    I'm the family cook, and both my wife and oldest daughter have problems with wheat and gluten. I'm just looking for better ways to feed my family.

  2. I did some research on McDonald's a while back. To my understanding, the manufacturer of the beef flavoring removes all of the proteins from the wheat, and uses just the starches. However, I can't imagine that this process is completely clean. I have read about people with allergies to corn having problems with Xanthan Gum which uses the same type of process...

    I did a review of Burger King a while back, and it wasn't the best place to stop for a meal. However I was told by their corporation that you could purchase their fries, but not their hash browns. the restaurants maintain a separate fryer just for fries. Unfortunately the hash browns are sent through the same fryer as as the onion rings and breaded chicken...
  4. If you are looking for something like the traditional blue box, I recommend "Annie's Rice Pasta and Cheddar". I have one child that can have wheat, and one that cannot, so I did a taste test with it and the Kraft blue box. The kid that could eat wheat had three bowls of Annie's to the one bowl of Kraft. I also preferred the taste as well.
  5. I can recommend something not to try. Don't use Health Valley Organic Cream or Mushroom. The stuff tastes like a bad combination of vinegar and pepper. It's also to runny to be used in casseroles and such.
