ARCHIVED Behavior Question
mykidsmommy replied to gfgypsyqueen's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
This is not a celiac response but more of a behavioral one - she should not be playing with dog food for reasons far beyond gluten cc. Remember the pet food scare of just a few months ago? Anything that can kill animals has the potential to infest humans. I am a cat person and my cat eats dry only, which means the food and water bowl are out 24/7.... -
ARCHIVED Where Do I Start?
mykidsmommy replied to Jenybeen's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Ridgewalker and others have given me great advice - this forum is AWESOME! I am in the EXACT same situation as you. the 2 1/2 DD will gag and throw a fit if I try to get her to eat anything OTHER than the glutenity dairy foods she "loves" so much (barely eats that stuff too). I agree with Ridge - find the one thing that your child loves and just let... -
ARCHIVED I Got The Gene Test Back For Daughter
mykidsmommy replied to TrillumHunter's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I did Enterolabs for my DD. Your DD has the same exact genetic result as my 2 1/2 DD. Yeah, I'm not thrilled at all about that double whammy; there is history on my side but none that we knew of on my husband's side. He is Hispanic and eats a LOT of corn based whole food meals so I thought we really had nothing to worry about there or we would have heard... -
ARCHIVED Picky Eaters And Celiac/ Gs
mykidsmommy replied to mykidsmommy's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Thanks for teh responses - I don't know whether its the age or the gluten or what. I'm thinking my daughter is going to starve when we start this because she is a pasta and diary junkie - that is all she will even attempt to eat. I have read where its like a drug - they are addicted to the gluten but they obviously shouldn't be eating it, and it's almost... -
ARCHIVED Enterolab Positive - Blood Work Negative!
mykidsmommy replied to mykidsmommy's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Wow, that is scary - i just can't get my mind around how bloodwork could show nothing but i guess that is me just thinking that if blood is drawn, a definitive diagnosis can be made for anything in medicine. I see in your signature your genetics - my DD's are the same, DQ2 and DQ3, as yours with almost the same subtype - she is 2,7. My question is what... -
ARCHIVED Picky Eaters And Celiac/ Gs
mykidsmommy posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I'm wondering if you see a pattern that celiac/ gs individuals seem to be picky eaters. My 2 1/2 year old DD has always been picky. But I have also thought it is just the age as well - 2 year olds seem to eat enough to sustain a bird some days! I'm wondering if there is a connection and why? She never complains of stomach pains or anything like that... -
ARCHIVED About To Introduce Milk To My Almost 1 Year Old. . .
mykidsmommy posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Thanks again in advance for your replies. I've pretty much determined in my mind that after our ped.gastro. visit for my 2 1/2 DD we'll be going Gluten-free Casein-free based on her Enterolab results. My next dilemmia is this - I have an 11 month old that will turn one (ironically, on the day of my appt for my older DD!). She is down to 3 nursings... -
ARCHIVED Soaps, Shampoo And Vitamins/meds For Kids
mykidsmommy posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Thanks in advance for your replies. I've tried using the search engine to find prior posts on these items but I must not be doing it right. Looking for recommendations on soap, shampoo, and vitamins that are gluten and casein free. Also, I seemed to find that the company that makes Advil states that all its products are gluten free, but does anyone... -
ARCHIVED Salt Dough?
mykidsmommy replied to FeedIndy's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I see what you are saying. I guess I am confused as well because my daughter has the gluten and casein sensitivty through enterolabs but no malabsoprtion through the fatty stool test. . .yet. Obviously we want to prevent that which is why we'll do the Gluten-free Casein-free diet. I guess I'm wondering if there is a level where some gluten sentivite... -
ARCHIVED Salt Dough?
mykidsmommy replied to FeedIndy's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I am really new to all of this, just found out DD is gluten and caisen sensitive so bear with me, but I have seen other references to airborne and skin contact with gluten. In this response the mention is airborne flour -- is gluten sensitivity really to the point where you cannot even be in the room with a gluten substance?? Again, excuse my ignorance... -
ARCHIVED Phone/pda Celiac Lists
mykidsmommy posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I'm wondering if anyone is using the palm/pda grocery lists that are featured on this site- I have a Razr, which I hate for various reasons, and I've decided I'll spring for a palm-type phone if its worth it with these grocery/item lists. Any thoughts or suggestions? With 2 kids under 3, I want to try to make the learning curve on the gluten-free/cf... -
ARCHIVED Enterolab Positive - Blood Work Negative!
mykidsmommy replied to mykidsmommy's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Thanks. I already have the book written down to purchase today and everything else seems the smart thing to do. I have an 11 month old as well and I think we'll be going gluten-free for the household - however at the same time, since they are so young right now it would be easy to do but the real world does not function like this and I want them to learn... -
ARCHIVED Enterolab Positive - Blood Work Negative!
mykidsmommy replied to mykidsmommy's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Thanks for the prompt replies - I appreciate it so much. I know in my heart of hearts that most likely she does have celiac, or at the very least the gluten sensitivity, since there is a diagnosed first cousin on my side with celiac and also the results from Enterolab plus her symptoms. We are going to go gluten/caisen (sp?) free but in anticipation... -
ARCHIVED Enterolab Positive - Blood Work Negative!

ARCHIVED Weird Poop Question But Told This Is The Place To Ask It!
mykidsmommy replied to mykidsmommy's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
thanks - i will ask the gastro about the "pepper" - my 2 1/2 year old also will never take her time to actually chew her food so ithink that may be PART of the prob;em when i see food chunks in her stool. one thing is she lopves grapes but the grape sins never seem to be digested. -
ARCHIVED Weird Poop Question But Told This Is The Place To Ask It!
mykidsmommy posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I was told to ask away with the poop questions because this is most likely THE place to get a response. . . my 2 1/2 year old has these mushy poops and occasionally it looks like there is black pepper "sprinkled" all over it! I have done a Google search on this and come up with nothing; I am keeping a food journal on her but can't seem to trace it back... -
ARCHIVED Sacred That They Might Have Celiac - Newbie Here
mykidsmommy replied to mykidsmommy's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
thanks so much for your response. The 11 month old does poop during the night almost every night; I am certain that could be a sign of something but she has not eaten during the night since 5 months old and she still pooped during the night several times a week while she was just on breastmilk. It was always formed so again, i thought it was GREAT compared... -
ARCHIVED Sacred That They Might Have Celiac - Newbie Here
mykidsmommy posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Hi everyone - new to this forum and to this whole situation. I have a 2 1/2 year old daughter and an 11 month old. Long story short, the oldest is about 35 inches tall and 28 pounds. She has always had what I call mushy stools. She was exclusively breast feed and then went to the jarred veggies and fruits that babies eat, and eventually the "real" table...
