Hi! I am feeling so bad for my teenage daughter! She has been suffering with violent vomiting, abdominal pain and cramping and diarrhea (or urgency) for years. But it is getting worse! She was almost passing out today from the pain. I am wondering if it is related to gluten intolerance. She has a long history of waking up in the middle of the nite, vomiting and horribly nauseated. Also, migraines, fatigue, joint pain and swelling, malar rash. Her ANA is positive with 1:1280 titers. We just keep treating her symptoms, but I feel there must be an underlying problem. I, myself, have "weirdo" symptoms too. I have been gluten free now for 3 weeks and feel worlds better! Has anyone had a teenager with similar symptoms?
Thanks and happy tummy days to all!

Hi! I'm sorry you are so discouraged! I have been there! I am still in the process of figuring everything out -- am happy to say that I finally am feeling better after 7 years of nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, weight loss...on and on... Constitutional symptoms. My previous GI doctor said flat out "you don't have celiac diseae, you don't have diarrhea". End of story. And I loved him as a doctor and a person, just "clicked" with him... Well, he moved to another state and I am seeing someone else. He is nice and now that I've been seeing him awhile, I like him, but not the same as the last guy. But, guess what? After mentioning my lingering thoughts that I have gluten problems... I started a gluten free diet on my own. AND I FEEL BETTER! He even said, "well, that's not how celiac disease usually presents, but whatever works, works!" I am so glad I persisted...I just felt this guy I really liked must know best, but you know, we all know our own bodies!! I would love to have the medical tests to prove that this is really "it", but the bottom line now is that I FEEL BETTER! I am now convinced my inner self knew what was right for me.
Keep yourself strong! YOU know your body best!! I know the disappointment you feel when someone you really liked and trusted doesn't necessarily agree, but in the end IT IS YOUR BODY. If I had had the strength to believe in myself, I may have felt better 7 years ago!
Good luck and my thoughts are with you!

Memory Problems
in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Posted
Hi everyone! I an new here and have been secretly wondering what is happening to my memory? I have always prided myself on being "quick" and remembering everything and LATELY...I am in a FOG! What has happened? I have been struggling for 7 years with multiple symptoms including: nausea, vomiting, bloating, abdominal pain, migraines, Raynauds, constipation...it goes on and on, with no real diagnosis. I have always wondered about celiac or gluten intolerance, but have been told that since I do not have diarrhea, it can't be celiac disease. BUT, I went gluten free about 3 weeks ago and I FEEL BETTER! (Except the memory!). So, I am sticking with this..I mean, what do I have to lose? (already have lost my mind LOL), Just wondering if the memory loss could be part of celiac? Not sure what to think. Any responses would be great!
Have a terrific day (well, nite!)
