Since I went gluten-free I have drastically reduced my dairy consuption but still occassionaly have milk. Cheese doesn't seem to bother me tho. I had a latte this morning and promptly got nauseated. It lasted about 5 hours. UGH I love lattes, but not that much. I am still not sure, but will dedicate several...
  5. I am new to gluten free cooking also. I have used regular yeast when a recipe calls for fast rising yeast. Bette Hagman has several recipes that state the only difference is the rise time
  6. Look at Italian Flatbread post today. Actually it is called focaccia. It makes a wonderful pizza crust, or Bette Hagmans pizza crust made with her featherlight mix is really good.
  7. I just made Bette Hagmans Italian Flat Bread It is wonderful! After it baked, I spread basil pesto on it, put thin sliced tomatoes and mozzerella cheese on it and put in toaster oven long enough to melt cheese. Here is the recipe: 2 tsp sugar 1 cup lukewarm water (105 degrees or so) 1 packet yeast 1 cup rice flour 1/2 cup tapioca flour 1 1/2 tsp...

    ARCHIVED Nausea

Thanks for all of your posts. Ya'll make me feel like I am not alone. I tried some Prilosec OTC yesterday and it seems to have helped. I have tested negative to the bug that causes stomach ulcers but I guess it could be another symptom of wheat intolerance. I hate the thought of having to take medicine the rest of my life. I would rather find some alternative...

I have been sooo careful (but maybe not careful enough!) - Had a few days of no nausea, then whammo Can you still have nausea while you are healing?

    ARCHIVED Nausea

Does anyone get nauseated when inadvertently ingesting gluten? I have nausea that comes and goes, yet at the same time I can easily eat. Weird
  12. You are welcome. I am new to this posting stuff. I have a Mac G4 computer and it is not letting me post any user profiles. I am from Texas. I am just now discovering that I can not eat wheat. I have not had any testing done yet (no insurance) but can probably get the initial test done soon. I got Betty Hagmans books at library and have tried the recipes...
  13. I have a good way to make sweetened breakfast cereal. Line a baking sheet with foil, pour some organic puffed corn on it, then lightly drizzle with steens 100% pure cane syrup. Roll the puffed corn around until all of them are lightly coated with the steens. Don't use too much or the excess will burn. Bake in oven at 350, stirring around every few minutes...
