  1. Has anyone seen the little foam packing peanuts that are also used for kids' craft projects?? I believe they were developed as a biodegradable alternative to styrofoam packing peanuts -- but now they also sell them as a craft supply. They come in different colors. I think they're corn based, but I'm not sure. I have a bunch of them, but not in the original...
  2. Great! Thanks again for all of the terrific info! Does anyone know a simple way to tell if it is a casein intolerance - or just lactose? I've read to take a Lactaid pill, then drink a glass of milk. If you react, then it's probably an intolerance to the casein. Does that sound right?? I'm wondering if she is too young to take Lactaid pills...
  3. Thanks so much for all of your replies! I've got more homework to do now! I'll see if she likes the almond milk. Anyone have any recommendations as to which rice milks are truly gluten-free and tasty too?? I guess cheese is completely out of the question now? Don't think I've ever heard of almond cheese or rice cheese! As far as anyone else in our...
  4. My three year old little girl was diagnosed with Celiac about 3 months ago and we have pretty much been gluten-free since then. She first had the blood test -- then it was confirmed with a biopsy. We saw a nutritionist about a month ago - she pretty much told us things we'd already learned from books on Celiac Disease and support websites -- like...
  5. Just wondering if anyone has tried this product? Any feedback -- good and/or bad??
  6. Just thought of a couple more questions... I recently heard about gluten-free hot dogs and gluten-free baking powder. I have Clabber Girl baking powder (Cornstarch, Bicarbonate of Soda, Sodium Aluminum Sulfate, Monocalcium Phosphate) - nothing apparent there to me?? And we also buy Oscar Mayer Natural Beef Franks (Beef, Water, Contains less than 2...
  7. Wow again!! Thank you all so much! Can't wait to put my new knowledge to test! I'm happy we don't have to cross Panera off our list completely -- and good to know about Arby's too, bummer though -- my kids love that junk, me too! Thank you, savvyseller for the Austin Grill tip! We love that restaurant! Reminds us so much of our hometown of Austin...
  8. Hi, My daughter was just formally diagnosed with Celiac Disease -- had her biopsy a couple weeks ago. I'm feeling so overwhelmed at all of the information that I need to learn. Been trying lots of gluten-free stuff from Whole Foods, but more than half she doesn't like. Can anyone recommend any good food items that kids like? Also, what about gluten-free...
  9. I just wanted to say CONGRATULATIONS on your pregnancy!!! That is great! Even more reason to not stress about your little man's upcoming endoscopy -- which I know that is completely calling the kettle black since I am still so nervous about my daughter's endoscopy. Which brings me to a question for you -- you have had more experience with anesthesia so...
  10. Hi, I am brand new to this forum, this site, and to Celiac's. I so completely feel for you and your family! Just found out that my 2 1/2 year old daughter may have Celiac. Though she hasn't been through near the problems that your son has, she has had her share and I am completely freaked out about having her sedated with general anethesia. She's been...
