    Most Grain alcohol herbal tinctures use Barley in them. Some Rye. I make my own using a grape based alcohol and organic herbs. I have learned the hard way that even some of the Corn based alcohols use Barley for distilling and filtering. hope this helps Lisa

    Thanks for the responses! Are you sure that everyday minerals lip gloss is gluten-free? It says tocopherol and anytime I see that I fear it's Vit E derived from wheat?

    I can't seem to find my list of gluten-free brands and I"m looking for cooking extracts that are gluten-free. I have a brand of peppermint extract that I'm unfamiliar with. Humco. Does anyone know if this is safe or not? What are some safe brands? Has anyone made their own extracts? I would love the directions!

    Thanks for posting that link to the safe alcohols. The only problem I have with that list is that it lists Vodka but the majority of Vodkas are distilled with wheat, barley or rye.     Thanks. I am very allergic to iodine so I try to avoid it as much as possible. I will prob. do a Himalayan sea salt mouth rinse and a bentoninte clay mouth rinse. This is all from cross contamination from a pot luck party (my most unfavorite word to hear!) I was just hoping for some magical way to get rid of these (sigh)

    I can't do any grains at all and am on a quest to find a baking flour mix I can use. It needs to be free of Gluten, rice, soy, buckwheat, amaranth, or any type of grain.     I'm looking for a link between gluten and IQ levels. I know that many non-celiac diets that go gluten-free boast better memory, concentration and focus but does anyone know of any specific studies that have #'s that would back this up? Thanks!

    From what I can tell I THINK my reactions are pretty much within 24hrs but I'm just questioning my latest breakout. While I am more of a flexitarian I eat about 70% raw and eat NO grains at all (except for an occasional cheat of rice).     I too am in the habit of bringing my own food. I agree that you can't expect everyone to stop thier world for your allergies. My food allergy no-no list if very long and I don't expect others to understand it nor do I trust that even when they try it is done correctly. There is just too much hidden gluten out there.     Is there gluten in Benedryl pills? I have a Kroger brand generic one and it says it has starch in it. Does anyone know? What about liquid form? I have eaten something that doesn't seem to like me and am now breaking out with hives and eczema all over my face and eyes. What should I take?

    Barb- It's never too late with oseoporosis. Even if you have it you can turn it around with lots of calcium, Vit D and exercise. Krysten- My 9yro is having the same reabsorption prob and I'm suspecting she's a little too much like me I got my root canals done but now have to get the crowns, cavaties and chipped teeth dealt with. (sigh)

    I agree about the possibility of Celiacs being silent, but still there. I look back at certain times in my life and realize I was really having problems back then. My celiac was supposedly brought on by pregnancy but I really wonder if it has some masked/silent/cycles it goes through. And I Definitely agree that folks should back off the wheat and gluten...

    I do feel better knowing that this seems to be a common theme for Celiacs. My 2 root canals are scheduled for Monday and because my gut is such a mess I am now allergic to all prescription pain killers. So I'm thinking the recovery is going to be just loads of fun with nothing but a bottle of IB profen I swear every time my dentist came near me today...
