Celiac.com - Celiac Disease & Gluten-Free Diet Support Since 1995

  1. Some celiacs can't tolerate corn, and it is considered a separate intolerance. You might want to look into food sensitivity testing, which Alcat (one of our site sponsors), does. Some celiacs, like myself, have temporary intolerances to foods, which go away after 1-2 years on a gluten-free diet. I could not tolerate corn for about two years after going...
  2. In the USA saying that something is made with no gluten ingredients isn't the same as putting "gluten-free" on a label, which has a specific meaning of under 20 ppm detectable gluten, and, except for distilled alcohol, the product can't use wheat, rye or barley as ingredients. This probably varies in different countries.
  3. I don't think that, if you have celiac disease, being gluten-free for only a couple of months is enough time to reverse your symptoms. When you say "like today zero gluten," I get the impression that you may not be strict enough with your diet. If you have celiac disease you need to be 100% gluten-free. Could you still be getting gluten in your diet? These...
  4. The problem with trying to figure this out is that many celiacs have little or no symptoms at all, while others have extreme symptoms. I used to have severe symptoms before I went gluten-free, but if I get accidental gluten now my symptoms are not too bad. You really can't go by a gut test here. I used to have serious sinus issues for my entire life before...
  5. Celiac.com 01/06/2021 - One question we get often is about celiac disease and sports drinks, especially Gatorade. Specifically, is Gatorade gluten-free and safe for people with celiac disease? First, it's important to distinguish...
  6. I'll admit that I'm truly amazed at all of the negative comments about Daiya, which have been ongoing on this forum for years now. If I were a principal in that company I'd definitely consider reformulating. They have a plant-based approach to their foods, and making cheese this way can't be easy: https://daiyafoods.com/who-we-are/
  7. You can read all about it here, but I think the go to today would be porcelain: https://www.webmd.com/oral-health/guide/dental-health-fillings#1
  8. Yes, it looks like Schar has a puff pastry dough: https://www.schaer.com/en-us/products/puffpastrydough
  9. It can take some people up to 1-2 years to recover, and depends a lot on the amount of intestinal damage you have at the time of your diagnosis.
  10. Most celiacs should probably be on a high quality B complex, as well as supplement vitamin D. Many need to take magnesium citrate and zinc as well.
  11. Here is the category where Celiac.com's articles on celiac disease and diabetes reside...some may be helpful: https://www.celiac.com/celiac-disease/celiac-disease-amp-related-diseases-and-disorders/diabetes-and-celiac-disease/
  12. Actually Gluten Free Watchdog has made no serious claims about General Mills cereals for years now, and they have failed to publish their data, which they said they would do. Instead it is behind a paid fire wall. I've heard nothing from them for years on this topic. Why can't they test 100 boxes and find 2-3 that contain gluten? Where are the lawsuits from...
  13. @Bunnehlvr Welcome to the forum! I would not worry about what others think about your dietary choices. At this time in your life finding good health is the most important thing of all. Your story definitely sounds like, at the very least, you have gluten sensitivity, and more likely celiac disease and/or dermatitis herpetiforms (the skin manifestation...
  14. @bethwhite06 Welcome to the forum! I would not freak out and wait for the results. If you do have celiac disease it's much, much better that you know than to not know. Most people with celiac disease don't have obvious symptoms, but their health risks are the same whether they have symptoms or not. They may also want to do a blood test to confirm...
  15. Celiac.com 01/05/2021 - The only current medical treatment for celiac disease is a gluten-free diet. Still, researchers don't know much about how people with celiac disease experience and manage a gluten-free diet, especially upon diagnosis...
  16. Did you have have to ask your doctor to test you for each of these individually, or did they run a general test for you? I am just curious, as I've not had any of these checked except ferritin.
  17. Elevated antibodies and negative biopsy to me would mean you're definitely gluten sensitive, as the antibody tests are very specific to your body's autoimmune reactions that are trigged gliadin consumption. You are in the grey area where doctors can't say "celiac disease," but they also cannot say that you are not gluten sensitive. Some doctors in these instances...
  18. Thank you for the clarification, and we've covered some of the research on corn, but feel free to post any research links on corn protein. Here is a summary we did way back in 2005, and if you look at the addition at the bottom the corn used in the study tested at 82ppm, and was contaminated with wheat gluten: We're aware that some celiacs have additional...
  19. In the hopes of cheering you up (but not making you get sick!), there are options at Taco Bell that don't contain any gluten ingredients, however, cross-contamination could be an issue. If you absolutely had to go there, I'd recommend taking a few GliadinX capsules beforehand. If you think you can't afford them, see the bottom of this page where you can get...
  20. If you make these claims you need to back them up with support, sorry but simply calling me ignorant doesn't cut it. I know for a fact that people with high blood pressure (like me) can take either vaccine when it becomes available. You made this claim, you need to provide the evidence to back it up.
  21. Regarding #1, this statement is not correct. People with allergies are allowed to take the vaccine. They currently recommend that if you have a history of allergies to vaccines that you take it at your doctor's office, or at a hospital setting where you can get anaphylaxis support if needed, and wait there for up to an hour afterwards. I've seen no rules...
  22. Flowers Foods, Inc. (NYSE: FLO) has amended its December 3, 2020 voluntary recall press release on two Canyon Bakehouse products to reflect additional geographic distribution for the Canyon Bakehouse Everything Bagels. The expanded distribution for the Canyon Bakehouse Everything Bagels includes retail customers in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York...
  23. Celiac.com 01/04/2021 - Researchers have long known that the common chronic skin disorder atopic dermatitis is associated with other atopic conditions. A growing body of evidence supports a connection with non-atopic conditions, including...
