  1. Hey! It's such a pain to get our little ones diagnosed. I guess the real question is do you want a diagnosis or do you want him to get better? Chances are he won't test positive till after he's 6 not 2. My son's a classic celiac. We knew when I was breastfeeding. So we've been gluten free except for 2 weeks of his life 21 months old now. I won't say...
  2. Yeah I'd heard about the correlation between both and lupus. I had Lyme as a kid... grew up in Ct actually. And have been gluten-free since I started breast feeding my son. (Largely) I did test neg to Celiac though. I find it's easier to tell my kid to eat something I'm eating myself. Thanks!
  3. Pirate Booty... it's like cheetos but natural and gluten-free PF good luck
  4. Hmmm... doing some reading here. How many of our kids have had their tonsils and or adenoid removed. Or at least lots of infections? My son is slated for removal by his 2nd birthday, and lots of posts I've read include a similar story.
  5. Hi, so I posted a few months ago about a preschool that required a diagnosis for an alternative diet. I decided to try a gluten challange on my son then 18 mo. 4 days later he was sick as a dog and had a diaper rash up to his ears (no joke) so I stopped it and talked to our ped. He reffered us to the best doc I have seen (I have lupus so I've seen my...
  6. Hi! My son is 20 months now and is totally gluten-free. If you are still breastfeeding you need to be also. My ped gastro told me that the antibodies pass through in the breastmilk. It's hard to know what to do when you know that for a definate diag you need to get your baby sick. Our doc was awsome! he listened to me and diagnosed him with NO TESTS!...
  7. Hi! I figured out my son had celiac disease while he was breastfeeding. He was a totally happy kid untill he had to poop. But it seems he's the exception not the rule. If you want to know if it's celiac cut out the gluten. It's hard to figure out at first, but there's great books out there and this is a great resource. My son still hasn't had his blood...
  8. Hi everyone! I posted last week about lab work and gluten and got some great advice, thanks! My DH decided that he wanted to go ahead and do the labs now AND find a different preschool. So Aidan, my son has been having a pretty significant amount of gluten for about a week now with absolutely no symptoms that we can see. Is it normal for the gastro problems...
  9. That's a great idea! Thanks!
  10. Thanks, bummer. I want a diagnosis for his preschool, he'll start in January and they won't enforce special diets without doc's note. I guess we'll look for new preschool.
  11. Oh yeah the diet works! He had awful digestion issues. I won't bother you with the details. He hasn't gotten any significant gluten since a fated Christmas cookie in December. I'm really bummed about having to add the gluten back. Seems silly to me. The whole reason we're having him tested is so it can go in his preschool file. Maybe we'll look at other...
  12. Hi there I'm new here! My son is 19 months now and has been gluten-free since 7 months. We noticed something was wrong @ 3 months and he had TMNT poo after I ate bread. So I went wheat free while I breast fed. Gave him barley cereal at 6 months and knew it was celiac not wheat allergy. My question is do I have to put him back on gluten for an actual...
  13. I feel for you. My son is only 19 months old now but I'm already thinking about what to do when he's old enough to make food choices. I don't have a bunch of experience but do have a couple pointers my DH was diagnosed after my son. It's a BIG lifestyle change for him. and he goes back and forth on good decisions. One thing I'm sure I do is have yummy...
  14. I'm not sure if she has celiac or not only the doc can tell you that. I can say with a diagnosed parent and behavior problems and odd lab work my guess is probably. Good luck. Betsy
  15. Hey there. I'm new here and trying to get my son's lab work completed for a celiac diagnosis. He started showing symptoms @ 6 months old and has been gluten free from 7 months. He's 19 months now and want to complete the lab work for diagnosis but can't get a clear answer from our doc as to wether he needs to add gluten for his blood work. I figured someone...
