  1. I had a fecal antigliadin antibody level of 11, where 10 or up is positive. I know they say that positive is positive, like being pregnant, but...REALLY, is 11 the same as having a score of 45 or 200? I also had an anticasein score of 9, where (same thing) 10 or up is positive. Does that mean I am probably casein sensitive too, or can I trust their ...
  2. sorry, to answer your question, it certainly sounds like you do.
  3. Hey there-- why don't you cut gluten out for a long time (like a month) and see how ya feel? Especially if you say you feel better without it-- why don't you go without it (and try to be really clean about it-- don't eat anything unless you are SURE it's gluten free)-- and then after a month try to eat some bread-- and notice your symptoms. That's the...
  4. Hi Ursa Major.... I have also heard this about dairy. I just never heard anybody so SURE of it as you. What does the pasteurization process do to the milk so that the calcium is unusable? What is wrong with the calcium in OJ and almond milk? And why do you recommend multis over those other things-- they are all "artificial" supplementation. Why are...
  5. I suppose this is a poll of sorts. How many people who are gluten intolerant, and in remission, have found that they are also intolerant of other things? (note, AFTER healing, not during)
  6. haha--thank god for some nice replacements man has come up with, such as almond milk...gluten-free/cf goodies, etc., but its true that it;s a bummer not to be able to go into a restaurant and order "anything that looks good" even on your birthday!
  7. Thanks Lore....interesting the way things go-- not sure either why we would develop other intolerances as we heal! maybe we are eating more of those things since we can't eat bread?? Perhaps it would help to rotate our replacement foods more. Anyone else have any opinions on this?
  8. I am just embarking on the gluten free journey, and am not really sure if I have other intolerances. I know I don't feel 100% yet, but of course am not sure if it's just that the gluten damage takes a long time to go away, of if there are other intolerances at play here. The obvious offenders would be dairy and soy (and I eat both). I know the safe route...
  9. Hi cathy- This is all quite interesting. What do you mean by "little bits of gluten"? Can you give an example? Does that mean, using pots and pans that were used with gluten, or do you mean, you were eating cross contaminated products? Or that you were even eating things with small amounts of flour in the ingredients?? I am just trying to figure out...
  10. I am trying to remove gluten from my diet to discover if I have a sensitivity, while I wait for results from enterolab. What I am wondering is the following: If I am mistakenly consuming small amounts of gluten from cross contamination from household utensils, pots and pans, or trace ingredients (though I AM CHECKING), would the effect on my body be...
  11. Tina Shiver is an excellent nutritionist-- but she will likely try to give you the SCD diet book, it may help you, though it DIDN'T help me-- seems to help many people, though. You can find her at "tinashiver.com"
  12. To add to my endless questioning.... what is worse, casein or gluten? Are more people generally intolerant of one or the other? And for those who are intolerant to both, to which to you get a worse reaction and are the reactions "different" in the way they feel? Wondering if casein rather than gluten may be my problem....and also if it's possible to be...
  13. hi- thanks for the reply. I guess I hear about people feeling so much better "overnight" sometimes, and was hoping for the same. I don't mind the waiting to feel better so much, I just want to know whether or not gluten is bad or good for me. Anyway maybe everything will come back negative..and then what?! I did notice a *slight* improvement in my...
  14. Please-- could somebody respond and let me know if you have had anything similar to this? I feel like I am floating around in the dark. My backache is still terrible, though burping has subsided after gluten free (and appetite is up)
  15. I am currently awaiting my test results from casein/gluten sensitivity from Enterolab. In the meantime (2 more weeks...) I want to feel a little better at least, in any way I can. What I am wondering is, how soon does one usually feel better if the problem is gluten? I have been gluten free for 3 days now (at least, I think I have, though we do use a...
