  2. Hey Kathleen, I've been gluten free since Feb 2007. I was puzzled for a while that things I expected to feel good after, like pasta with TVP, or tomato sandwiches, or multi-grain crackers, I would actually feel terrible after. Finally I realized that if I had oatmeal in the morning I would be fine, but if I added wheat germ to it I would feel bad and my breakfast wouldn't digest all day. So I went off gluten and since then have gone off corn and yeast. I seem to do well with soy. I was already vegan. The results have been mixed, I definitely haven't solved the whole problem, but I definitely feel better than when I was eating wheat. I've been to Kristina's Natural Ranch Market on First and Barstow and they seem to have a lot of gluten-free products. Kind of expensive though. Where's the cheapest gluten-free foods you've found? -Travis
  3. That's a thought. I've suspected that I have a yeast allergy, maybe that's what I'm really reacting to when I breathe something in. -Trav
  4. Hello all! I self-diagnosed myself here about 5 months back and put myself on a gluten-free diet, and it solved some of my problems, like feeling starving all the time, but it didn't solve all of them, like feeling half-drunk a lot of the time, and poor concentration/memory, etc. It seems like when I eat grapes, figs, or dates I have a wierd non-gluten reaction and can't think clear and also tend to pig out. Same thing if I drink the juice in canned food. I also started taking some B-supplements but had to stop because they seemed to make me get high and not think clear. Has anyone else had any experience with any of these symptoms? Some people are telling me that I might have a yeast overgrowth in my intestine. A book I'm starting to read also talks about being allergic to yeast.   5. Hello all! I've been enjoying other people's posts for a while now and thought I would make my introduction to the forum! I self-diagnosed myself 5 months ago and put myself on the gluten free diet. The problem is I didn't get a diagnosis right away and I refuse to put myself back on gluten, so I don't have a diagnosis, and everyone seems to think my reactions are in my head. Even my parents. Grrrr. Anyways, to the topic. I find that when I walk by the bread section of the grocery store, or go into the pantry at home, or open the freezer where there's a bunch of vege-meats my family eats (loaded with gluten) that I have a low grade, enthusiasm goes dead, reaction. Then about 4.25 hrs later I'm fine. Am I the only one this happens to? Am I just paranoid about reactions and put myself into one? -Trav
  6. Hey, I'm a new, self-diagnosed celiac who's trying to find out what beans work. I'm vegetarian and in addition to being gluten intolerant also highly suspect I'm intolerant to soy, citrus fruits and yeast. I've figured out that rice and beans and potatoes along with non-citrus fruits and veggies and nuts seems to work pretty good as a basic diet for me, but I keep having reactions that I'm not expecting and I'm wondering if it isn't my canned beans. Does anyone know some brands of beans from experience that are gluten-free? I'm especially looking for black beans. If I buy the beans uncooked do I need to worry about cross-contamination or can I buy pretty-much any brand? Thanks in advance! -Travis
