ARCHIVED Bad Experience On Carnival Cruisejmreed replied to abigail's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease My wife (she's the celiac) and I just got back yesterday from a Carnival Cruise and had a great experience. We were on the Carnival Legend. Here is some advice to make your experience a little easier on board. Day 1. When we first arrived, we discovered that the main dining room where gluten free would be easiest was closed until dinner. We went into the...

Well I believe I have solved the mystery... I went to San Diego for a conference the other day and I went to PF changs because a colleague is gluten free. Because I am a creature of habit, I ordered the singapore street noodles from the gluten free menu that I normally share with my wife (the celiac ). Well the food came out light in color and it was not...

To see background issue with PF Chang's see my previous post at Open Original Shared Link My wife had more issues at PF Chang's. This is the only restaurant with a gluten free menu we have ever had issues with. This is the third time. While we are not 100% sure she got glutened this time (since she refused to eat the entre), I am convinced she was unless...

ARCHIVED Carnival Cruise Excursions?jmreed replied to jmreed's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease Well I haven't gone on the cruise yet, so I don't know all the details. But Carnival tells me they will be able to provide gluten free meals for my wife the entire cruise. I'm don't know about the excursions though... Jake

So my wife (she's the celiac) and I are going on a cruise to the carribean (Cayman Islands, Belize, Cozumel, Roatan) on Carnival. I know that she will be able the eat while on the boat but I am wondering what everyone does for food when on excursions. Will the ship provide food she can eat when we leave? Or will we need to pack lots of Laura bars? I heard...

Well The food was quite good. It was a little expensive though and the portions were small. This was a fine dining establishment. Very good service in the middle of the rush. I would reccomend it though. Apparently (so I've been told) it is owned by the same company as PF Chang's.

ARCHIVED Glutened On Multiple Occasions At Pf Chang'sjmreed replied to jmreed's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants Here is an update. I am glad to see that PF Chang's took the issue seriously and has made the procedural modifications necessary to minimize these occurances. My wife and I will return there very soon. Crush 29 in Rooseville (1480 Eurika Blvd) has a gluten free menu. My Celiac wife and I are going there tonight. I'll let you know how it is.

Here's another recipe I made for my wife. My wife doesn't do well with corn so these work great when making fajitas. 2 C Brown rice flour 1 t Xantham Gum 1 t sugar 1/4 t salt 2 eggs 3 C water 2 T olive oil First mix all the dry ingredients into a bowl. Add the wet ingredients and mix well. Pour 1/3 a cup of the mixture into a good nonstick medium...

My wife has celiac disease (I am one of the wheat eaters... who have infiltrated your forum) and I wanted to share a recipe I created to make pizza for her. I have tried several different crusts and could not find one without yeast that was very good. Created this one from what I have learned about gluten free cooking. She doesn't do well with yeast or milk...

ARCHIVED Glutened On Multiple Occasions At Pf Chang'sjmreed replied to jmreed's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants Good ideas... If they won't mark the food for us in Sacramento, special ordering could really help. I'll pass that on to my wife. I love PF Changs and she doesn't want to go there any more. Thanks!

My wife is a Celiac and when we got married (in June) she had a gluten-free cupcake. Otherwise, i would expect that any baker (who specializes in wedding cakes) would be willing to make you a gluten free cake. Although CC could be an issue I'm sure.' Congratulations bye-the-way!!!

ARCHIVED Glutened On Multiple Occasions At Pf Chang'sjmreed replied to jmreed's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants Why is it that so many of the messages on this forum are pinned? The pinned posts automatically post before any other mesages. Since so many of the posts are pinned, the new ones are impossible to find. Who has the right to make posts pinned? It seems to me that there are a glut of pinned messages making them all unimportant. In every other forum i've...

ARCHIVED Glutened On Multiple Occasions At Pf Chang'sjmreed replied to jmreed's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants I wish they had a similar system in Sacramento... It doesn't appear that they do. The only differences I have discovered are the gluten free sauce is a little lighter in color and less spicy. Where is your location? I will suggest that they use plates to mark the food everywhere. Thanks for the good wishes! Jake

ARCHIVED Glutened On Multiple Occasions At Pf Chang'sjmreed replied to jmreed's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants I agree... I worry that my complaining will make it less likely more restaurants will take the innitiative to have gluten free menues. Restaurants who offer a gluten free menue increase their chances of complaints due to cross contamination issues. On the other hand, I think when a restaurant offers a gluten free menue, the expectation that they will serve...

ARCHIVED Glutened On Multiple Occasions At Pf Chang'sjmreed posted a topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants Hi... I just joined the forum, but I'm not new to it. I've been here the last 9 months searching for foods my newly diagnosed Celiac Wife. While I can eat gluten, I have better internet (and cooking) skills than my wife, so this forum has been an invaluable resource for me. I want to thank everyone who has posted helpful information. My other reason...
