  1. Right, you shouldnt get the rash if you are gluten free. I had my surgery three weeks before my diagnosis of celiac's, so thats why I reacted. I was just warning anyone so that if any one is newly diagnosed or doesnt strictly follow the diet, it is something to be aware of. Was just trying to help out. I was SO miserable, and I dont want anyone else to go...
  2. Oh yikes, I wouldnt want blisters down there!
  3. Just wanted to tell you a story that might help you one day. I had some major foot surgery in October. About a week after my surgery, welts and blisters started appearing all over my body. I went back to the surgeon and he cut the cast off. All of my incisions were weeping and blistering, and my whole leg was one giant blistery hive. I was sent to MANY MANY...
  4. Too funny that your responses were about the apple cidar vinegar, which I just bought! I just havent had the nerve to try drinking it yet. As of now, I am on the highest dose of prevacid, and I take mylanta and prilosec. Thank you for your responses though. I feel better knowing Im not alone. Thank you so much!
  5. This is why I am having such a difficult time: I cannot pinpoint ANYTHING that brings any symptoms on. I have the fatigue and acid reflux constantly. There is NEVER a time when I dont. I dried all the elimination food, but couldnt find anything. I NEVER get cramps or D or bloating or any symptoms at all really. If the biopsy hadnt confirmed the Celiac's,...
  6. Yes, I have checked all my cosmetics, even called all the manufactures of my make-up and medication. Bought a new toaster and stuff like butter and peanut butter. There is no gluten containing food in my house, and we dont eat out. Bummer. Would having a lactose intolerance just make me really tired and get acid reflux? I had always thought you had stomach...
  7. Hi all, I was diagnosed in October and have been on the gluten free diet ever since. I am extremely strict, so its pretty near impossible that I am still ingesting gluten. The doctor even re-tested me, and all my levels were back down to normal. All my bloodwork is showing up fine, but yet I still feel bad. I never had even heard of celiac's before. I went...
  8. Wow, everyone likes something different! How will I choose!?! Thank you for your responses! I will have to get that cook book. Stale bread for croutons doesnt seem to hard to make either. Thanks a lot!
  9. I was hoping someone could recommend a few things. I am looking for a good gluten free pancake mix, gluten free croutons, and a good gluten free cream of mushroom soup (that doesn't taste like ONLY garlic ) Thank you! Oh, also, if anyone knows of some good gluten free hot dog buns. Thank you for your time and responses!
  10. Im defenitly going to try them. The whole foods near me has a celiac support group that meets there this Thursday, so I will pick up the pizza crust while Im there!
  11. Im gonna have to try those pizza crusts then! Do you buy them fresh at the bakery, or frozen?
  12. Well here is a strange new turn of events. When I got my diagnosis, I was telling my mother-in-law about it, and she goes "Oh! I had celiac's when I was little, but I outgrew it. You will be fine in a few months." Now if you knew my mother in law, you would certanly NOT think she was fine. She is at a doc appt four days a week for one of her many ailments...
  13. That makes me feel better, thanks!
  14. Thanks guys. I feel better knowing that everyone felt a little overwhelmed at first. Its just so hard! I was diagnosed right before Thanksgiving, and now with all the Christmas parties. Arrggh! But I am thankful that it was caught early. No complaints there. And I am thankful that I live in an area with a lot of gluten free stores. But it still sucks.......
  15. Thanks for the pizza ideas! I will check out the newbie survival kit!
  16. Thanks so much for your responses. I have been on the diet for about five weeks now. I really don't feel any different than I did before. Maybe in time I will notice something.
  17. Thanks so much. I actually have the hidden epidemic book. I finished it last night. Your right, it is very good!
  18. Thanks so much for the info. Its just so hard! I found Amy's rice crust pizza which I thought would be ok, but when the company was called, they dont garuntee that its gluten free due to cross contamination. Argh!
  19. Would the label say if it was manufactered outside the country?
  20. I am newly diagnosed, and there seems to be conflicting information everywhere. I bought several celiac books, and got a book from the dietician and one from my doctor. In every book there seems to be different things listed not to eat. In one is says caramel color is ok. In another it says its not. One says hydrolized vegetable oil is ok, another says no...
  21. Hi, I was just diagnosed with celiac's disease, and Im feeling very overwhelmed. Im having a hard time believing its even true. I had foot surgery, and my post op bloodwork was coming back abnormal, so the doctor ran a big panel of tests and the celiac test came back positive. Then I had a biopsy and the diagnosis was confirmed. I have never had any gastrointestinal...
