  1. I've never had experiences with bad doctors, or bad diagnosis, or whatever. Including my sons expanding list of dr's, I have trusted all their opionions. I have been lucky in that my docs work with me to help rule out various issues my ds has had, and they also listen to my thoughts. This is the process that led us to ds's gi doc that suggested an...
  2. our 13 mos old ds has 7 food allergies-dairy, eggs, soy, wheat, tomatos, chicken and peanuts. We are still waiting confirmation on the celiac diagnosis. So far all the allergies have bee pretty easy to deal with. The egg one though i think will make it difficult later on if he does not out grow it. If he comes back positive with the celiac, i'm fine with...
  3. We are just going through the process of diagnosis ourselves for our 13 mos old ds. he had his endoscopy yesterday. Prior to that, he was vomitting multiple times daily, put no weight on for 3 mos and was sick constantly. Two weeks ago his blood work confirmed multiple allergies, including wheat. While I wanted to keep gluten in his diet until the endoscopy...
  4. We just got home from ds's endoscopy. He did great! He charmed the nurses and was in a great mood. Afterwards he unleashed a great wrath of anger. The nurses said that is common due to fog of waking up not knowing where he was, and being STARVED! The dr showed us some pics of his esophegus, stomach and entry way to small intestine. He noted some swelling...
  5. Thanks I will. Lately he has been non-stop hungry and thirsty. Obviously I should not be jumping to conclusions, but I will keep my eye on it. I think I am so used now to something being "wrong" I am starting to become overly.......paranoid if that is the right word.
  6. This is such an odd question, bu it seems like all of a sudden ds's diapers are leaking at night. Nothing in his bedtime routine has changed. He always gets a diaper change, then a bedtime bottle. Last night he peed 3 times while getting his diaper changed, didn't get a bedtime bottle, and his diaper still leaked by 2am! Does anyone know if the amount...
  7. You guys are geniuses! Thanks for all the great ideas. I am actually excited to go grocery shopping to try all this stuff. Reading some of the ideas, it seems so obvious. Apparently I have difficulty thinking outside the "norm"/"box". Its not just the gluten free diet I struggled with, even before ds had allergies diagnosed I racked my brain forever...
  8. Please help! I'm just starting the gluten free diet for my one year old ds. I've gotten some cookbooks that have wonderful dinner recipes, but I need lunch ideas! Preferably easy, non-recipe ideas that my sitter can feed ds. If I don't come up with anything, Im going to have to provide left-overs every day. Either that, or he is going to have to continue...
  9. Not sure if this question quite fall into this board or not, but I was wondering if anyone knew of any suitable milk substitutes beside soy and milk. DS is allergic to both. I currently have him on rice milk but a) I heard that is not the best for celiac there is little to no fat in it. He is only one and he needs the fat, and c) there is little to no...
  10. Thank you guys so much for your insight. I think my hubby and I are going to have to rethink this biopsy thing. I will definately call the dr monday. When the nurse first called on thursday to ask if I wanted the biopsy, I had never heard of the procedure and was only thinking that it was important to know. Now that I have more infomation, I think we...
  11. he has been 20.5 lbs 29.5 inchses for about 2 mos now. He has always been on the low end of the charts. He does have a big belly. In addition to the celiac testing, he also got tested for other food allergies. He has milk, soy, egg white, peanut, wheat, tomato and chicken allergies.
  12. IgG 100.0 IgA 18.2 TTG IgA .5 endomysial IgA negative Total Serum IgA 16 as far as I know celiac does not run in the family. My husband has a "sensative stomach" but has never been diagnosed with anything-even food allergies. I dont think he has even been tested. the dr wanted to the endoscopy to confirm the blood results. I do feed him oatmeal...
  13. hmm. The nurse who called back with the blood work said it was completely up to me. She said that the endiscopy was the only way to be sure, and she didn't want me to go on gluten free diet if it was unnecessary. he' only had gluten products for, 2 mos i think. we were trying to get him to eat more table foods and he would have some mac n cheese, speghetti...
  14. DS's blood test came back with high levels of two anti-gliadin antibodies. he tested negative for Anti-Endomysial. I've read that there is a high false positive rate with the Anti-gliadin's. we do have endoscopy scheduled in two weeks, but I'm curious if anyone knows what the odds are for a positive diagnosis for celiac. DS is 13 mos.
