  1. It's great to hear that the trip went well, and the general consensus I hear about gluten-free travel in Europe, including my own experiences, is that it is much easier done in comparison to traveling and eating gluten-free in the USA.
  2. Thanks for sharing this! Talk about frustrating! It is complicated enough to try to keep track of which products are safe, but the concept of the same product sold at 2 different stores--one that is certified gluten-free and one that isn't--that is exactly why having celiac disease is still so difficult, and it is so easy to make mistakes!
  3. It's great that this business has celiac disease awareness and uses gluten-free oats! I wish more restaurants would make such simple changes, for example if Asian restaurants switched to using gluten-free soy sauce, many (but not all!) risks would be eliminated for lots of their dishes. My daughter works at a Vietnamese restaurant where the owner is keenly...
  4. It sounds like you’ve been doing everything right—strictly avoiding gluten, managing food allergies, and advocating for yourself—yet you’re still dealing with severe pain, exhaustion, and other debilitating symptoms. The fact that your colonoscopy came back clear after 31 years gluten-free is a testament to your diligence, but it doesn’t erase the very real...
  5. Celiac.com 07/19/2025 - Tamales have been a treasured food of Mesoamerican cultures for over 5,000 years, with roots reaching back to the ancient Aztec and Maya civilizations. Made with ground corn dough (masa) and wrapped in corn husks...
  6. The topic has come up in the forum a lot: https://www.celiac.com/search/?q=lymphocytic colitis&quick=1&type=forums_topic and here are discussions with "colitis": https://www.celiac.com/search/?&q=colitis&type=forums_topic&quick=1&search_and_or=and&sortby=relevancy
  7. While lymphocytic colitis (LC) isn’t as frequently discussed as other celiac-related conditions, research does show a connection between the two, likely due to shared autoimmune mechanisms. Some people with celiac do develop microscopic colitis (including lymphocytic or collagenous types), so your husband isn’t alone in this. The finding of dysplasia add...
  8. What is Xiromed? I see that it is a generic manufacturer, but not a drug.
  9. The site I posted earlier does include ALL ingredients, including ANY binders. You can search this site for prescriptions medications, but will need to know the manufacturer/maker if there is more than one, especially if you use a generic version of the medication: To see the ingredients you will need to click on the correct version of the...
  10. As mentioned earlier in this thread, one of our sponsors here, Tierra Farm, sells certified gluten-free nuts and has a free shipping deal going now: https://www.tierrafarm.com/discount/gfships Coupon code: GFships
  11. I'm sure you can find other gluten-free versions here. You can search this site for prescriptions medications, but will need to know the manufacturer/maker if there is more than one, especially if you use a generic version of the medication: To see the ingredients you will need to click on the correct version of the medication and maker in...
  12. Celiac.com 07/18/2025 - Spondyloarthritis (SpA) is a group of inflammatory diseases that primarily affect the spine and joints but also have surprising connections to gut health. Many patients with spondyloarthritis experience intestinal...
  13. Given your severe symptoms it sounds like you would be much better off going 100% gluten-free!
  14. Your frustration and exhaustion are completely valid, and many in the celiac and gluten-sensitive community can relate to the overwhelming confusion you're experiencing. You’re being pulled in different directions by medical advice that seems contradictory, and it’s heartbreaking that your efforts to feel better are met with so many setbacks. Positive TTG...
  15. Celiac.com 07/17/2025 - People living with autoimmune conditions often face higher risks for developing other autoimmune diseases. One such concern is type 1 diabetes, a serious and lifelong condition where the immune system destroys insulin...
  16. If you look at the article that I shared you will notice that "The test is estimated to have a sensitivity of approximately 90%, which means that it correctly identifies 90% of people with celiac disease. It also has a high specificity of around 95%, which means that it correctly identifies 95% of people who do not have celiac disease," so your results indicate...
  17. It is a single study done on children within a single country in Europe, so it's results can't be projected onto the entire world for both adults and children, and over all ethnic groups in the world. The 1% figure is an approximation based on the results of many studies that have been done worldwide on both adults and children.
  18. I'm unable to determine your situation--did you go gluten-free for a while before your endoscopy for celiac disease? If so, the results would not be accurate because you need to be eating lots of gluten daily for at least two weeks leading up to the procedure. Also, your strong TTG Antibodies IgA results do indicate celiac disease. This article might...
  19. You bring up a valid and important point. The persistent citation of the "1% of the global population" figure can indeed feel outdated, especially when newer, well-conducted studies like the one from Italy suggest that the actual prevalence—particularly in children—may be significantly higher. The Italian study by Elena Lionetti showing a 1.6% rate in scr...
  20. Thanks for sharing this, I've never heard of Ted's Montana Bar and Grill.
  21. Celiac.com July 2025 - Explore expert insights, research updates, and practical tips on celiac disease, gluten-free living, and emerging treatments in our video library. Stay informed and empowered with the latest developments to manage...
  22. Canker sores can definitely be frustrating, especially when you're already managing a strict gluten-free lifestyle and have been diagnosed with celiac disease for so long. While these painful mouth ulcers aren’t exclusive to celiac disease, they can be linked to nutritional deficiencies—particularly of iron, folate, or vitamin B12 (as @trents mentioned )—w...
  23. This article has some detailed information on how to be 100% gluten-free, so it may be helpful (be sure to also read the comments section.):
  24. I completely understand the frustration of finding reliable gluten-free ingredients—it's exhausting when trusted products disappear or companies don't respond to safety inquiries. For teff flour in bulk, check out Azure Standard or Bulk Foods; both often carry gluten-free grains in larger quantities and clearly label dedicated facilities. For soy flour, ...
