  1. Not to mention that your skin is your largest organ. If people can get sick from touching chemicals, I would think you could also absord shampoo. Plus, it would be on your hair, and we always touch our hair and then our food.
  2. Dont forget that your daily intake needs to be higher when you are pregnant. I dont know you personally, but I know that even though I have been gluten free for a year and get well over my daily intake of vitamins, it still doesnt show up in my blood which means Im not absorbing it all. So I need higher doses. The easiest thing to do is see your doc and see...
  3. I would talk to your doctor about it before getting pregnant. Folic acid can take up to three months to build up to a good level for baby in your system. Since the need for folic acid is in the first few weeks of the pregnancy, you would want to make sure your level is high enough when you get pregnant. Top that off with celiac and malabsorbtion problems...
  4. If it doesnt say wheat, then it shouldn't contain wheat, on any food excpet oats. Just make sure that it is grown in a dedicated gluten free field, not just an organic field. Organic oats are not gluten free unless it specifically is listed as "gluten free." Hope that helps.
  5. Funny, I was just going to post the same question. My doc said he wants to repeat the biopsy in a few months before he gives me the final diagnosis. So... if someone could shed some light on this, I would also be most interested!
  6. Here's my two cents.. If you are concerened about getting an accurate test, you need to being eating gluten regularly for the blood test to be accurate. If you are gluten free, you will not have any antibody's in your system. But...the blood test is not always that accurate anyways, and Im not sure you can do a biopsy while pregnant. BUT...since you already...
  7. Too add a little to what people were talking about the differance between an intolerance and celiac disease, its my understanding that while an intolerance can certainly make you very sick and unhealthy, it wont lead to other auto immune disease and cancer as celiac disease will. Also, an intolerance is an allergy, while celiac is a genetic issue. But thats...
  8. I definitly agree that you should call your doctor, but Im also going to share a bit of information I heard from one doctor. Feel free to correct me anyone if I am wrong. If the blood looks like dark coffee grounds, it is older blood which means it is coming from higher in your digestional tract and essentially means internal bleeding. That type of bleeding...
  9. It depends. If I havent eaten, its just probably a mouthful maybe a little more but not much, and its like pure stomach acid. Looks like water and spit. But I usually have 3-4 dry heaves after that. My body really wants to make sure its out. But...sometimes if I feel the stomach acid building up, I will try to eat something to absorb it. If that doesnt...
  10. No, I dont drink coffee. I cant taste the acid either. It doesnt even come up if I burp. It started when I was in highschool. I must have a really tight, um..., whatever that muscle is in your throat that keeps your food down. Lol, cuz it never comes up until I throw up.
  11. I currently have BCBS a private policy, not through an employer. I called BCBS to see if I could add maternity, to the policy I already HAD. They said "YES". I got pregnant, and they revoked ONLY my maternity. Even though I DID disclose the Celiac, and it was the policy I ALREADY had, they would NOT let me keep the maternity. They said that adding maternity...
  12. Im not sure if I could call it reflux, bc it doesnt come up my throat. I dont get reflux symtoms such as heartburn. It stays in my stomach feeling as if I have swallowed matches, like a scalding burning feeling, then I start to get nausea, then that leads to vomiting what feels like bleach. It just burns and scalds my throat and mouth. Its definitly stomach...
  13. Just be aware that they are franchised and so far this is the only location I have found that offers gluten free. The owner is awsome. He told me he can not believe how many people order the gluten free pizza's he is almost overwhelmed by the demand. He orders the dough from a company, and then adds everything else on and bakes it there. My husband went in...
  14. Yes I am on prevacid which worked for a while, and now does not work so great anymore. I thought maybe it wasnt working at all, so I stopped taking it and that was a disaster. So I am back on it and while it definitly controls the acid, it doesnt prevent it. I also take a zantac every morning and usually a few doses of mylanta through out the day. The mylanta...
  15. You need to be one hundred percent gluten free for an extended period of time in order for your risk of cancer and other autoimmune diseases to drop back to a more normal level. Getting even the tiniest bit of gluten for any extended period of time will never lower your risks.
  16. The Aurelio's (sp?) on rt 30 in Plainfield Illinois makes gluten free pizza with REAL crust. Not a sausage crust. REAL crust. It is SOOOOO good! And THEY DELIVER!!!!!!!
  17. Good luck to you and your daughter! I as well will pass along anything that I find of interest. I sure wish I knew! Thank you everyone for helping me. I guess I really have always believed the test results, which is why I have strictly followed the diet, Im just frustrated that my ONLY symptom has not resolved. I am thankful that I did not have to suffer...
  18. I really don't think I am getting glutened, but I dont have reactions so I guess its always a possibility. I only buy my food from a health food store, the gluten free products. I dont eat out. I have checked EVERY toiletry from toothpaste, to lipstick, to shampoo, to handsoap. Called all the manufactures of every medication and chapstick company. I got a...
  19. Since celiac disease is an autoimmune disorder and not an allergy, it is very important that you are completely gluten free. I am 12 weeks pregnant and it does get hard bc you are craving things that you simply just can't have. It is the best thing for the baby, that you stay completely gluten free. I may be misunderstanding or misinterpreting what you typed...
  20. Was she tested for the H. Pylori virus? And there is another one...darn I can't think of the name right now. Its a virus or fungus that lives in the stomach and or intestines after another flu virus has left the system. It can stay there for years and all it really causes is severe acid. Hum....can't think of the name.
  21. That was a direct quote from the biopsy results. Several biopsy's were taken the first time. I did have a follow up biopsy, I just can't seem to find the report right now. I know the doctor said the results were pretty much identical to the first time. He wants to wait six months to a year and then do another endoscopy before he diagnosis me with refractory...
  22. Wow, that was an amazingly quick reply! Thank you so much. When I was first diagnosed, my bloodwork results were as follows: Tissue Transglutaminase Antibody IGA <5 negative >8 positive RESULTS 10 Gliadin Antibody <11 negative >17 posotive RESULTS 28 Endomysial antibody SCR POSITIVE I dont know a lot about...
  23. Hi all! Hope you are all doing well this holiday season. I was hoping someone could shed some light on a situation for me. Last year I was refered to a gastro doctor for severe stomach acid. The gastro doctor ran some blood work which came back posotive for celiac disease. I was then followed up with an endoscopy. The doctor said he didn't see anything...
  24. I found the Perky'os to be somewhat hard and a little bland, but still not overall bad. I sliced some bananna up and added it and thay really did the trick. Gave it a little more flavor and made it not quite so hard.
  25. Yeah, I dont know what it was. I guess its just me then! Oh well, I guess Ill stick to the usual potatoe and a frosty. Thanks!
