jerseygrl posted a topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Yup. She wants one. I contacted the manufacturer about gluten free products in their oven, and got this from them today-- _______________________________ From Hasbro: Thank you for waiting for my response. You can use store mixes as well as gluten free mixes. You cannot use a mix that needs eggs or oil because the Easy Bake Oven will not cook... -

jerseygrl posted a topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Hi everyone, I stumbled upon this the other day, and thought it might be fun to substitute Pamela's Quick Mix in this recipe for the Bisquick. Haven't tried it yet, but it looks promising. jerseygrl replied to jerseygrl's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Laura, what's a Coug doing in NJ, you ask? Well, I spend 1/2 my life in WA (it will always be home) 1/2 in Southern Cal (surrounded by thee o so humble Trojans, ugh!) and now Jersey. Hubs got an offer here he couldn't refuse, heh heh. Actually I love it here. We live in northern NJ. There is a road near our house that always reminds me of Okanogan... -
ARCHIVED Woohoo -- Look What My Alma Mater Is Doing !
jerseygrl replied to jerseygrl's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
GO COUGS, indeed! You know, if this research pans out, I can see a new Coug commercial before the games where someone inquires about a great gluten free grain that has been developed -- someone then mentions that is was developed at Washington State University..... then the inquirer says, Ah, GO COUGS!" (I apologize, those of you who aren't... -

ARCHIVED Oprah And Oatmeal
jerseygrl posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
On Oprah this week, there was an vegan/author (promoting book, of course) on the show that was hyping a 21 day cleanse. One of the things to eliminate in the cleanse is gluten. My ears perked of course. It was implied that oatmeal was gluten-free. Now I always thought that oatmeal was an "on the fence" type of gluten-free food. Some experts say that it is... -

ARCHIVED Pamela's Baking Mix For Cookies
jerseygrl replied to celiac-mommy's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Just a quick note -- Pamela's makes separate Choc Cookie Mix in case you want to try that. The cookies are VERY tasty. Also, I learned this tip in making Choc Chip cookies "from scratch" and it works beautifully every time -- Use the recipe on the back of a Nestle choc chip bag, but substitute Garbanzo Bean flour (without Fava) instead of wheat... -

jerseygrl replied to DebNC84's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I don't really have an answer for you, except to follow your "gut" instincts, heh heh. Getting the heck out during harvest seems like a smart idea. BTW, are you by any chance located in the Palouse of WA state, or in Idaho? I am originally from WA (Go Cougs!), and I know all too well about the rolling wheat fields in that area. -
