  1. Greetings all: While traveling, I used to take Altiplanogold brand instant quinoa packets with me but I have scoured the internet and I do not think they are in business any more. Does anyone know where I can find comparable instant quinoa? I will do the quinoa flakes if I have to but the packets were so easy and useful and came in three flavors. Thanks...
  2. Thank you to everyone who posted! I have been away from my computer for several months and now I am back in the swing of things and we are leaving in three weeks. I will write down the restaurant suggestions (I never did that before and I still kick myself). I always bring the staples: Kind fruit and nut bars, carrots, quinoa flakes (I used to take Altiplano...
  3. Thank you so much. I did see this book online but after looking at some of the responses on Amazon, I am not sure how much it will help. There are a couple of blogs with suggestions so maybe I will just go that route (have a couple places in my back pocket). It's not a huge issue, I just thought if there were some places that people just loved it would be...
  4. I moved this post because no one in the international forum had any suggestions. And the other Italy posts were either too old or not on point. About 8 of us are traveling to Rome and Florence in October. This is the first time I will travel to Italy since becoming gluten-free. My mom travels extensively but hasn't visited the two cities since becoming...
  5. The other Italy posts are too old for me so I am starting a new thread. Greetings! About 8 of us are traveling to Rome and Florence in October. This is the first time I will travel to Italy since becoming gluten-free. My mom travels extensively but hasn't visited the two cities since becoming gluten-free either. I have read several websites, blogs, and...
  6. I think that Annalise Roberts' pie crust recipe is the best! My mom and I even bought Whole Foods fozen pie crusts and they don't even compare to her recipe. I have made several different kinds of pies and they all have come out great.
  7. I may be a little late in responding but I totally understand how you feel. I had just been diagnosed when we had tickets to the NCAA Tournament (Basketball) in Detroit and I was very concerned that I would not have anything to eat and everyone I was with would be pigging out on hot dogs, carmel corn, etc.. I actually got online and emailed Ford Field...
  8. I drink Jameson Irish Whiskey on the rocks and have not had a problem. There is a potato vodka my mom drinks (I can't rememer the name...I think it's Polish) but when I go out, I get Grey Goose with some sort of natural juice. I have done some research and Jose Cuervo coupled with the Jose Cuervo maragarita mix is gluten-free but I haven't asked around at...
  9. Hello all! This is only my second post or so - so hello to all you fellow GFers! A little background at the end of this emaid so you don't think I am totally a newbie. I fell inlove with Beaners (now Biggby) Coffee years ago. So when I become gluten intolerant I was devistated to say the least. I had done TONS of research about coffee. It took me weeks...
  10. This is my first post so please be kind. I am recently self diagnosed (my mom and my uncle both have Celiac) but am very lucky because I have learned allot from my mother on what to eat and what not to eat. I decided to make it my "mission" to try and educate people on the disease, at least as much as I could. So, last week we had tickets to Ford Field...

    ARCHIVED Michigan?

Good morning: I am not sure if you have received any more information yet but I would recommend Michigan Gastro Institute, it's in East Lansing. I see Dr. Oliveri, she is great! The number is 517-332-1200. I am self diagnosed but I went through most all the tests except for genetic. My mother sees her for her Celiac and she was very responsive and suggested...
