  1. Hello - It's been a very long time since I have posted here. I have a 12 year old boy who was diagnosed with celiac when he was 3 1/2 years old. Everything has been going well for him health wise for many years. Only a handful of times has he been sick from being glutened - which we consider a blessing! He is an active kid, plays a sport every afternoon,...
  2. I completely agree, I didn't buy the other brands because they didn't taste good to us or my son at all. We tried the glutino ones recently, and maybe it is because I haven't had a real oreo for a while, but these taste just like the real thing!!!
  3. We live in Maine too and my four year old loves the pizza from Uno's. Finally a place where we can get take out for the family! We've had it several times and he hasn't gotten sick ever from it.
  4. Thanks for all of your responses - I truly appreciate it. My son is very much aware of his food needs, and constantly asks when new people are around. I think I might have made a mistake, though, in telling him that I supply all of his snacks at school, so he can eat freely there. He always asks when other people give him food (grandparents, etc), but...
  5. I was hoping someone could help me out. My son, 4 last July, was diagnosed last Feb with celiac. He has been doing great, has gained almost 10 pounds, has energy and distended belly is gone. We stick to a gluten free diet for the whole family, usually. There have been instances when my son will have bathroom issues where his #2 will be similar to pre...
  6. I know exactly what you are talking about. My son was diagnosed approx. 8 months ago when he was 3 1/2 and now being over age 4, he is very fresh, has major fits, and talks back constantly. He was a very sweet, mild boy in the past. My conclusion is that he was always feeling so sick before, he didn't have the strength to fight, now he is full of energy...
  7. Thanks again for the responses. I totally agree with both of you. On the one hand I feel like my sister should be a bit smarter and just "get it" and try to make an effort. On the other hand, I also know that my son is going to have to get used to it, so we should dig in and get started. I have already started the idea of letting him know that his food...
  8. Thank you thank you thank you Your posts are so helpful, it is so nice to be on a site where everyone knows what you are dealing with. I appreciate the idea of the food journal - I will definitely start one and TRY to keep up with it. I agree too that the poops don't always have to be the same every day. I don't have celiac disease, and mine are not...
  9. Hi there, I am hoping someone can give me some insight on what is going on here. My son was diagnosed 4 months ago with celiac, and he immediately got better. Stomach distention went down, he had tons of energy, his appetite increased, and he gained weight immediately. There have been a few slips, we think he got glutened from an old strainer, I gave him...
  10. I replied to your post on another board, but here is the Whole Foods list : Open Original Shared Link Good luck!
  11. That is so great to know - we live near Portland and am willing to travel to Brunswick for dinner if it means my son can eat pizza!!! Thanks for sharing!
  12. I am from Portland and there is a Whole Foods store with a TON of gluten free stuff. My 3.5 year old loves the Glutino cereal, Envirokids gorilla munch cereal, and especially the Enviorkids Peanut Butter cereal bars. He eats one every day, sometimes two ! We love the Pamela's Wheat free bread mix - he eats that for toast and peanut butter, and the Gluten...
  13. My son was just diagnosed at age 3.5 with Celiac disease. I just had my blood drawn today to see if I too have it, or my husband. I can't imagine my husband has it, but wonder about myself. I reacted badly to lots of food in college, but it seems that I don't have as bad of a reaction now . . .. but from reading here I know that might not mean much. ...
  14. I have suspected for a couple of weeks that my son (3.5 yrs) has celiac disease. We brought him to the ped, and he agrees that something is not right. His stomach is distended, he fluctuates between diarrhea and just large poops - always pale in color, he is lethargic, complains occasionally that his legs hurt, has reduced appetite, and has occasionally...
